What foods to store in a food storage program is a popular topic, especially with the level of inflation – but what about making meals from that food? Not so much.
This recipe is extremely easy in both its preparation as well as its cooking. It can be made on a Coleman stove or a typical home grill.
Ingredients
2 ½ cups chicken gravy (or use cream of chicken soup)
1-2 cans chicken
4 cups hot cooked rice
Instructions
- Cook rice to the desired consistency
- Add chicken to the gravy/soup and heat
- Serve chicken/gravy over rice
Recipe Tip: Season as desired. A bit of salt, pepper, and paprika will add additional flavoring. A can of corn can be added as an additional side dish.
This dish is inexpensive, simple to make – and uses foods that have a long shelf life.
Enjoy!!
We do this A LOT!
Looks delicious !!! Arlene
Since we’re on the subject of food, I fixed a large can of Keystone beef the other night that had expired in early 2019, and it was still as good as it should have been.
Not to hijack Rourke’s recipe, but I soaked 3 packages of Great Value scalloped potatoes overnight, then I slightly reduced the amount of liquid shown on the box, added the flavoring and the meat, and baked it in a small covered roaster on medium heat for several hours. The family fought over it to the point that I was lucky to get one helping!
Now THAT sounds tasty!!!
My wife did up a large can of Keystone beef with vegetables the other night, it made six good size servings. Will have to try John’s recipe.
Sounds great!
