On the Bushnell TRS-25

NOTE: Published a little over 1 year ago the Bushnell TRS-25 remains an excellent choice for an optic regardless of budget.

The Bushnell TRS-25 has been around for over a decade and countless thousands have been mounted on firearms of all makes, models, and calibers. I have one atop my personal SHTF gun. This is my go-to firearm that if I had to send rounds downrange against a band of motorcycle riding brigands – this would be the one.

There’s a lot of gearheads out there suggesting that if they have spent more money than you on guns and corresponding gear, well, they stand a much better chance than you surviving the inevitable fast-approaching zombie apocalypse. I would agree that quality is important and frequently the higher quality knife, firearm, optic, etc. cost more. Here’s the thing: If it works, it works. Period.

The Bushnell TRS-25 red dot works. What does it do? It superimposes a red dot onto the target when the shooter looks at the target through the optic with both eyes open. It operates the same way as many optics offered by Sig, Vortex, Primary Arms, Aimpoint, and many more but it generally costs MUCH less. The specific model I have is the AR model that comes with the hi-rise mount.

A red dot optic is not rocket science. Here are a few specs on the Bushnell:

The Bushnell is waterproof, shockproof, and fog proof. It uses the popular CR2032 battery which I purchase at Dollar Tree for, you guessed it – $1. I keep an extra battery taped to my stock.

Forget all the BS that equipment snobs spew and save your money. If a red dot is what you are looking for – give the Bushnell TRS-25 a look.
