  • The Demise of the Preparedness Movement

The Demise of the Preparedness Movement

It is being reported all over the Internet and I have have heard it from preparedness industry leaders: The Preparedness Movement is becoming a thing of the past. Much like the survivalist movement in the late 80’s the preparedness movement changing – with former followers exiting.

    “Why?” you ask……

Trump. Yes- Donald Trump’s election to the Presidency has generated turmoil in the preparedness community. The unbelievable hope and positive expectations looking toward the future has many prepper’s believing that “everything will be just fine” and ceasing their preparedness efforts.

Hey – I understand their thinking. I really do. I was so certain that Hillary was going to be elected and that it would be the final blow to our Republic I was investing large sums of money in specific supplies just before the election with plans for more afterwards. With the announcement of her loss I found myself in a state of shock – and wondering what to do next. My sense of urgency had been replaced with a giant sigh of relief and hope as well.

Is this hope and relief unfounded? I don’t think so. I believe Trump is going to provide a positive change for this country. I also believe that there are forces at work against him. The Liberal Left and others who are responsible for leading this country astray will not just sit by. No – they are developing a plan to get back in power and continue on where Obama has left off.

Has my prepping changed due to Trump’s election? Absolutely!

Regarding the American Reformation/Economic Collapse/Civil War/Revolution/Fill In The Blank we have been given a reprieve.  How much? Hard to say not knowing. I believe it is still coming so I will take advantage of the gift of time.

There are lots of other threats existing that make preparedness simply common sense. Localized and personal economic hardship, civil unrest, terrorism, pandemic, war, EMP, harsh winter storms, etc. all continue to be a possibility for almost all of us.

For me – it is the unknown that drives my preparations.

Love this painting – called The Forgotten Man.

    jm102_the-forgotten-man

“Against the background of a darkening sky, all of the past Presidents of the United States gather before the White House, as if to commemorate some great event. In the left hand corner of the painting sits a man. That man, with his head bowed appears distraught and hopeless as he contemplates his future. Some of the past Presidents try to console him while looking in the direction of the modern Presidents as if to say, “What have you done?” Many of these modern Presidents, seemingly oblivious to anything other than themselves, appear to be congratulating each other on their great accomplishments. In front of the man, paper trash is blowing in the wind. Crumpled dollar bills, legislative documents, and, like a whisper—the U.S. Constitution beneath the foot of Barack Obama.”

Heard of high schoolers I believe in Florida who walked off school grounds in protest over the results of the election.

    Pathetic.

With Christmas coming keep in mind that white LED Christmas lights are a great way to light up areas and use very little juice. Perfect to use with an inverter and a battery or two. Even non-LED’s work well.

    AlertsUSA sends out warnings

I received the following via email from AlertsUSA:

Beginning Wednesday, AlertsUSA subscribers were notified of anti-Trump protests underway in cities across the US, including New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, San Fran & Seattle. The protests expanded to numerous other cities on Thursday and Friday nights, with mostly college-aged social justice warriors pouring into the streets to disrupt traffic, harass, and in many locations, setting fires and destroying storefronts.

On Thursday night in Portland, OR, thousands of demonstrators gathered in the city center area and smashed shop and car windows, threw firecrackers, attacked police and set rubbish piles ablaze. Police declared a riot, deployed tear gas and made 26 arrests.

In many cities these protests are not spontaneous, but planned events seeded with paid protesters. Doubters can visit the Craigslist and Backpage websites for major cities, as well as popular social media platforms, and see the help wanted ads for themselves. They are usually listed under the Community section.

Anger over Donald Trump’s election has also resulted in a large wave of calls for his assassination appearing on a variety of social media platforms including Twitter and Facebook. Singer Marilyn Manson released a music video this week featuring him beheading a figure who looks like Donald Trump, and online video sites such as YouTube have numerous videos of Trump supporters being viciously attacked (see this, this and this).

AlertsUSA cautions readers that these protests are expected to continue and even expand between now an Inauguration Day. You are well advised to choose your words and battles wisely. The political left is enraged and unpredictable.

To the extent that I could possibly understand the actions of these individuals – what I do know is these people are dangerous. Regardless of the fact they are considered Liberals gun usage is not something that can be ruled out. The complete lack of morals provides them the perspective that anything allowing the arrival to their goal is fair game.

The big question is how many will resort to these tactics – and worse – and how far will they go.

Make America Great Again – will not be easy.

  • America Wins!!!

    America Wins!!!

I had quite a different post scheduled to publish this morning – and I will gladly delete it and admit that I have been wrong for months. Donald Trump has been elected President of the United States by the American people – and it wasn’t even close.

I pray that America can be united to move forward in the world and once again become that shining beacon of hope, freedom, and democracy. This Republican Congress needs to stand behind the leader which America has placed in office to get the job done – regardless of how loudly the naysayers scream.

    What a night!

    Moving forward……..

Pretty much the only thing on my mind is the election. Just cannot comprehend how so many people could be fooled or are so ignorant to such a large extent that we are seriously looking at “President Hillary Clinton”. I shouldn’t be shocked after all Obama was elected twice.

Back in November of 2012 I predicted this country would never see another Republican President. Hope I was wrong.

So – I finally got around to shooting my Hi Point 9mm Carbine. I hate it. Hey – lots of other people like it and that’s why so many options are available. Guess if you’re used to driving a Cadillac and then have to drive a Pinto you may get there but it will suck along the way.

I’m not giving up. Going to place the gun in a new chassis – the ATI Hi Point stock. I’ll add a red dot as well and go from there.

Looking at how my supplies are stored. Currently I use many 18 gallon plastic totes. Not the most durable containers in the world but they are cheap and work. After a couple of years they tend to get brittle and need replacing. Thinking about investing in gamma lids and start switching to Home Depot buckets for various supplies.
Curious what everyone else uses to store their supplies.

I am curious. If Hillary wins what will happen with ammunition, magazine, and gun purchases? Month after month sales records are broken. With that said I suspect that most shooters have bought 90% of what they want/need. Most preppers have already stocked up and spent a ton of money. On November 9th if America wakes up and “President Hillary Clinton” is the headline no doubt there will be some boost – but shortages? I doubt it.

I’ve done well putting back brass and lead as well as a few “boomsticks”. Depending on the results of the election I’ll likely be motivated to do a bit more.

  • Final nail in the coffin

    Final nail in the coffin

With the latest insanity surrounding the 2016 Presidential election it’s over for Trump. Not that he was any miraculous savior but I was at least hoping his election to the White House would have bought us more time. President Hillary Clinton is all but assured.

The outrage over Trumps lewd comments is justified however let’s have a little perspective here. Trump said bad things while Liberal politicians do bad things – and get a pass. Look at the evil which Obama and Hillary have promoted. Obama admitted to smoking pot and using cocaine – for Liberals “no problem”. Hillary defended a child rapist and laughed about about it – Liberals “no problem”. Bill Clinton committed rape and adultery – Liberals “no problem”.

For those that say the entire system is corrupt and voting is a waste of time I would have to say after this election I will agree. I do believe Trump was different and an outsider – thus the reason the Republican establishment is against him, Libertarians are against him, and the Democratic establishment is against him.

Hillary Clinton’s election will be the final nail in the coffin for this country.

So – what do we do? I can tell you I will be done with politics. Many would say that decision is well overdue. So be it. With the political landscape changing and the increasing division within this country “going gray” is a prudent course of action. We’ll discuss that more later. “Fred” recently commented – “Keep prepping …….and focus on local elections and what local politicians can do to screw you.”

    Sounds good to me.

  • Panhandle Rancher: OF POWER AND COSMETICS

Panhandle Rancher: OF POWER AND COSMETICS

Men have become nothing but economic goods for the illuminati of power. Goods to be bought, sold, or cast away at whim’s notice. The illuminati of power are brazen to the point of indifference, scoffing at man’s laws while remaining so far removed that accusation and evidence of dark doing bring no fear and they go about their business completely unconcerned by punishment. Dark and shameful deeds once done in hidden corners are now committed in the light of day. Depravity has reached into the hallowed corners of high government. Presidents and the powerful have openly sinned in the face of all creation safe in the knowledge that they are immune from criticism, prosecution, and removal by an apathetic governed.

Our thoughts are shaped and emotions enflamed by the opinions of intellectuals who by dent of their superior education and intellect must know better and see clearer than the common man. These intellectuals work in concert to foster dissatisfaction with success, good fortune, and personal accomplishment. They subvert our culture and civilization by creating the mindset that we are somehow unworthy. Unworthy of not only our own accomplishments but those of our fathers before us, that we should somehow be ashamed to have more of everything that is good and decent along with a better chance at life than any other people in the history of mankind.

We are told the best path to peace and happiness is through greater tolerance of those who outright seek our destruction. So we have the great blending of multiculturalism, of situational ethics, and a judging of events based solely upon what is the best outcome – for the individual. No longer is there a clear concept of what is right and of wrong. Every situation is judged based upon how it affects us and gives rise to the moral relativism of this depraved day.

Despite having clear technological superiority and a wealth of world class engines of war, we no longer even prevail at war. We no longer prevail because the very concept of war has been subverted and re-cast into a presumed kinder and gentler mindset. Sherman wrote, ‘war is hell.’ This is it should be and so awful to comprehend as to be rightfully avoided at almost any cost. Yet we carve out areas of refuge for our nation’s enemies, areas that cannot be bombed, we avoid civilian casualties to the point of absurdity and I will remark that it is sad to see a hospital or school destroyed by war’s awful face – so our enemies play with that theme and co-locate their arsenals of war within or adjacent to these protected locations secure in the knowledge of their safety.

Sherman knew much of the art of war and from whence come the resources with which to wage war. Each thinking citizen should be familiar with the General’s letter to the mayor of Atlanta, Georgia but of course such cannot be taught in our schools. It is more important to learn about Martin Luther King than one of the men that made his life possible. My father’s generation prosecuted a world war in six years and we cannot prevail in the mid east after a decade of struggle. How that generation must be laughing.

From whence come the mighty engines of war? From whence are vast armies raised? How are those armies fed and clothed? The short answer that General Sherman knew so well – is that these things arise from the civilian population, hence his sack of Atlanta. A thinking man might ponder why there was no extended guerilla war after the fall of the South, or after WWII? The reason is simple; Johnny Rebel and his kinfolks could no longer wage war. Their people were totally demoralized, their industry and their farms destroyed, and army increasingly ill equipped and poorly manned. Likewise for the Germans, the Italians, and the Japanese. The civilian populations of those nations were forced to see war’s hard face up close and personal and before long they were no longer interested in war. They were done with war, used up and burned out. I submit, gentle reader, that this country will never again win at war so long as we carve out areas of safety for our enemy, when we fear ‘world opinion’ and fail to take war directly to the civilian population.

Following the US Civil War a new profession came into being, that of the professional politician. I define a professional politician as one who is elected to the same office for more than two terms. Makes no difference whether the elected are town marshals or high sheriffs, mayors or judges, representatives or senators. Once a person runs for the same office more than two times, that person’s interests become focused more upon being re-elected in succeeding terms than in working sincerely for the people. That person has become a ‘professional politician.’ The problem with this exalted class is that having achieved a place at the trough of governmental largess, they will tell any lie, vote any concession, and subvert their office – all in the attempt to be re-elected and remain well fed at that easy trough of the public weal.

Government exists because of taxation. The more tax revenue, the more government. Governments create laws and as governments become wealthier they promulgate more laws. As laws proliferate, our freedom decreases. Controlling taxation is the key to reducing governmental meddling with our private lives. Do you realize, that there is no longer any private property in the United States of America? I own my house, you respond indignantly. Do you really? If you have a mortgage you do not ‘own’ your house. You rent it from the mortgage holder. If you have real estate anywhere in the US it falls within a taxation district. If you think you own that house and are free from the nose of a banker hanging over your fence, try not paying your property taxes and see how long you ‘own’ that house. You in fact, only lease that house from a taxation district. And you must pay and pay and pay over and over again for the privilege of maintaining that lease. This is but one way local government grows fat. A really fair system of property taxation would see a tax levy only when the property changes hands. The concept of repeatedly taxing the same item of property should be really abhorrent to each property owner. So how otherwise could we pay for the high Sheriff and his deputies, the judge and his court? The same way in that I propose property to be taxed. By sales taxes on ‘new items’ not used items, and not repetitively on the same item held by the same ‘owner.’ Think this might shrink local and municipal government?

So what about the federal government? There is a portion of the Internal Revenue ‘Service’ that has as it’s mission, ‘to borrow the money the government needs to operate.’ If that is not a clarion call to wake up, you must be dead. Our federal government is bankrupt. It can only pay interest on the loans that enable its operation by the clever creation of fiat money that is backed by the supposed ‘full faith and credit of the US Government,’ whatever that is. Remember ‘quantitative easing? A big term that means that the government is going to print more money that it can back with capital or commodity. What a neat invention to pay interest on the debt. What a neat invention to make the dollar in your pocket worth less. Any idea what a pre-1964 quarter is worth for its silver content? Several dollars I respond. This folks is the real cost of inflation. It erodes your savings to the point of making savings other than in the form of a commodity foolish. This country really needs a balanced budget amendment and it needs it right now. You and I cannot operate our lives or our businesses by repetitively making less than we spend. Think you our government an exception? There will come a day of reckoning I promise, and with that day, will also come great crying and gnashing of teeth.

We need a much more limited federal government and that government needs finances to exist. There is nothing fair about the existing progressive tax schedule. My vote counts the same as yours so why should I have to pay more for an equal share of government – because the wealthy are a fraction of the electorate and hence an easy target for repressive taxation. The only fair tax is a consumer tax. If you purchase an item, pay a sales tax and as we all ‘use’ the federal government for protection from foreign foe and the like, each should pay a flat tax of no more that 10% of our annual income in addition to the sales tax. This is a generous amount of funding – and adequate when the federal government can only operate from a balanced budget. Just imagine a federal government with no department of education, a reduced department of agriculture, no department of health and human services, a government stripped of aid to farmers and free from the burden of SNAP payment; a government much like it was before WWI. And while we’re at it, why not rename the Department of Defense back to what it used to be when we called a spade a spade, the Department of War. So informed citizens, can you name the federal departments deemed necessary in the Constitution? I’ll give you a hint, there were only four.

I submit a few things: term limits of office, local tax reform, and reasonable federal sales tax coupled with a scheme of flat and equal taxation would re-invent and re-invigorate this country. We would become less entangled in foreign war because with a government that operates within a balanced budget, war for the most part is too expensive especially the so called ‘small wars.’ We would once again learn to stand on our own feet, self reliant, and independent from governmental meddling in our private lives.

The illuminati of power and cosmetics industry are alive and well in our society. Both blow a subtle form of smoke in attempt to obfuscate the obvious. Both sell an impossible and unsupportable idea. Slick advertising has convinced women they look better with cosmetics and so they spend hours and hours each day, carefully applying paint and other things I don’t even want to know about, early in the mornings only to remove it at night. What man amongst us can’t spot a fake eyelash, a fake fingernail, a blond head of hair with black roots? Women, ask your men what they really think about such apparent fakery.

What man (or woman) amongst us cannot spot a government on the path to sure and certain destruction? If that is so, what does it say of us if we do nothing while the ship of state sails right on over the edge to destruction? A wise political philosopher once observed that ‘every people have the government they deserve.’ And so we do.

Our overloaded ship of state is sailing straight into stormy weather and troubled seas. The November elections can turn the helm. Now indeed is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

  • Rourke on Trump

    Rourke on Trump

Rourke: The following is a slightly edited and expanded version of a comment response I wrote up a few days ago. Figured I would share with everyone.

Trump is NOT a politician and is no different today than 30 years ago. He says things like most of us do – no political correctness and sometimes words come out differently than intended. Hillary and the rest of the corrupt crew in Washington are groomed for years on how NOT to answer questions, maneuver around answers in order to provide information to fit their agenda, and spin.

Trump does not do that or at least not well.

Initial impressions from some of his colorful comments are “I can’t believe he just said that!” but then take a look at what he said. Often there is truth there and we are just not used to hearing it. So – he makes a side comment about 2nd Amendment people maybe being able to take care of those involved in gun confiscation. THE MEDIA FREAKS!!! Yet this is the absolute truth and I and numerous others have written and theorized that if government came to take our guns there would be a 2nd American Revolution. He spoke the truth and was politically incorrect. Oh well.

The crazy thing is others do it and the MSM hides it. Look it up – Biden suggests that if Obama tried to take his shotgun Biden would pull out his other guns. Where was the MSM reporting Biden was threatening to shoot Obama. Hillary in 2008 speaks in a manner that some say she was suggesting Obama would be assassinated. That’s not what she meant but if Trump said the same thing today the MSM would be all over it.

The “Republican Leaders” that are against him are all part of the same corrupt Washington group that Hillary is in = the establishment. This is the same establishment on both sides that say that the budget should be balanced, that the debt reduced, that immigration needs to be resolved, and that our dear, poor children need the best education in the world. What do we get? None of the above.

    Trump is different. Period.

BUT – he will not win. He will not win because far too many people fail to understand what is really going on. They fail to understand that Hillary is the epitome of evil. She is totally out for herself and for power and feels no sense of Patriotism. She worships communists, socialists, and baby killers. She laughs at getting a child rapists off and tears down her husband’s sexual victims yet gets on TV and says victims of sexual abuse need to be believed.

The future of this country is truly at stake as the Supreme Court will receive several new members over the next 4-8 years and if Hillary is appointing them it’s all over. Freedom and Liberty will become a thing of the past while fluid genders and fluid race will be the norm. Today I am John…..tomorrow? Who knows – maybe Janice.

Lastly – if by some miracle Trump is elected which I do not believe will happen – he is but one man. You have an entire Congress tainted with corruption and greed. How will any changes be implemented? How will laws be passed?

Congress can only be convinced to cooperate if the public got involved and took to the streets to support him. That, my friends, isn’t going to happen when the vast majority of American’s will only take to the streets to look for cartoon characters.

    I need a beer.

    …….or 12.

  • Madame President Clinton’s Coming War on the Blogosphere, and Your Countermeasures

Madame President Clinton’s Coming War on the Blogosphere, and Your Countermeasures

Rourke: The following is reprinted with permission via SurvivalBlog.com. The original post can be seen HERE.

Now that Hillary (“Hitlery”) Rodham Clinton (HRC) has received the Democratic Party nomination for president, there is a strong likelihood that she will win the election in November and then be enthroned as president in January of 2017. I predict that she will waste no time in launching an onslaught of punitive new policies via executive orders, presidential memoranda, and policy directives promulgated through her cabinet and Federal agencies to eviscerate our Constitutional rights (most notably the 1st and 2nd Amendments). A key goal this campaign will be silencing dissent in the alternative press and the American blogosphere. Given HRC’s history in government “service”, her outlook on life, her socialist agenda, and her vindictiveness, I anticipate that any or all of the following measures will be undertaken by the HRC Administration:

    • The Department of Justice (DOJ) will be used to selectively prosecute dissenters for “hate speech”. For instance, simply objecting to illegal immigration or state sponsored relocation of Muslims will be called “evidence of hate.” They will also declare blogs, news sites, and podcasts to be “public accommodations” and hence saddle them with a long list of new restrictions that would effectively muzzle them from making any comments opposed to HRC’s agenda and “protected” classes. Even the use of “trigger words” could be restricted.
    • The Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) will be used to target dissenters who make any comments about any corporations, mutual funds, or banks, for “operating as unregistered investment advisors”.
    • The Federal Election Commission (FEC) will be used to target Libertarians and other dissenters for “unlawful campaigning”.
    • The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will use their newly-assumed powers over the Internet to enforce a new radicalized version of the moribund Fairness Doctrine upon bloggers, vloggers (video bloggers), podcasters, as well as newspapermen, magazine writers, and talk radio hosts. Under this new and improved fairness policy, any media outlet that is deemed a public accommodation will be forced to free of charge provide equal space to assorted perverts, leftists, and Social Justice Warriors. Failure to do so will open up these news outlets to both criminal prosecution and costly civil lawsuits.
    • The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will be used to selectively audit tax filings, levy bank accounts, garnish wages, and refer criminal prosecution of anyone who voices dissent of HRC’s statist/collectivist agenda. Lois Lerner’s group was just the precursor!
    • The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be used to target dissenters who own property with seasonal puddles that could be deemed “wetlands” or creeks that could be arbitrarily declared “navigable waters”.
    • The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency will be used to target dissenters living within 50 miles of the Mexican or Canadian borders for harassment and intimidation, searching their homes without warrants.
    • The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and associated Tribal Police will be used to target dissenters living within 100 miles of any Tribal Reservation for harassment and intimidation.
    • The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will crack down on any bloggers who make posts that might be construed as a product review or product endorsement.
    • The Transportation Security Agency (TSA) will be used to limit the travel of anyone deemed by HRC’s cronies to be an Enemy of the State (through expansion of the No Fly List, Terror Watch List, and Selectee List).
    • The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will crack down on producers of raw milk and nutritional supplements (and also on the bloggers who promote them).
    • The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will prosecute anyone operating unlicensed drones weighing more than just a few ounces.
    • The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will use both its own agents and paid (or coerced) surrogate agent provocateurs to infiltrate militias, patriot groups, and secessionist organizations. There, they will foment schemes that can be prosecuted under loosely-worded Federal conspiracy laws. (This is precisely what was done with the Bundy Ranch and Malheur Wildlife Refuge protestors.)
    • Working in conjunction with the FCC, the U.S. Coast Guard will board any ship within Territorial Waters that they suspect of operating an unlicensed transmitter.

I can see all of this coming, and I refuse to be muzzled. I aim to misbehave. If need be, I will relocate so that I can still blog freely. In anticipation of HRC’s possible upcoming coronation, here are some possible countermeasures for my fellow bloggers to seriously consider:

    1. Contract for the use of an offshore server in a country that has minimal influence from the United States government, and move your web pages there.
    2. Get set up for encrypted e-mail. (The free GPG software installed on your local PC works quite well. And for those who are less tech savvy, the paid Unseen.is service in Iceland works fine.)
    3. Post provisos on your web site that are similar to my own. (Most importantly, these provisos must declare that you do not operate a “public accommodation.”)
    4. Buy an Iridium satellite telephone and a set of Iridium international power adapters. (Unlike cell phones or other sat phones, calls made from Iridium constellation phones can be traced only to a particular oval satellite “footprint” that measures hundreds of miles across.)
    5. Buy several inexpensive prepaid “burner” cell phones. Pay greenback cash for these phones, and use an assumed name when you eventually activate them.
    6. Buy a nondescript camping trailer or RV and quietly (via face-to-face contacts only) develop a “hospitality list” of like-minded families who own parcels of land that you can bounce between, in the event that you need to take refuge.
    7. Buy a spare laptop computer (preferably one that is ultra-reliable, such as a Panasonic Toughbook), a 12 VDC car adapter, and a set of international power adapters.
    8. Buy a USB external long range Yagi wireless antenna to use with your laptops. (The standoff distance that these provide will make it harder to pinpoint your location when using a public wi-fi hotspot.)
    9. Buy a batch of at least 40 inexpensive 2 GB USB memory sticks that you can use to physically mail (or courier) digital content, to keep your locale secret.
    10. Make sure that your passport is updated.
    11. Do some research to develop a short list of countries where you would consider relocating. Ideally, a country should have respect for the freedom of speech, minimal taxation, minimal influence from the United States government, and NO rendition (extradition) treaty with the United States.
    12. Establish an offshore bank account.
    13. Beyond just offshore residency, if you can afford it, then buy a second passport. (Typically, this is done with a “Citizenship Through Investment” program.)
    14. Via encrypted e-mail, develop contacts with foreign bloggers, and get their tentative agreement to post your ghost-written articles, if circumstances change.
    15. Pray hard.

I don’t mean for the foregoing to sound alarmist. Consider me a realist. – JWR

  • Scenario: The Future of Gun Control

Scenario: The Future of Gun Control

    by John Gault

This may break some hearts but as preppers we are obligated to look honestly at future challenges and attempt as best we can to prepare for them. Per the rules of this site I will keep politics to a minimum. I hate rules but like everyone else I try to follow them. This may end up long but your a curious bunch so hopefully you’ll stick it out till the end. Let’s get started….

Fast forward to the year 2019. The balance of power has shifted in Washington as well as the Supreme Court in a dramatic and for many, disastrous direction. Gun control has become the number one issue in Washington. Likely because the previous administration’s 8 year run had been so successful at solving all this countries other problems…chuckle… Per the Presidents directive congress drafts, votes on and passes a new and sweeping gun control bill. Here we could dicker over the specifics and legalities, but toward what end? We know with certainty that the next atrocity “which never happens anywhere but here” would usher in even stricter controls, so for this exercise let’s just go full monty.

“I stand in support of this common-sense legislation to license everyone who wishes to purchase a gun,” she says. “I also believe that every new handgun sale or transfer should be registered in a national registry, such as Chuck is proposing.”

    Hillary Clinton

They pass a complete ban on semi-auto rifles, shotguns and pistols. Anything that self loads another round all by its own-self becomes illegal within 8 months. In a calculated ploy to take advantage of the now perpetually under performing economy a generous buyback program is initiated with an incentive paying 2 to 3 times market value, its only money and they have the keys to the vault. To sweeten the incentive they include an up to 10 year prison sentence for anyone in possession of a self loader once the buyback period ends. Possession of a non-permitted machine gun or silencer currently carries an up to 10 year prison sentence. See how well it works….

Home break-ins and gun thefts immediately spike.

A third of the country revolts, but break no laws. There are huge rallies, protests and marches, the government ignores them. Talk of revolution fills social media. “The time has finally arrived, tyranny is at our doorstep”. “Don’t Tread On Me”, “Cold Dead Hands” and all that. “Molon Labe” becomes the clarion call. A thousand + one lawsuits are filed. But they will take forever or near enough to adjudicate and everyone knows what the outcomes will be once SCOTUS has its say. The government is under no obligation to wait for any ‘predetermined’ rulings and besides they tell us…”it’s for the children.”

During the months preceding the vote every brick & mortar and online gun store is stripped of its inventory, every avenue of purchase is exhausted. After the vote gun and accessory suppliers act as if semi-autos never existed. Soon rumors spread of backroom deals between the government and the main players in gun manufacturing. Whispers of lucrative guaranteed contracts, subsidies and zero interest bailouts that need never be paid back are all but admitted to. The smaller manufacturers will either convert to manufacturing legal items such as car parts, or will shutter their doors. Their skilled craftsman forced to trade in their calipers, micrometers and bore scopes for part time service jobs at 7/11, a local Jiffy Lube or if lucky, a full time position at Walmart. New job training is promised, it always is. But like the displaced coal miners in West Virginia and displaced manufacturing workers across the country who were trained for jobs that didn’t exist, the skilled craftsmen are forced to join the hundreds of thousands of others who’s talents grow stale in a country that doesn’t make anything.

“Well, you know, my shotgun will do better for you than your AR-15, because you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door.”

    Vice President Joe Biden

As each month folds into the next government commercials run endlessly touting the benefits of the buyback program and its “stimulus” effects, and the promise of a new, safer America that’s sure to follow. They compete with looped NRA fundraising commercials warning of lost liberty and of encroaching tyranny, but everyone knows the fight has already been lost. Meanwhile the buyback deadline looms. Few guns have been turned in but the effects of the ban are obvious. Webmasters across the interweb proactively begin to scrub any and all content related to the now offensive semi-auto. Once reliable links return only ERROR messages. Trading and enthusiast sites are disappeared. Videos and pictures, now  seemingly more objectionable than child porn are deleted. Repeat offenders are banished. Printed publications suffer the same. No more reviews, no more tests, no more comparisons.  No more drooling over glossy centerfolds of the latest and greatest in semi-auto weaponry. In their stead are the industries latest in revolvers, bolt actions and new lines of ‘tactical’ lever actions along with ‘refreshed’ tactical pump guns sans the pistol grips and flash hiders which are now illegal. Everything anyone might need to fight off the next round of tyranny….sigh….

As the buyback period nears its end so to do the rallies, protests and tough talk on the internet. There’s been no bloody confrontations and the protesters are bored and tired of being ignored. Few guns have been turned in and this has created an imaging problem so a week before the deadline the buyback period is extended 2 months. Another $200 per weapon enticement is added. A small price to pay for crime free streets. No matter, the new deadline passes, hardly any guns have been turned in. The totalitarians in Washington declare victory. Two days later a Syrian refugee walks into a Catholic church during mass in New Jersey with an AK smuggled across the Mexican/Arizona border. He kills 33 before killing himself…….

“We have federal regulations and state laws that prohibit hunting ducks with more than three rounds. And yet it’s legal to hunt humans with 15-round, 30-round, even 150-round magazines.”

    Senator Dianne Feinstein

And what of all the guns not turned in? Some are hidden or buried, most are simply stashed away and out of view. There are no mass confiscations, no door to door searches. The government doesn’t want a bloodbath anymore than the gun owners do. Besides it wouldn’t play well on the nightly news. Occasionally there’ll be a news story about some poor sap who’s house was searched because of some unrelated issue and will be found to have a couple of the banned semi-autos and a stockpile of 300 rounds. The media will make vague references to militia groups, separatists and the Tea Party, and the countless lives that may have been saved…..

I believe we are much closer to this or something like it than many realize…..

Video: The Torch of Freedom is Almost Out

Chaos is being reported in areas across the United States by the news media. In just the past few weeks governmental corruption, terrorism, and attacks on police have filled the headlines. Perspective is everything. Is this the beginning of a long, dark time in our country’s history or a bump in the road?

With the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email scandal coming to a close with no charges it is becoming more obvious that Washington protects Washington. The vast majority of these politicians do care about Americans. The precept for which the government serves us is long, long gone.

Below David(aka SouthernPrepper1) voices his opinion and concern related to the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton and the current state of the country.

  • The Two Party Political System

    The Two Party Political System

I was listening to a local radio talk show host and the subject of the 21016 Presidential election came up. He took a call and was asked the question who he was going to vote for and he answered “Probably Gary Johnson.”

    I scoffed at the idea.

Then I started thinking about why I discounted this very intelligent man’s choice. Well – the reason is pretty simple and we all know it: Votes going for the Libertarian Party are votes taken from the Republican Party thus it favors Hillary Clinton. I firmly believe this to be true and also firmly believe our two party system is broken – or at least highly damaged. With that said – I understand why he is looking at Gary Johnson.

    hillary-trump

The political system in Washington is corrupt beyond measure. Politicians all say similar things such as “We must improve education” and “We need to reduce the national debt” – yet they accomplish quite the opposite. Donald Trump proclaims he will accomplish so much that you and I would likely agree. Here is the problem: It is not up to him. He cannot simply order a wall to be built between Mexico and the United States. He cannot simply say “No Muslims allowed to enter the United States.” So much of the President’s powers are at the mercy – or at the approval – or Congress.

    Feel better? I don’t.

This Republican-controlled Congress was voted in the get things done and stand up against the Obama regime. They have been anemic at best. The corruption and empty promises surround any real accomplishments.

President Hillary Clinton? Seems just as Obama has been able to accomplish numerous objectives with Congress she would likely be able to do the same. Damaging.

Back to the two-party system. It could work. I don’t believe even a viable third party would make a difference with the state of Washington today. Fundamental change has to take place and I just don’t see it happening.

What Did You Do To Prep This Week?

This last week has been interesting. With gun control being a hot topic and many in Congress agreeing that some measure of gun control legislation is needed gun shops of busy. Call it unneeded panic buying or being prudent I put back more ammunition. My emphasis was on .223/5.56 and 9mm.

    I also bought 3 additional Magpul PMAG’s.

I ordered a few items but will talk about them once they come in.

Flying a different flag than that which most people are familiar with could draw unwanted attention. I could see the black Gadsden flag being looked at as some crazy terrorism symbol by neighbors.

Constitution: Another Step Closer to It’s Death

The death of Antonin Scalia brings the death of the Constitution one step closer to reality. As the longest-serving member of the Supreme Court Justice Scalia provided a solid foundation for upholding Conservative beliefs. He was known as an “originalist.” With his absence the court will continue forward with 8 members.

This is a disaster for liberty and freedom.

First – decisions can be made with the remaining 8 Supreme Court Justices. The current makeup of the court is fairly split 50/50 between Conservative and Liberal ideologies. Upcoming cases involving abortion, immigration, unions, health care, affirmative action, and religious freedom may be decided quite differently with Scalia’s absence.

Should the court rulings be split 4 – 4 the lower court rulings will stand.

    So – what happens now?

Obama will nominate someone to replace Scalia. I suspect that he will find someone who most would consider a moderate. With the track record of Republicans in Congress they will be pressured to pass this candidate through. We do not need a Moderate we need a Scalia-like Conservative. Maybe the Republicans will block nominees from now until a new President is elected. Doubtful. If Hillary or Sanders is elected our problems will just be magnified.

History is being made right in front of us.

  • Should Religious Leaders ‘Get Political’? Yes, But …

Should Religious Leaders ‘Get Political’? Yes, But …

Rourke: The following is another insightful post written by James Robison and originally published HERE at The Stream.

    By James Robison

The U.S presidential race is heating up with the Iowa caucus just around the corner, and whenever a preacher, priest or rabbi addresses some issue of national and moral importance that our political leaders are involved in, we hear the cry, “Stay out of politics!” That view is dangerously misguided.

I have often said that religious leaders should champion principles rather than parties and personalities. When pastors rush to jump on board this or that politician’s campaign, it risks making the church appear to be an arm of a party or politician. But the solution isn’t to disengage from politics. That’s deeply dangerous. The answer instead is an energetic championing of foundational principles — including the dignity of all human life, the importance of human freedom and justice for all, the danger of unchecked political power and unlimited government, and the importance of living within our national means so we don’t drown future generations under our public debt. Championing these foundational principles means that even religious leaders sometimes will, and must, “get political.”

What if William Wilberforce had decided to “not get political” in the face of the English slave trade? What if Martin Luther King, Jr., had decided to “not get political” when it came to institutionalized racism a half a century ago? Of course they should have gotten political, and we thank God they did. But today, when faced with a culture where the innocent unborn are being slaughtered by the millions and sold for parts, and where those who aren’t aborted face the prospects of a crippling national debt a generation from now if something isn’t done very soon, well then suddenly we are supposed to “not get political.”

    Nonsense.

The truth is that all people of faith, and certainly preachers of the Word of God, are obligated to speak out boldly and to stand for their convictions. People with a secular, humanist, God-denying view that assaults Judeo-Christian biblical views and diminishes the importance of America’s founding documents are continually organizing in every community. They force their views on the population through protests and radical political activism while never voluntarily yielding an inch of their “sacred” turf, however unsacred it actually is. They expect the church community to shut up and go back to sleep, and keep our faith to ourselves.

Yes, our battle is not against flesh and blood, and we must toil for our principles winsomely and with grace, but strive we must.

There are some people who love God who have asked me, “James, are you getting too political?” Exactly what does that mean? Am I concerned? Yes. Do I care? Yes. Do I love God and people? Yes. Do I want to assist the suffering, homeless and elderly? Yes. Am I called to help rebuild the walls, restore the foundation, and faithfully present the one reliable standard — the Word of the living God? Yes, and all of this is also why I am compelled to “get political.”

But don’t misunderstand me. Although it is the right of any citizen to endorse a candidate, I don’t think it is the wisest practice for preachers in most cases. Instead, I suggest church leaders exhort all candidates, parties and voters to champion principles essential to freedom. I gladly pray for and with any candidate and have with many during this campaign.

The candidates know I don’t endorse but exhort them to seek the wisdom of Divine Providence. This keeps the door open to communicate concerns, as I have not committed to only one. I will talk to, counsel, challenge, pray for and with any candidate running for any office or holding any office. I will love them all even if I firmly disagree. But understand: I will not be silent concerning issues of life and freedom, becoming an inspire-no-one preacher. As a minister of the Gospel and one called to deliver the truth that sets us free and keeps us free, I will endorse biblical truth, compassion, strong marriages and families, and the importance of everyone assuming responsibility for their actions.

I must speak truth in the political sphere as well as elsewhere, confronting evil and foolishness in government in the same way the prophets of the Bible did. And I challenge all leaders in the faith community to stand up for faith, freedom and life. In spite of the protestations to the contrary, many of the secularists with their grip on the reins of power in our nation’s institutions don’t want an open discussion of the root problems facing our nation and world, so they focus on disqualifying the opponent. If they can get the public to dismiss or disqualify the faith perspective, they don’t have to defend their own inadequate solutions.

But don’t fall for it. Don’t fall for their invitation to practice “freedom of worship” but not freedom of religion both in and beyond the public square. Fulfill your stewardship responsibilities as people born into a republic. If you were a Christian trapped in North Korea, you would have various stewardship responsibilities as member of God’s household. Exercising the freedom to vote would not be one of them. But you were blessed to be born in a constitutional republic. That means that thoughtfully participating in the democratic process is a part of your stewardship responsibilities as a servant of God.

I am grieved to discover that only a small percentage of eligible voters even avail themselves of that privilege and responsibility. It is our nation. Its failure or success depends in no small measure on our involvement. Study the candidates and issues, and vote faithfully for those who hold truth, freedom and sound principles dear.

I also encourage qualified people to serve in public office, whether on a homeowners’ association, PTA, school board, or in a political office at the local, state or national level. We need the best to run and be elected to serve for the benefit of the people. If called to such work, it is the Christian’s duty to answer that call.

As followers of God, we believe in the biblical view of history, in a Creator, in a purpose-filled creation, and of moral absolutes grounded in a perfectly good Creator. We believe that for any law to work properly, it must align with the truths and purposes revealed in the book of the Bible and in the book of nature, both authored by a good and loving God. These include the truth that all humans are made in the image of God and so every human is precious, free and responsible for his actions.

And that truth means embracing and championing the sound principles of truth, justice, liberty and personal stewardship. We also embrace the family as a cornerstone for a sustainable society. We resist political efforts to redefine the family until the idea of marriage, older than any government, ceases to have any meaning.

We also embrace the community of faith as salt and light in this world, not as something to be left in the cupboard of society, out of the public light. We embrace civil government as the protector of our freedom but not the provider of our needs.

If championing all this means “getting too political,” then so be it. We are called to get political, not in a ham-fisted and partisan way that falls for the cult of this or that personality, but by championing foundational principles and speaking prophetically to a government that in so many ways has lost its way. So let’s be a light that helps reveal the way.
