Azithromycin as a Survival Antibiotic

NOTE: The following was previously published over at DoomandBloom.net.

One of the most commonly prescribed antibiotics is Azithromycin, known in the U.S. as Z-Pak, is now in a new veterinary version known as Bird-Zithro. In survival situations where you’re off grid and there no modern medical care for the foreseeable future, the medic for the family must stockpile medical supplies, and this includes antibiotics.

See how Azithromycin in the form of “Bird-Zithro” might fit into your survival plans to treat your, well, sick birds. Uses, dosages, precautions, and more are more are discussed in this video by medical preparedness writer Joe Alton, MD.

I invested years establishing my healthy gut microbiota with probiotics and lots of good healthy fermented foods, ensuring it flourishes by feeding it prebiotics and resistant starches… and avoiding chlorinated water.

Antibiotics would destroy this in seconds.

Is it true over 95-percent of our health comes from our diet?

Everything you’re saying wouldn’t help you if have a gunshot wound. Antibiotics might be the only thing that saves you. You can use honey or a sugar paste, but still think its not a bad idea to have some Antibiotics for worst case scenarios. I personally haven’t used Antibiotics in 20 plus years. I do believe in letting your body do it’s job first and only treat the symptoms, but then again I haven’t had a gunshot wound in the last twenty years either.

It is prescribed quite a lot certainly… There are several medications that treat the same ailments .. this one is a macrolide that works by stopping the growth of the bacteria, which is why you complete the entire prescription… and takes some time to see results. There are several interactions to be aware of for your BIRDS if they are important to you…
Gramma you are quite right that some antibiotics will take out internal fauna both friendly and unfriendly when taken. It can’t be helped. If the risk of not medicating, is greater than medicating and rebuilding the fauna, then you medicate. I had a very sever salmonella infection, and the Cipro they prescribed wiped out everything from my system.. necessarily. It took about 6 weeks to build everything back up. It was a good trade since I had lost 25 pounds in 3 days and was having hallucinations.. so the answer is .. depends .. on what you are treating and the trade off.
Take a look at the following: (there are many more sources)

We have many birds and it is a worthwhile option to have around.

…VERY good conversation with great information in each of your three comments Gramma, 3rdMan & GG58. Thanks for communicating each perspective so well, that’s why this community is the place to be for me!

Sometimes i neglect other approaches to wellness when focussing on what i am currently learning/investigating. For me, currently herbal medicine and oils of plants are my focus. Wish it had been part of my formative years so it was more intuitive but so glad to have choices that serve our needs AND the balance of those who share on this blog.

Just wanted to say there is a wealth of information in the archives Rourke attaches at the bottom of the posts listed as “related posts.” So even if the post on any given day seems not to speak to where you are, there is much available that might suit your interest/needs.

…got some seeds for spring with moringa being one of them. Excited to see what it brings to the table, even grown as an annual.

Stop to rest but don’t quit…..

It is always good to have antibiotics on hand and also probiotics and yeast fungal cream in case you get a yeast infection in very sensitive places( rectum and vagina)
If you need to take an antibiotic immediately start taking a probiotic along with it and or eat lots of yogurt. Lightning

Antibiotics are a very last resort for me. Unfortunately I went through heavy blasts of them a month ago administered through IV in the hospital when I had to have my gallbladder removed. I’m still trying to get back to normal. I make my own colloidal silver which actually beat the Z-pack early this year when one of my gal pals and I got the worst flu ever. She ran to the doctor and got the Z-Pack. I used my silver solution in a nebulizer. Before the week was out I was healed and she was still sick at two weeks so I gave her my nebulizer and the silver which did cure her. And … this gal is a registered nurse. lol
