How many out there just cannot function without their morning cup of coffee – or twelve? In today’s busy world, where many of us get less than the required amount of sleep, coffee and many specialty drinks have become extremely popular, providing a “kick” to help people get through their day.
If many of us are needing a boost now – what about in a situation where staying awake and aware could mean the difference between life and death? Think about it…..situations may be present that require manual labor working gardens, preparing food, building shelters, walking perimeters, conducting patrols, gathering firewood, etc. So, having an extra boost of energy could be very valuable.
Today, coffee and many energy drinks provide a dose of caffeine, a common stimulant. Red Bull offers up 110mg’s while a cup of coffee around 180 depending on the brand. Another option for getting caffeine is through the consumption of caffeine pills. These pills are very inexpensive and easy to store.
The storage of caffeine for post-SHTF and survival situations is not often discussed. I have used caffeine to help when sleep was lacking and I needed a “boost”. It works.
Hey, I’m not a doctor and have NEVER played one on TV. I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once, but that’s another story. Caffeine affects the body, and thus, consuming it should be discussed with your doctor.
So, the bottom line is that caffeine is something to consider stockpiling.

BTW – my favorite brand has been the ProLab 200mg Caffeine 100 Count pills. Under $8.00 very affordable.
I did caffeine pills in high school and swore I’d never touch them again. I am a BIG coffee drinker, though, so it’s always been part of my stores. Unfortunately, I only have enough right now for about 3 months, which isn’t nearly enough. I also need to buy a manual coffee grinder.
I’ve had good luck putting ground coffee in FoodSaver bags and glass jars. They don’t taste any different to me after several years, but I’m not that picky about what kind I drink and generally buy whatever’s cheapest at the moment. I’ve also learned to drink cold coffee, which cuts down on waste. Instead of letting the pot boil down to black goo, I just turn it off after brewing. However, powdered creamers need heat to dissolve, so if that’s what I’m using I have to mix it in the coffee before it cools down.
SingleMom – appreciate you sharing. I just started stocking up on coffee. Not a drinker of it myself, many others are, so, getting some for them. Good tip on the storage.
caffeine pills sound like they would be great for a boost if out and moving around on say a patrol hike, hunting or anytime to enhance situational awareness. people on BP meds should maybe shy away from them? IDK.
i haven’t posted in a while but i read your posts everyday, thanks for what you do.
Appreciate it Geezer. Regarding those with high blood pressure, they certainly need to be aware of how the caffeine affects their BP. As noted, many of these pills have similar caffeine levels as coffee. Good question!
Appreciate you stopping by on the regular. Working on posting more.
It’s my morning blood transfusion.
LOL…I believe it.
Just when you think the world can’t get any more crazy along comes
