Prices Keep Going Up…..

Shocking? No, not really. I just saw a double pack of Coleman 16 oz propane cylinders which several years ago sold for $5.79 at Wallyworld and most recently was just under $7 – priced at $9.88. Nuts.

I recently had to reorder some supplies for the Tier 1 Minuteman IFAK and yup, prices have jumped. I have to adjust the price north of $40 and figured I’d throw it out there for the next couple of weeks I’ll keep the price at $36.99 here(I sell it elsewhere as well). I’ve got to look at everything and make sure I adjust prices based on these recent increases. I’ve always shipped free – and as of April 1st shipping has increased. No matter what I continue to work to keep prices as low as possible and the value high.

Several “survival tins” have been added to the store. I love the concept. Right now these small, compact tins consist of Fire Starting Kits, Waterproof Matches, Eyeglass Repair & Care, Emergency First Aid, Prepper’s Pharmacy, Emergency Coffee Survival Kit – and more coming. Many of these I’ve set up with an optional 2 pack for a much better price due to combined shipping. The idea behind these little kits is that they are very small and portable and contain items many fail to have around when they need them. The “Prepper’s Mini-Pharmacy” is the size of an Altoids tin and contains aspirin, ibuprofen, anti-diarrheal, antihistamine(Benadryl), antacid, and cold medicine. It will be added to the store shortly.

We are all in this together. What is “this”? Well, that’s a good question.

Take care all.

During the 1950s, civil defense was a major concern of the United States government. In response, the government launched a nationwide civil defense program that included the building of nuclear fallout shelters, the stockpiling of food and medical supplies, the creation of evacuation plans, and the creation of a nationwide alert system. The federal government also worked to educate the public on how to react to a nuclear attack, including the basics of sheltering in place and responding to radiation.

Citizens across the nation under the threat of nuclear war had one thing on their mind......

Be ready.

This manual was developed by the Office of Civil Defense within the Department of Defense. According to the note inside the manual written by Robert S. McNamara, Secretary of Defense, the goal of the publication is to provide the American people with the facts they need to know about the dangers of a thermonuclear attack and what they can do to protect themselves. He goes on to say that "the factual information in this booklet has been verified by independent scientific authority."

The threat of nuclear conflict is ever present in these modern times. Since the 60's many more countries have developed nuclear weapons including North Korea, Pakistan, India - and likely Iran. While this guide was originally published over 6 decades ago - it remains valid and important today.

Whether you are a historian, a history buff, or simply interested in preparedness this guide is a great read and full of beneficial information.

I have had to stay home and quadruple up on errands when I must go out. My family and I are already sacrificing . I am deeply concerned about those with young children. WE no longer eat out at all.
Some prices are jumping by 4 dollars an item. People are getting very angry and depressed in stores. Just as with covid we are all going to have to reinvent our ways of living to cut back and make do with what we have.
WE are getting some snow tonight but then hopefully spring will be here . Arlene
The grocery store is out of saltine crackers .Barley is $4.89 for a 1 lb 14 oz package.

Arlene, I see the same thing happening. I haven’t bought seed for the garden yet, but last year at the local feed and seed, they were having a heck of a time getting stocked. Personally, I think we are in for a bit of a rough road ahead. For the last two years, deer have decimated my garden. I’m installing a new 10 ft high fence around my 1/4 acre garden. Any deer getting in now will go to the freezer. Of course all of the above points to my thoughts about where we are heading. I think our food supply will be in danger. I fell the democrats will use any excuse, or manufacture any crisis to gain more control of this county. Pandemic, exploding inflation, shrinking products at the grocery store, gasoline priced out of the reach of most people. Just think about it.
