Thoughts on Emergency Funds: In modern society today there is a large percentile of the population that live paycheck to paycheck. I’ve been there and to put it simply it sucks.

It doesn’t take an EMP or economic collapse to have a personal SHTF. Job loss, health issues, and legal troubles can result in personal SHTF conditions with all of the stress and emotional swings that a typical SHTF may confront you with.

Having a decent emergency fund will help absorb unexpected and unfortunate events. Can’t afford to put back money to build an emergency fund? How often are non-needed items purchased where that money could really be put to the side?

We’ve discussed the violent tendencies of Antifa and the level of “threat” they and other more radical members of the Left provide. I found myself in the minority as I predict a higher level than most others. That’s OK. What I am seeing is a dedicated effort by some who run in the Antifa circles to truly take training seriously. Of course, their numbers are tiny compared to the many efficient fighters on the right.

Understand I promote no violence and wish for even less. I just have a vision for what the future holds.

Doing so with a knife is certainly better than with nothing. There is no mention of loved ones nearby so assuming there are none – if the threat is armed with a gun – you’re dead. If the threat is armed with a knife – create separation and RUN!! If the threat is unarmed – they are dead. Forget what is seen in the movies.

There are few certainties in life and even fewer in predicting the intricacies of conditions post-SHTF. I often see people flat out state that when the SHTF “gold and silver will be worthless”. History suggests something quite different.

Through many societal, economic, and governmental collapses, gold and silver has been used in a variety of transactions from buying food to bribing politicians and law enforcement. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule but those are the exceptions.

Personal choice dictates the purchase or silver or ammunition or both. To suggest it is a waste of money to purchase precious metals, well, is at a minimum just wrong.

Ammunition prices continue to drop. This is at a local Wal-Mart. I can’t help but remember – and keep it in front of me – those times in history when ammunition was hard to find and/or became very expensive. With the low prices today stocking up is a very prudent thing to do.

Remember – it is just a matter of time before something happens to cause ammunition to skyrocket or become scarce.

Trying to mount a Yaesu 2900R 2M Ham radio in my Jeep JK. Not the easiest thing to do.  Without the use of a metal roof(mine has a soft top) I cannot get a ground plane for the antenna. It can be done but often without the best results.

While these memes and videos are pretty funny it is a serious concern when the media is so slanted to one side that they not only drive public opinion away from the truth but also provide free reign for the government to distance itself from the Constitution with no accountability.

While Donald Trump Jr. can meet with a Russian lawyer and receive the full force of the MSM, Hillary Clinton can keep top secret information on an insecure server and delete thousands of emails, destroy hard drives and cell phones – and get a pass.

I’ve been approached by vendors wanting me to push their products. Sure. I don’t have a problem with that IF their products are any good AND they send me their products to test. Sound fair? I think so. They want to get YOU to buy their products and they want ME to help with that – just “because”. Crazy.

It’s been brought up that I never have a bad review. I guess for the most part that is true – for the most part. I have tested products that suck – and I don’t report it. I guess I should and pass that information on. I’ll change that. The main reason I haven’t more in the past is I hate putting my time and effort into something that disappointed me to start with. As stated – I’ll change that.

The media is hyperventilating over Donald Trump Jr. and his meeting with a Russian lawyer. Did he meet with the lawyer to get dirt on Killary? Yes. Are we really expected to believe that given the same opportunity the Killary Camp would NOT have done the same? Insanity.

Now – Killary’s running mate Tim Kaine has suggested “We are now beyond obstruction of justice,” the Virginia Democrat told CNN Tuesday. “This is moving into perjury, false statements and even potentially treason.”

So Kaine is suggesting the sitting President may be open to a firing squad. Interesting.

I have to admit though I saw many similar statements being thrown around about Obama over the last 8 years. Free speech, right? The difference is Mr. Kaine is a member of Congress. I think he should be a little more careful in his suggestions than “Billy Bob” at the local trailer park.

The new above ground pool is coming along nicely. Having over 3,000 gallons of water available is a good thing. I’m looking into a system where I could tap into that reservoir and use it for firefighting.

Looking for an all-metal gas can? Found a jerry can replica on Amazon for under $30 with free shipping. I believe this is the exact same one I just check out at Tractor Supply – where it was around $60.

I ordered one. Plan to mount it to my bug out trailer which I should get back in October some time. Wish the old military jerry cans were still available at decent prices.

Was considering changing the name of my take on coming events from the American Reformation to a more recognizable term like – “Second Civil War”. The reasoning behind this is purely recognition. People read “CW2” and they know exactly what I am referring to. “American Reformation” – not so much. We’ll see.

So I’ve started a new project I don’t believe I mentioned before. I am building a hidden gun storage frame. It’s sorta like this:

The one I’m building will have a hinged front held shut with magnets. It will be sized for a pistol and depending on how it comes out a rifle sized version may be in order. I’ll post some pictures up once it’s complete.

Gov. Chris Christie has received tremendous criticism over his sitting on a beach outside his house and how he has responded to the situation. While he may not have made the best decision the MSM exaggerated what took place. I kinda like how he just speaks his mind and tells it like it is.

Garden continues to produce well. A few more plants have died which they are swiftly added to the compost bin. Replanting several new cucumber and squash plants has been completed. The picture below shows several varieties of tomatoes.

If you are setting up a shooting range on your own property chicken wire strung between a couple posts make it very easy to mount targets. Throw some clothes pins up to hold the targets and you’re good to go.

Saw a thread on a FB survival group I frequent where someone was asking about bugging out to an island in the middle of a large lake. I guess that could be an option if the location was just right. How long to stay on the island would be a question. If the only supplies would be carried on the kayak or boat then long term might be considered weeks – at best.

Pre-stage supplies? Interesting thought.

Mentioned the other day about an AR pistol build I am working on. I ended up ordered the Sig SBX brace although I very much like the Shockwave Blade. Why the Sig? Because. Yeah – that’s it. Just wanted to try something different. Worse case if I hate it I’ll sell it and get the Shockwave.

Looking at an optic for the above mentioned AR pistol had me wanting to do something different than what I have done in the past. My favorite AR pistol optic is the Bushnell TRS-25. Looking for something different I came across a Sightmark Wolverine CSR Red Dot. First-hand reviews are good. It has a 4 MOA dot which is a bit big. We’ll see.

I think Sightmark is similar to Condor. Condor used to be a name that went with “airsoft” quality. Not anymore. Sightmark has been turning up their game.

What a weekend. Busy!! Spent Saturday going down the Catawba River. Some in the group kayaked while others went down in floats. Ended up baking in the sun for close to 5 hours. Going down the river is very peaceful and relaxing – though I am worn out afterward.

Movies: I’ve been on the mood to watch some old school survival movies lately. The original Red Dawn of course. On The Beach is another. How about THEM!? I’ve been thinking about starting LOST  – the series. I liked it when it first came out but it got so weird.

Solar Cooking: Perfect weather for cooking something in my Sun Oven. Think I’ll do a chicken. Maybe a couple baking potato’s as well.

Antifa: I had heard a lot about Antifa’s Summer of Rage in the Spring. What happened? Last I saw some of them were getting their ass handed to them when they got out of line at some protests.

Large Tent: One thing I do not have is a large, family sized tent. I have a 4-man tent but I am talking one of those huge tents with more than one room. If I have to relocate to the bug out retreat a large tent would assist in relieving some cramped space that we would face.

Spent the weekend at my brothers in Georgia. Did quite a bit of shooting especially with my Springfield Operator 1911 45ACP. I am getting closer to fully converting to the 1911 versus striker fire pistols. The reasons would make for another post but I will say that accuracy is just phenomenal. While every single gun I own has the capability of shooting better than I – the Operator does an excellent job providing an opportunity to maximize my abilities.

Here is an 11-12 yard, 7 shot group my brother shot out of my Operator:

7 shots! Excellent. For what it’s worth – this was done shooting Monarch 230 grain FMJ budget rounds.

I also took a few long-range shots(60 yards):

I had a chance to check out his Canik SF Elite which he just purchased. Fantastic pistol. The Canik’s trigger was simply amazing and its accuracy was phenomenal as well. Ergonomics are excellent. Can you tell I liked the SF Elite?

A unique topic that I see one in a while in prepper forums has to do with survival on the sea. Basically, there are those that suggest the idea; bug out is to get in a boat and head out to the ocean. I can certainly see some benefits. Low population density, good visibility in all direction, and a readily available food source. Of course, there are drawbacks as well.

Supreme Court gives Trump an important victory in his effort to reduce travel from six countries that have ties to terrorism. Notice I didn’t say “Muslim” countries? The fact that these countries are mostly Muslim has little to do with the ban. The terrorism has to do with the ban.

Now – the fact that they are mostly Muslim may have a lot to do with why the instances of terrorism are so high. The countries involved are Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.

I cannot believe there are people demanding that those from these countries that want to come to the United States and have no relatives or ties to anyone here “MUST BE LET IN!!”

I had mentioned that last week had been super busy. Well, it continued into the weekend. All good but very busy. Had planned a kayak trip Sunday morning but still getting over this sickness that has been running through the house.

While so many celebrities have decided to become political and call out segments of the population as racists, homophobes, inhuman, anti-children, anti-old people, and just simply mean and stupid there are a few things that can be done in recourse.

First- as a consumer do NOT give them or any of their projects your money. They get paid millions of dollars to sit atop their hypocritical throne. Spending money on their movies and other projects is supporting them. I won’t do it.

I live in the district Mick Mulvaney gave up when he went to work in the Trump administration. I am glad that the election held Tuesday put Ralph Norman  – a local Republican – in his seat.

I have had excellent luck using calcium nitrate in the garden this year. Early on I had a lot of rain and some of the small squash plants started rotting on the ends. Assuming a ph problem I spread some calcium nitrate around the plant being careful not to touch it – then watered.

Illinois continues to struggle with budgetary issues putting them in “crisis mode”. An out of control government overspending and overpromising is the cause. It continues across this great country in most every state in one way or another.

FYI – I have started posting over at SeasonedCitizenPrepper.com again. If you are unfamiliar this was a website I started years ago geared towards older preppers. Over the last 6 months, I have been seeing so much about the challenges of getting older AND prepping that I had to do it. I also had some fellow bloggers tell me I should do it.

So – DONE! My plan is to post twice per week on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. Things may change with that schedule. We’ll see. Also, have a lot of updating to do with the site behind the scenes but will take my time with that. 1776 is my main priority.

Amazon continues to be a source for almost anything – cheaper than what can be bought locally. I buy grain-free dog food for my husky’s which is can be fairly expensive. I’ve been paying $24 for a bag of Purina One Grain-Free and just ordered same size bag off Amazon for $17.99 – free shipping.

A couple of projects this weekend.

First – refurbishing a gas grill donated to me. Had a gas grill and it stopped working. Was planning on buying one and almost spent the $300 when I had a chance to get this smaller, non-stainless one. Here is a “before” picture:

Interested in making a few ammo can projects. One would be an Ammo Can Battery Box. Another is an Ammo Can Radio. Lastly – an Ammo Can Communications box. This weekend will start gathering and ordering supplies.

Shooter targets GOP Congressman at a charity baseball game practice. I stuck my neck out and predicted on social media it would be some nutcase with a political agenda. Sure enough that fact held true. I spent a good amount of time reading peoples opinions on this assclown and even checked out his Facebook page.  This guy was a full-blown anti-Trump, anti-Republican, Bernie robot. Whether he was leaning left of right doesn’t change the fact he was a couple cans short of a six-pack.

What does matter is the amount of celebrating I saw about this guy. Yes – there were people calling this guy a hero and celebrating his actions.

Above is just one example. He actually called him an American Patriot. I posted about this Mike Uribe and he actually took a screenshot of my account and reposted it. Apparently he is very proud.

I consider this action – this assault on that baseball field – another step in the direction towards total civil war. Most people reading that would say I’m just another nutcase. So be it. History will tell the truth….eventually.
