RECCE RIFLE, BUILD, SPECS,

Project: Building a Versatile RECCE Rifle

Some AR building activity is about to go down at “Headquarters 1776”.

The Recce Rifle(sounds like Becky)is generally defined as a lightweight, accurate, highly versatile weapon meant for close to medium ranges. Frequently mentioned as a firearm used during recon operations, the precise build specifications vary depending on your needs. A constant is the use of a magnified optic thus the term “Sniper M4” is sometimes used.

Here are the criteria for the 1776 Recce Rifle:

  • 16″ barrel
  • 1-6X or 1-8X scope with a true 1X for close range
  • Free float hand guard
  • Rise-reducing muzzle brake
  • Improved/Accurized Trigger
  • M4 bolt
  • Mounted flashlight
  • Sling
  • Kick’s Ass

I’ve never been a fan of over-accessorized AR’s. Loading a weapon down with every conceivable option increases weight. Weight reduces speed. Not good. This Recce rifle will be well below 10-pounds and capable of quick shots at 20 yards, then accurately engaging targets at 200 – over and over again. No problem.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll post updates as parts are selected, ordered, and the build comes together.
