Fire Starting with a Fresnel Lens

I published this back in April and recently have seen an uptick in “fire starting” interest. Figured I’d throw it up again. Here’s a quick video demonstration using a fresnel lens to start a fire. I love these things. They are super rugged and durable – perfect to include in a backpack. If you’ve got some decent sun they can put out serious heat.

If interested the fresnel lens can be purchased HERE – $12.99 for two with free shipping.

Take care all.

Rourke- good inf. When I was a kid ( eons ago) we used to have fun when camping using a manfifying glass and leaves to start a fire.
Recently my daughter bought an aluminum bowl at a flea market and it started smoking- has anyone ever had that exp? Arlene

Arlene – Thanks for sharing. The aluminum bowl smoking? I assume you are referring to the sun maybe reflecting from the bowl and getting hot? I would believe it’s possible but I have not seen it. Interesting.
