I listened to quite a bit of the Q&A with Jeff Sessions at his confirmation hearing on Day 1. Thought he gave some great answers. Political opposition is what it is – political opposition.

Ordered my 3rd pair of Merrell hiking shoes – love ’em. None are wore out just found some good deals and took advantage. I have two pair I wear now and the third will be put away. Waterproof – and super comfortable.

Something I do not hear much about in the preparedness community is concern over a pandemic. Seems that it is only a matter of time before a major outbreak occurs. I suppose statistically chances are so small that most – like myself – are concerned with other things. Just started reading The Jakarta Pandemic. So far really good.

The weekend is almost here……
There are many reasons why so many love their Kindle and Amazon Fire tablets. One huge advantage is you could literally go years without every buying a book to read as there are tons of free eBooks available. Don’t have a Kindle or Fire? No problem. There are apps that can be installed on most any cell phone or computer for free. No excuses!
Today’s Freebies
The Source: A Wildfire Prequel
Minimalist Living Box Set of Three eBooks
Mini Farming: A Beginners Guide
NOTE: If you see a free Kindle book that your interested in get it now. Prices change often and there is no way to tell how long the book will remain free. Before purchasing a free Kindle book on Amazon make certain the book is still free by making sure the price is $0.00. If it lists a price or says “read for free” or has a price for prime members the book is not free anymore.
I don’t know if my reasoning is sound but I have been making ionic / colloidal silver which is easy to do at home with a mason jar, a DC power source, some alligator clips, and distilled water. The stuff is useful for lots of things but for one in particular I bought a nebulizer to turn it into a mist to be inhaled to cure respiratory infections. For me it’s just theory but I think it should work.
Anyone else out there thinking along the same lines? Thoughts?
Well it depends on the pandemic. A viral pandemic really has no defense other than isolation, unless you have an inoculation before it is released.. If a virus cook time is 24 hours it will show soon enough to take measures. If the gestational time is 3 days it woudl cover the globe before it is recognized and all the smart people already infected. It’s a question of when… The how doesn’t much Matter.. The good news is that viruses burn out fast and are fragile. to oxygen and temperature unless designed to resist them, which would be malicious and expensive.
It’d be more likely for a super bug that is drug resistant, because there is nothing fragile about that.
I think we don’t talk about it because .. What can you do ? right ?
If we survive illness.. then normal preps are the thing to have done .. Food, water, shelter,Medical, defense… I mean short of Zombies 🙂
Thanks GG58 – I agree that many ignore pandemic and it’s level of likelihood due to an inability to fend off to a certain extent. EMP is another that many fail to omit just how likely it is too happen due to the incredible destruction and difficulty post-EMP life would be like.
Re : pandemics- Three books that I own and highly recommend are :
Herbal antivirals by Stephen H.Buhner
Herbal antibiotics by Stephen H Buhner
Viral Immunity by J.E. Williams,O.M.D.
Rosemary Gladstar hs written several books about Medicinal herbs which are all exc.
In this area of NYS people have been ill for three plus weeks with a severe SUPER COLD/ bronchial infection that has lasted very long and has been very severe -some people needing two or three antibiotics. It may be viral and then people get a secondary bacterial infection.( germs are rapidly changing and mutating into stronger
viruses)
I have been fighting this bug with ASTRAGalus- a herbal capsule made from a root and vit C.These help to strengthen the immunity.
and Delsym cough syrup which helps me sleep at night.
We will most likely lose the majority of the world pop. if a pandemic hits.
Those in the path of the huge ice storm that is coming please be careful. Lightning
The top two plants I would recommend to boost the immune system are moringa oliefera and ashwagondha. Be careful with the ashwagondha though as it is thought to be as effective as Viagra though has none of the side affects. 😉 I grow both of these plants.
JR and others-my son advises that anyone dieting have a regime that is 40-40-20
or 40-30-30. ,Lightning
Yeah,,, plans are good.. Log what you eat and watch the results.. If it’s working and sustainable then keep doing it. The thing that gets me every few years as I age is that the body changes what it needs or its response to what I am doing and I have to take another look and develop a new what works list.
Many diet Gurus want to say one size fits all .. It doesn’t. You can hammer a square peg into a round hole and make it work, but it never turns out well for the peg.
I find what works and then watch for trends in weight and energy. One off day or meal has little to do with anything, as long as it doesn’t drag you into other bad habits longer term. IMO it is a mistake to micro manage weight and diet as long as you have a plan and a little discipline to do it. Likewise fads are usually not all that useful .. people have been much the same for thousands of years and short of new medication .. not much behaves differently than it ever has. FADS are usually about marketing and money.
If you make it, you know what is in it and can control it. Then exercise and sleep. Sleep is tougher as we age as well. In our 20’s we are in shape and sleep well in spite of what we do. Over 40 we are in shape and sleep well because of what we do (or don’t), depending on how you look at it.
Anyway if it works .. do it .. if it aint working change it until it works.
