A few things worked on this week:
- Continued work clearing out the garden of weeds, grass and plants that have gone by. So looking forward to the Fall and the cooler temps.
- Placed a Springfield Armory 1911 Operator on layaway. This is one awesome gun.
- Met up with a friend of mine who is a new gun owner. SouthernPrepper1(David) got me access to a private range so we could do some shooting. Went great and for a newby he did a great job. Thanks SP1!!
- Picked up some lithium ion CR2032 batteries for my Bushnell TRS-25 red dot. Found them at the dollar store two batteries for $1.00.
- Took another trip down the river in a kayak. Great time!
- Started working on some SOP’s and checklist for the Group.
- Started reading 299 Days again. What a great series.
That’s about it. Been so busy with work and also started installing laminate flooring in my upstairs.
Your turn…..
Rourke
Decided getting a couple of 80% completed lowers wouldn’t be a bad idea considering all the rhetoric coming from the Democrats about another assault weapons ban. Asked around to a few friends about going in together so we could order enough to get the price down a little. Before it was all done we sent off an order for 17! I guess I wasn’t the only one feeling anxious about who the next president may be… Bought my son a new flash hider/suppressor attachment for his birthday. Got some repairs done on my 4×4 so it will be in peak condition just in case of an SHTF situation. Next big project will be acquiring a Simple Pump. I have a well but no way to pump the water if the power goes down. Thanks for this forum Roarke!
Our group meeting discussed THE COLLAPSE, an hour-long interview on YouTube each of us watched individually during the week.
One of us, from Puerto Rico, discussed a peaceful demonstration he was in back in 1980… turned into a riot. He showed us stab wounds, his hospital experience, and the demise of one of the attackers from “lead poisoning”.
We took turns reinforcing OPSEC, a breach and its failure to one person… then two… then half a half-school the next day. Bad idea!
Roarke I have one of those pistols and it is a fine piece , you will be happy with it . We bought a lot of food for the animals this last week . Helped a few friends put together there ARs this week. Still on the hunt for an older truck for a BOV . Other than that not much.
This is one hot summer in too many ways.Lost power last night from a very close lightning hit-happy for the rain though. Our generator worked fine-worth the investment.Rourke- nice pistol.
Spouse and I did some target practicing. Waiting for cooler temps and lower humidity to do firewood.Dont know how you southern folks take the heat.
Canning pickles-researched more re dwarf goats. Getting two small pastures ready for them.
The Tv news brings more intense violence and pain and chaos against our police.Hoping the NRC will survive whomever targets the convention .Some black groups have declared there will be violence. I suggest some cops be in undercover outfits.
Took quiet time by our pond last night to pray for all the chaos in the US and World-watched the Canada Geese – teaching their youngsters t o fly longer -they are practicing for their long autumn flights.Watched the beaver-nature is soothing.Lightning
Got a second headlamp, 2nd S&W 38, and ammo for the wife. Six boxes 22 mag. Went to the range with wife, she shot the new 38, Glock 19, 22 mag and 30-30 lever action. Paid off hospital bill. Picked up can goods, rice and beans. Still researching trailer, older model vehicle and land. Saddened to yet another shooting of police officers in Louisiana and like Lightning spent time praying – 2nd Chronicles 7:14. Keep Looking UP
Caught some .22 LR at wally world .. 5.5 cents per round so got max. Traded for issues AR/!2ga. cleaning kit and hoppe’s kit, Started to incubate my first 120 Quail eggs after buying an incubator of course. got materials to build brooder for same. Lot
‘s of gardening. A little “Sun’s out Guns Out” like JR says. Some food.. Worked and fed Bees, and set up an arrangement to trade for poultry supplies and birds. Worked witha a possible couple group members and set some time to get with them at a show to wander around and talk maybe buy some accessories. About 70 hour work week so other than reading and research, that’s about it.
I like that Springfield 1911!
Let’s see…
We finally rescued Goemon from intensive care unit yesterday. So far, so good.
Now the beans/bullets/dog cancer scale might shift a little.
I just ordered some Friendly Swede ferro rod/striker units from Amazon, as well as a dozen Fresnel lenses. Somehow, a plush Jurassic Park dino ended up in the order, as well.
We watched a dozen or so Creek Stewart videos on You-tube this morning, so my Wife is back in the mindset.
Went a gun show/prepper exposition. Gun show was packed and over priced. Exposition was pathetic. Should have gone to harbour frieght & costco. Took 10 minutes to see everything including the arts & crafts and Anderson windows guys. Oh well there were some people there and maybe I didn’t give it a chance, so maybe there’s hope. Went out later to a real shop and bought a Kimber Pro LTE II. Wanted something shorter & easier to carry than my full size 1911. Took care of my OT, but told DW it’s my anniversary present. Wonder what I’m buying her?
My 1911 is a RAI.
Scored 1000 rounds of .22…. $46 out the door.
Check your local Dick’s.
Did nothing preparedness related, taking a couple week break to re-evaluate and generally unplug.
