For over a year the firearms market has been a rollercoaster ride. The threat of civil unrest spreading across the country with COVID right beside it drove people to gun shops sending prices upwards and supplies down. Ammunition came under high demand and prices skyrocketed.
Everyone ignored magazines(for the most part).
Market conditions have certainly leveled out and prices have improved. Even with an anti-gun White House and Left-controlled Congress, things are heading in the direction of normal, though we are still quite a ways. Once the ramblings of serious gun control begin prices will likely get back on that rollercoaster once again.
Back to magazines. Anti-gunners have long targeted “high capacity magazines” frequently professing legislation that limits magazine capacity to 10 rounds(or less). Right now as of this writing magazines are available in large quantities and at very good prices. A few months ago I purchased an additional 200 AR magazines at rock-bottom prices. Why? The main reason was to secure an ample supply stream that would suffice for myself and others should I need to equip them.
When, and I do believe it’s when not if – severe gun control is implemented there is no doubt magazines will play a major role. When this occurs what you have at the time may be all you can get. No more. Seems to me it would be a good idea to snatch up some extra mags for any magazine-fed firearms you have soon.
A couple suggestions on where to go to stock up:
- Global Ordnance – they are a growing industry leader of firearms and firearms accessories including magazines.
- Palmetto State Armory – watch their incredible sales for great prices on package deals.
- Your local gun shop.
Stack it to the rafters!!

I have mentioned before and I will do it again. I really love the new drum style mags. The duel drum 100 round mags for the Ruger Mini-14 and AR platforms are particularly awesome. They are actually in my opinion, much more ergonomic than the conventional banana style mags because they bare very compact and unobtrusive. Just sayin’ …
I’ve been wanting to try some – including the Magpul 60-rounder.
A surplus of commonly used magazines would also beef up the ability to barter if/when that becomes useful…
Absolutely David. Whether it’s barter as you mentioned or making a few dollars helping out fellow Patriots – it works.
Buy It Cheap!
Stack It Deep!
Just saying.
You said it best RC!!!
I live in a state that has magazine restricts 10rds or less. Any magazine over 10rds had to registered. The citizen can not buy any replace mags over 10rds. Only 2 privileged classes can buy standard capacity magazines. If you were to move into the state you can’t keep you mags legally unless they were rendered 10rd compliant. So if you think you have enough mags double it.
