For the Recce Rifle project, I’ve chosen a stripped lower and a trigger group.
First – the lower. I’ve ordered a standard PSA lower. I chose the PSA for a fairly simple reason – it works, was in stock, and didn’t break the bank. It may not be as fancy as Aero, it’s not billet, but it’s a high-quality 7075 aluminum lower that will function as well as the others. There is no sacrifice here.
Specifications:
Forged Mil-Spec Lower
Made from 7075-T6 Aluminum material
Black Hardcoat Anodized Finish
Multi-Caliber
“Safe” & “Fire” marked Fire Selector
Cost: $99 at time of publishing
Next up – the trigger group.
I’ve installed and used several triggers from a company called HiperFire. I’ve continued to be impressed with their products, thus, I see no reason not to continue. The HiperTouch EDT is a fantastic defensive trigger. It has a pull weight between 4.5 -5.5 lbs with a very short, smooth trigger break and an audible, short reset. A truly great rigger that leads to better accuracy.
The HiperTouch EDT trigger is on order and due in any day. Cost? $99.99.
What’s next?
We’ll see next week.

I prefer Timney Triggers for my ARs. Very simple to install and don’t seem to require 3 hands. I like the curved trigger (20 years in the Army plus 25 as a civilian using one) and the 4# meets all my requirements. The 3# is in my Designated Marksman rifle. They are more (a little less than double) than the one you have.
Reasonable choices.. . though I like the PSA TG’s fine personally..
I personally prefer to buy a lower designated as a pistol I can use for a riles length, rather than buy rifle that cannot be used as a pistol without FFL SBR stickers and such.
I mean if I had anything like that..
