For those that have hung out here with the “1776 Nation”(that’s you!) for a while or over at my previous site where I would spew my musings, you know I am a big fan of the TV show Jericho. For those not familiar, Jericho was a series that came out back in 2006 and was watched by preparedness-mind folks weekly. There were Jericho watch parties and often discussions after each episode.
Show Summary via Wikipedia:
The storyline centers on the residents of Jericho, a small northwest Kansas town, in the aftermath of a nuclear attack on 23 major cities in the contiguous United States. The series begins with a visible nuclear detonation of unknown origin in Denver, Colorado. Despite initial belief that it was an accident, Dale Turner, one of the characters, receives a phone call from his mother in Atlanta, Georgia. The call is then cut out by the sound of a nuclear blast. Upon showing this to others, it is revealed that the bombings were deliberate. Problems are compounded by loss of power and modern communications, effectively isolating Jericho. Later, power is restored to Jericho by what is alluded to as the efforts of the U.S. government but an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) from an unknown source disables all electronics.
Above is episode #1. Take a watch or download it while it’s still available. If you have Netflix the series can be watched there – or the DVD can be purchased HERE.
Good stuff!

Definitely needed a 3rd season…instead we get a Little Mermaid redo and Rings of Power – both of which are a dumpster fire.
Excellent series but definitely too short of a run. Good acting but I especially liked the different scenarios and “human” conflicts covered in the show. It helps the mind formulate it’s own possible scenarios for each of us and our particular situations. Thanks JR for giving access to this series and many others for us to enjoy, ponder over and act upon.
Just my 2 1/2 cents worth,
Myke
Inf. please
Our 43 years old mag flashlights have died … they served us well.
Any advice on buying rechargeable flashlights .Thanks. Lightning
I’m pretty sure it was in the Jericho discussion group that I first ran into you, for that matter.
Liked the show so much, bought it on dvd. Can watch it whenever I want.
Really depends on what you want out of a light. The sad thing is the days of a light that just has a on/off button without all the other 10 light settings are rare to find these days. I am really liking the Olight S2R Baton 2 rechargeable and Klarus xt2cr brand of lights. There are many others but these two brands have replaced all the other lights I currently have.
It’s really amazing how flashlight technology has advanced. One of the things I’ve done is switch to the lithium-ion rechargeable AA batteries over any of the ni-cad or ni-mh type batteries because they last a lot longer.
I was really surprised that Jericho even made it to primetime TV however, the storyline progression itself is probably what got itself cancelled. Sure there were some glaring mistakes in it, but it gave people ideas at times and how important it is that you really do need to rely on your neighbors and friends instead of the gov’t to get you through a crisis.
I liked the messages in morse code at the beginning of the show.
There’s a movie out there, most never heard of it but it’s called Remnants (2013) a CME event happens, and a neighborhood gets together to survive it. Many people thought it was a rip off of the story Lights Out, but it wasn’t. Just throwing that out there.
Can you imagine being the young man who crawled out of his car and looked off in the distance? He sure decided that cloud was not a thunderstorm in the making.
I enjoyed the series, even if it did have some hokey episodes. Overall, rather thought provoking.
Many thanks! The serial “ended” before it ended and that was a shame! I just bought the DVD.
