DrudgeReport.com has been recently under a cyber attack. Some belief it comes from our own government. Who knows? As I type this now Drudge is down and I assume from a DOS attack. I think the coming years will see a lot of cybercrime/cyberterrorism occurring – much of which we may not even hear about.

A few days and the 2017 Gold’s Challenge begins. This is a contest to see who can have the largest transformation in health and fitness. I truly believe I can compete regionally if I stick to my diet plan and workouts.

Chicago records 762 killings in 2017 – up 57%. This in a strict gun control region. There are certainly issues in Chicago and it is not as simple as removing the gun control restrictions to fix everything. There is a culture of violence and crime in Chicago that will take years with the right leadership to improve.

Alex Jones – who I have a love-hate relationship with – is now on the bandwagon that Obama is planning something to stop Trump from taking office.  It’s these types of news stories and predictions that end up going unrealized that is frustrating. His followers seem to quickly forget as well.

    ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

I’m really wanting to try out stippling. Stippling is generally the use of a soldering iron to burn small dimples/lines or some other pattern into polymer gun parts including grips and magazines. The reason for doing this is to improve the grip on these items. I have picked up a few custom stippled guns and was really impressed.

I’ve started working on a post to remind people that there are lots of reasons to continue to prepared efforts – food storage, security, defense, gardening, bug out plans, fuel storage, bug in plans, etc. Well here’s one: Kim Jung Un in North Korea is prepping to test an ICBM in their continuing nuclear armament efforts.

Let’s remember North Korea has two satellites orbiting the planet and passes over the United States. What if they contain nuclear weapons?

    ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

Last couple weeks been going through serious organization efforts. Still a ways to go. Way too much clutter and saving EVERYTHING. A lot of people do Spring Cleaning well guess we are doing Winter Cleaning. Old clothes heading to Goodwill or Salvation Army. Misc supplies have been placed into storage unit until retreat shed is complete. This is freeing up some serious space. Firearms and all things related to firearms getting a place. Purchased another metal gun cabinet – a Stack On 10 gun. Will get an actual safe at some point.

Making headway is better than going backwards.

Looking at online gun retailers I see Para Ordnance 1911’s available fairly cheap. I had contacts with employee’s who worked in Para’s Pineville, NC plant who said things much improved at the company when Remington bought them out. The plant shut down a couple years ago when Remington consolidated operations in Alabama.

I’ve always questions the quality of Para but have no first hand experience with them. Several models are available online for $599.

Christmas dinner my youngest heard someone on TV say “Merry Christmas”. He then said that he thought it was against the law to say Merry Christmas on television. My wife and I asked him where in the world he got that from and he wasn’t sure. I know where that came from. It came from the supposedly all understanding, compassionate, and fair-minded left-wing Liberals.

Picked two new EDC bags – both made by Condor. These are not survival kits or get home bags rather more utility or incidental pouches. Well – the larger bag could work as a small get home bag. I’ve just started putting them together and one is pretty small I am envisioning having the larger bag as one of those “jack of all trade” bags that contain a wide assortment of items to assist in all kinds of situations.

Here are the two bags – the Condor T & T Pouch and the Condor E & E Bag.

Putin sends a message to the Democratic party –

“Democrats are losing on every front and looking for people to blame everywhere,” he said. “They need to learn to lose with dignity.

“The Democratic Party lost not only the presidential elections, but elections in the Senate and Congress. .…Is that also my work?” he said.

He went on to ridicule Democrats for never-say-die efforts to overturn the Nov. 8 presidential election, first by calling for recounts, then trying to get electors to flip.

“The fact that the current ruling party called Democratic has blatantly forgotten the original definition of its name is evident if one takes into consideration unscrupulous use of administrative resource and appeals to electors not to concede to voters’ choice,” Putin said, according to the Russian news agency Tass.

One of my favorite books is EMP: Equipping Modern Patriots. Author Jonathan Hollerman and his wife just came out with a unique new prepper fiction piece – Alone: Beth Ann’s Story of Survival. It is unique in that it is a story with a women as the main character.

So you think you’re afraid of the dark? Twenty-two-year-old Beth Ann is content with her small-town life. That is, until the day America’s electric grid is destroyed by terrorists. What starts out as an inconvenience quickly becomes a catastrophe—not only do the lights stay off, but cars won’t run and phones are dead. The world screeches to a halt. Without communication and basic supplies like food and water, widespread confusion spirals into deadly chaos within days.

A wealthy opportunist saves the townspeople with his secret cache of food and easily takes control of the desperate town. But the darkness that follows is even more devastating than the electrical outage. When Beth Ann finds herself on her own, she must do whatever it takes to survive. Alone is a companion novel to the best-selling Equipping Modern Patriots Series, written in coordination with Survival Expert and Preparedness Consultant, Jonathan Hollerman.

Three teenagers from my town have been arrested. They planned to hold up a gun shop – then rob and murder someone they had a beef with. My son knows all three kids. I know several kids that my son grew up with and I even coached them in Small Fry football who have gotten in serious trouble. What is the world coming to? How could these kids think they could pull off such a crime spree?

Whatever happened to “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me”? Now it seems like it’s all about words. The over sensitivity is ridiculous with so many. With much of society EVERYTHING is acceptable as long as it fits within their agenda and belief system and if you suggest something outside of that – well, it’s NOT acceptable and your labeled as a bigot, racist, sexist – whatever.

There are literally schools banning the use of the terms “boys” and “girls”. It’s insane. Some cupcake came up with the theory that students could be negatively impacted and suffer mental anxiety by hearing the terms related to gender.

Over on my Instagram page a lively discussion about the Electoral College versus popular vote has been going on all day. I used to be a believer in using the popular vote – until I understood what could result. Although there is a lot of misinformation regarding how many counties Trump won versus Hillary – the numbers do not lie:

    Trump: 2,623          Hillary: 489

When you dig down into the numbers deeper it is truly telling. Remove the top 100 most populated counties and Trump won the EC by an even larger margin AND  the popular vote by close to 15 million votes. We already know the pundits and pollsters didn’t have it close – but it is really “worse” then they thought.

The following picture is the exact reason why we have the Electoral College. Blue – Hillary counties  Red – Trump

    counties

Does the above map look like Hillary won the election?

I did a lot of my Christmas shopping online this year and so far extremely pleased. Shipping was fast with tracking all the way. One item had to be sent back and this was not an issue. Looks awesome but really would like to see one up close before I shell out the money. Although – the knives I have bought from GearBest have been great.

The terrorist attacks in Europe show the obvious incompatibility between Islam and modern civilized society. Call me Islamophobic? So be it. I fully realize that there are millions of peaceful Muslims living in the United States and the world. This doesn’t change my belief that Islam and it’s belief system is incompatible with modern civilized society.

Around the world women are shunned, shamed, stoned, mutilated, and killed. Fathers kill their daughters for not following beliefs from “the religion of peace”. Husbands remove the eyes of their wives and horribly burn them for suspicion of being unfaithful.

I’m sorry – but any belief system that supports this type of behavior must be shunned. Also in my opinion – Islam and Sharia law is not a religion – it is in fact an economic construct.

Europe is suffering for the poor decision of their Liberal leaders far too accepting and accommodating for allowing millions of Muslim refugees into their countries.

It’s not uncommon to see video’s on Facebook and Instagram of video’s where someone uses a gun in self defense. Almost every single one of these are from other countries. Here’s the deal – in almost all of these the person defending themselves pulls a gun – the person runs away and then the “victim” starts shooting. In most situations in the US the shooter would be charged.

When the threat is not longer present the gun owner cannot just shoot the person. Reading he comments everyone will be bragging about how they would do the same.

Using a gun in self defense is no joke.

Interesting the attention that the “DNC email leak/hacking” situation is getting right now. Four years ago when Romney suggested that Russia was the biggest threat t the United States he was labeled ridiculous and “old school” by Obama and the mainstream media. Now those very same people are all over Russia for hacking the DNC – even though Julian Assange has stated Russia was not responsible.

To a certain degree it really doesn’t matter where Wikileaks received their information. It has been proven that the DNC is corrupt and election was completely rigged. Hillary was selected early on and it didn’t matter what Bernie Sanders did she was going to get the nomination. Beyond that evidence was massive that Hillary was chosen to be elected President by the “powers that be”. The uniqueness of Trumps message managed to pull him out the win – even though he managed to best Romney’s totals in 2012 by a couple million votes.

Here is some truth for you…..

When considering firearms for survival & preparedness – and the American Reformation – the shotgun is not often highly rated. Maybe they are just not as exciting as the latest AR/Glock/1911. One thing they are is incredibly versatile. Slugs can reach out and say “Hi!” or bust through a barrier and provide an introduction. Buckshot can send a devastating barrage of multiple projectiles downrange with a forgiving margin of accuracy. Birdshot can take small game……and so on.

It is becoming obvious that we live in a very different world with threats that just a few decades ago could not have been imagined. Cyberwarfare is a serious matter that is not often considered. With the United States importing so much of its technology – including military and infrastructure – embedded malware and viruses could exist at this very moment and we don’t even know it.

I had ceased contributing to my 401k plan a couple years ago. Obviously in retrospect this was not a good thing to do. It is what it is. I have just put in a request to start contributing again up to maximum company match.

    ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

I can foresee a time when “cash” becomes obsolete and is no longer accepted by certain companies/stores.  Already I see stores saying they will not accept bills larger than $20. I realize this is largely due to having to make change but so what?  Even the Salvation Army has credit card machines at some of their collection stands outside stores.

    ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

I place great importance on SPEED when it comes to a “get home bag”. That means light weight with minimal supplies. Although I have a backpack now I would even consider a minimalist approach using a Maxpedition Versipack or even a smaller pouch just to keep a few items. Short to medium distances do not demand a 100 pound pack.

I said “That’s terrible, I’m sorry for your loss.”

He was quiet for a minute or two and finally I asked him..

“Would you mind if I took my wife to that cabin for a few days?”

Ran into a true unicorn today – the Kel-Tec CMR-30. I have been to gun shows and numerous gun shops in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia – never seen one – ever. If not familiar the CMR is the carbine version of the popular Kel-Tec PMR-30 .22 magnum semi-automatic pistol(which I own). I have wanted a CMR since their manufacturing was announced.

It was soooo tempting but had to walk out empty handed. I schemed all the way home how I could afford it. Was there something I could trade in? Was there something I could sell? Oh well – they are really fun guns but will just have to wait.

A large topic in social media and mainstream media is related to “fake news”.  Fake news comes from a variety of different sources including websites that post fake articles and from people or organizations that create “propaganda” for a desired effect. I have myself fell for fake news before believing it to be real. It can be very embarrassing.

Fake news goes to the concept of doing your own research and think for yourself. Base opinions and beliefs on facts and logic – rather than emotion and fantasy.

I continue to put together a survival library that will be second to none. The goal here is to have everything on a large flash drive – possibly 128 gigabytes. Insert the USB drive into a laptop and a menu will pop up. Super easy to use and accessing all the information will be a breeze. Well – that is the goal.

Most everything will be PDF – plus lots of video’s. The drive should also work on a Windows-based tablet as long as there is a USB port available.

For some reason been thinking a lot about survival back in the 80’s. I remember certain products, magazines, books, and guns that were popular back then. For those old enough to have been into preparedness back in the 80’s there were some pretty cool stuff back then. This was all before the Internet and folks were fairly sure who the enemy was – the Soviet Union.

Think I’ll write up an article about 80’s survivalism.

Until then here is a sampling from the 80’s:

It was on December 7th, 1941 that 353 Japanese bombers attacked the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, destroying 19 ships, 188 aircraft and killing over 2,000 Americans. It was this act that drove the United States into World War II. Always remember.

  • The Demise of the Preparedness Movement

The Demise of the Preparedness Movement

It is being reported all over the Internet and I have have heard it from preparedness industry leaders: The Preparedness Movement is becoming a thing of the past. Much like the survivalist movement in the late 80’s the preparedness movement changing – with former followers exiting.

    “Why?” you ask……

Trump. Yes- Donald Trump’s election to the Presidency has generated turmoil in the preparedness community. The unbelievable hope and positive expectations looking toward the future has many prepper’s believing that “everything will be just fine” and ceasing their preparedness efforts.

Hey – I understand their thinking. I really do. I was so certain that Hillary was going to be elected and that it would be the final blow to our Republic I was investing large sums of money in specific supplies just before the election with plans for more afterwards. With the announcement of her loss I found myself in a state of shock – and wondering what to do next. My sense of urgency had been replaced with a giant sigh of relief and hope as well.

Is this hope and relief unfounded? I don’t think so. I believe Trump is going to provide a positive change for this country. I also believe that there are forces at work against him. The Liberal Left and others who are responsible for leading this country astray will not just sit by. No – they are developing a plan to get back in power and continue on where Obama has left off.

Has my prepping changed due to Trump’s election? Absolutely!

Regarding the American Reformation/Economic Collapse/Civil War/Revolution/Fill In The Blank we have been given a reprieve.  How much? Hard to say not knowing. I believe it is still coming so I will take advantage of the gift of time.

There are lots of other threats existing that make preparedness simply common sense. Localized and personal economic hardship, civil unrest, terrorism, pandemic, war, EMP, harsh winter storms, etc. all continue to be a possibility for almost all of us.

For me – it is the unknown that drives my preparations.

    Unbelievable.

  • The UN, Arms Treaty Agreement, and the World’s Opinion on US and Guns

The UN, Arms Treaty Agreement, and the World’s Opinion on US and Guns

I see it all the time. People are jeered and chided for mentioning any threat from the UN. Yeah – I understand and agree that 100,000 UN peacekeepers are not going to come over here and invade the United States. It’s insanity to think that would be a possibility. There are scenarios where the UN and other foreign troops could enter the United States in an “assistance” role. Well – that is for another post.

Much was written a couple years ago about the United States Secretary of State signing the Arms Trade Treaty. While propaganda spread talking of the UN banning firearm ownership here in the US the reality is the treaty was never ratified by Congress and holds absolutely no power or authority. What this treaty has done is provide insight to what the rest of the world’s leaders think of the United States and its citizens lure towards firearm ownership.

    un

This past August at the Second Conference of States Parties to the ATT several world leaders remarked on the United States’s ability to access firearms. Mexico’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs H.E. Claudia Ruiz Massieu stated “it is easier to acquire a firearm than a liter of milk or a box of cereal.”  She also praised “the tenacious and sincere efforts of President Barack Obama to establish administrative measures to strengthen controls on the possession and sale of weapons” and calling on the U.S. Congress to “ban the sale of assault weapons.”  She went on to state that upwards of 70% of the weapons used to commit crimes in Mexico are sourced one way or another from the United States.

No doubt that many on the Liberal-side of the political aisle would agree with her.

    *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *      *

I’m not suggesting that we have to fear the UN. All I am pointing out is the vast majority of the rest of the world looks at the United States and detests our 2nd Amendment and the freedom it provides. The United States needs to continue to stand as a beacon of freedom and liberty – and anyone who shall challenge or try to take that away should be quickly put in their place.

Appreciate all the positive comments about the “situation” at home. A lot of work to be done this weekend.

    ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

So – Trump is going back on his promise to pursue charges against Hillary. I disagree with that and suspect this will not be the last promise he twists and turns into something else. He has to play politics and although I’m not in agreement – it is likely for the best. He has over half the country not part of his fan base. He needs to prove their rhetoric and propaganda wrong.

Fairly impressed with the moves that Trump has made so far with his transition team and those selected to be part of his Administration. He appears to be making selections that are right in line with his agenda as well as making attempts to improve relationships with those in Washington. Teamwork is going to be needed to get his ideas implemented.

I mentioned a few days ago about my son’s best friend and the troubles he was having at home. He actually spent the night outside on the street as he did not want to “be a burden” on anyone. I set him straight that he was absolutely NOT to do that again and that if he had nowhere to go he could stay with us.

The wife and I talked and proposed a couple of things. We found local assistance that would provide him shelter and food. He was not interested in public assistance. The other involved us taking our shed in the backyard and converting it into a spare room. The shed is larger than my son’s room. So – this weekend everything will be moved out and cleaned up. Moisture barriers will be laid on floor and walls after the insulation is installed. The bare walls will be covered with plywood.

Some carpet will be laid down, an electric heater, a couple of twin beds, and a TV installed. LED lights will be installed as well. At some point the walls painted white.

    Home, sweet home…….

I’m taking him to school every morning and I hope everything works out. He is going home for Thanksgiving. I also told him he is under no obligation to stay even though we are making all these accomodations.

As an experienced paintball player I have always wondered why firearms have not gone high tech like paintball guns. I am assuming it involves BATF regulations within the manufacturing process. Trigger pulls are directly linked to accuracy. An electronic trigger could provide a substantial increase in accuracy on some firearms for some shooters.
