Survival Recipe: No Bake Survival Cookies

Asteroids could be crashing through the atmosphere and zombies moaning in the streets – many of us will still crave something sweet. Food items like these Peanut Butter/Chocolate No Bake Cookies would serve as a great morale booster in high-stress times.

Notice something about the ingredient list below. They can all be stored as part of a food storage system. This recipe is something that can be completed with supplies from most food storage programs.

Ingredients

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
4 tbsp cocoa
1/2 cup peanut butter
3 cups oats (I use whole grain oats rather than quick oats)
1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine and mix sugar, milk, and cocoa powder then bring to a boil
  2. Boil above for 1 minute, add peanut butter and vanilla, mix thoroughly
  3. Add oatmeal
  4. Mix well
  5. Using a tablespoon scoop mixture out onto wax paper
  6. Allow to cool
  7. Eat up!!!

These cookies are high in calories – with a good amount of protein and carbs.

So….when the SHTF it doesn’t have to be all about MRE’s and freeze-dried foods – these Peanut Butter/Chocolate No Bake Cookies would be a welcome treat.

    Yum, thanks for the recipe. Brings back memories of my Home Ec class…we made no-bake cookies. I always include sweets in my preps and love rotating thru them. 🙂

    A new series of posts… TSHTF Cooking with Rourke! Group I was with use to make this for us on our weekend meetups as emergency food/snacks while on sentry duty at night. This was normally put into sandwich bags. Called Uncle Joe’s Moose Goo, took me a couple of hours to remember the name and find the recipe online.
    Basic Recipe:
    2 parts honey
    2 parts corn flour (NOT corn meal! I plan to try sweet rice flour soon.)
    1 part peanut butter (preservative-laden)
    Mix thoroughly, will take some time.
    Pack into Coghlan’s Squeeze Tube (REI, Campmor, etc), or in cold weather wrap in wax paper.
    Single Squeeze Tube Proportions (2-3 lunches w/ large tortillas):
    8 tbsp honey
    8 tbsp corn flour
    4 tbsp peanut butter
    Per tube:
    1320 calories
    172g carbs (70 simple, 102 complex)
    24g protein
    38g fat (That’s a high proportion of fat, but what the heck..
