What a week!!!! Emotions ran all ends of the spectrum and ended certainly up on the high side.

Made a couple significant purchases –

Ordered an upper to further a new AR build project. I selected the 16″ Mid State Specter .223 Wylde Gen3 Slim Rail version. This is my second upper purchased from Mid State Firearms so obviously I am very happy with my first.

Ordered a Yaesu 2900R 2 meter ham radio. After a lot of research I selected this mobile radio due to its excellent power(75 watts), not fan, and rugged reputation. Many in the 4×4 community use this radio while off-roading and with a tall whip antenna report excellent range. I have not ordered any additional cables, mounts – or even the appropriate antenna yet. November 29th I start ham radio classes.

I considered purchasing an HF radio such as the Yaesu FT-857D. With some recent events I don’t feel the sense of urgency to get this level of radio right now – but will early 2017. Having the lack of knowledge on how to use a radio of this type I’ll look closer at getting one after my upcoming class.

Also ordered a ProMag 15 round magazine for my Hi Point 9mm Carbine as well as 2 30-round Kel-Tec PMR30 magazines. Found these on  sale from The Sportsmans Guide.

Made some headway on organizing supplies. Seems like an endless battle. Getting there.

Started some Christmas shopping and did so with a preparedness-twist: bought my youngest a Smith & Wesson M&P15-22 .22LR semi-auto carbine. I have one of these already and love it.

Sounds like “Guns and Radio Week”!

OK – how about you?

What prepping have you done over the last week?

Picked up another crossbow (sniper 370) 175 draw for silent hunts on hogs and white tails. Boss gave me shops frig (free is nice), building another home defense kit that will be staged on the other side of house.

Like the earlier idea of plastic/rube tubs, but still picked up some 5 gallon buckets & gamma lids. Also grabbed some more ammo cans, sure miss picking them up for $5. Got some .308 & .45 and a couple of 308 pmags. Made it through book VII of 299 Days. Listening on audio now makes the 1 1/2 hr commute more acceptable. Happy about the results of the election, but the aftermath is becoming rediculous. Told DW & kids that situational awareness is more important now than ever.

It was an anxious week, I feel some sense of relief. Trust Trump will do what he says and not turn out to be such a weasel as obama. He said he was a Christian, not. Said he believed in Biblical family, not. Was going to unite the nation, not. Was bring positive change, not. Did a 180 turn on everything. Hope Trump does allow Pence a significant role in the government! Placed him over transition team instead of that crook Christie! Good step in my opinion.
    – This week I received a shipment of emergency food, 223, 9mm and 30.06 ammo – pre-election orders. Spent Wednesday at the range with AR, AK, 30.06 and 9mm blowing off steam and enjoying the results! Added 25 gallons of water and packed some storage dog food. That is all.
    – Keep Looking UP

My Christmas shopping’s done! The last bit was some emergency foods that we haven’t tried before and a boot knife for the daughter. Then, I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket, so we hit the local restaurant supply store and got a few things there. Finished my day off by doing some unplanned 4-wheeling in an old Buick with a ruptured catalytic converter and a donut on the rear driver’s side.

Finished building the second AR-15 I mentioned last time. Bought some extra canned food, rice, etc. Also planned a Costco trip to pick up more seasonings, coffee, coconut oil, etc. Picked up two 10 gallon and two 20 gallon plastic barrels with locking lids to build caches with. Now we need to decide what all should go in them, paint them, and then figure out places to hide them. We won’t bury them as the idea is to provide easily accessible emergency supplies if we ever have to tell our three children to flee the house and hide.

Helped my son build a goat shed for his place.

I’ve been watching the antics of the demonstrators. There is a method to the madness. Saw an article in Huffington Post on the Electoral College and how our “democracy has gone crazy”. Their point was that the “college” is there to assure democracy works. And as such, with all the people demonstrating, their contention is that when the votes in California are finally counted, that Clinton will have a definite majority of votes, and the “college” should vote for Clinton, not Trump. I’m not the smartest person around, but I don’t think I’m stupid. If they are counting California votes and the electoral votes have already been dedicated to Hillary, then using her own words, “What difference does it make”?

Oren – years ago I was in favor of using the popular vote for the decision. Since then – well, with age comes wisdom. The electoral college prevents on area of the country from dominating the rest. Equal and fair representation. The “college” will not change their votes. Delegates are chosen by their party.

Excellent Patriot Believer – I know some guys that love drop leg holsters. I like the concept however my experience has been same as yours. I went with one that was rated high and minimized the flopping around when running. It still did and was very uncomfortable – but to each his own. Glad we have options.

Oren, We are getting goats this spring. What kind of goats does your son have?
Single Mom happy to hear that you had a good week !!
Well Obama wasnt my choice for President -so buck up kiddos and get used to it-Donald Trump is ours.
I dont go to Malls but at a mall about 30 miles from us had a shooting today-they havent gotten the suspect yet.
Prepping this week was nil as the acute bronchitis I had turned into pneumonia(new antibiotic etc.) and my husband is getting this
respiratory infection – so we will be off to the VA ER soon..
I too am glad Trump is choosing Pence and I hope that Trump will not allow S.Palin to have a role.I believe shes always out for herself .

    1. JR says:

Thanks Lightning – I used to be a Sarah Palin fan – not so much anymore. Regardless of her intentions she brings a lot of baggage with her. Continued prayers for your husband.

      1. SingleMom says:

I’d heard about Palin while she was Alaska’s governor and long before she hit the mainstream media. I liked her then, but yes, I agree that her family was her downfall. She seems a little too needy now, and I think she needs to step back and just work behind the scenes, if at all. Her family’s antics are too much like the Kardashians, and it’s negatively affecting what she claims to stand for.

While doing inventory & cleaning noticed I was low on ammo so I ordered some to get back to a comfortable level, started putting together two new “Thanksgiving day holiday boxes”, received a small order of Mountain House meals, ordered a half dozen mags, pair of knock off benchmade knives and two bottles each of Rum and rye whiskey.
