NOTE: Well folks I just realized this never posted Sunday – so here it is on Tuesday.
Nothing.
Nada. Zilch.
Really did not get anything done preparedness-wise this past week. Hey – it happens. Goals are still there and will pick up where I left off this week and drive forward.
NOTE: Hillary’s case is being reopened by the FBI. Could it turn the tide for the election? Maybe. I am hopeful but realistic. The sheeple following her ignore so much already I suspect this will not make much difference. Let’s hope!!
OK people – how about you?
What prepping have you done over the last week?
Rourke
Interesting you mentioned buying 100 lbs of rice in your earlier post. I actually did go to Costco and picked up a 25 lb bag. Also extra TP, paper towels, a big jar of chicken boullion for seasoning rice and other bland items, extra canned veggies and jars of spaghetti sauce. Ordered and received a 1000 round case of .223 from Sportsman’s Guide. They had it on sale and I get their items with no sales tax. Plus I found a coupon and got free shipping. They were the Wolf brand but were brass cased and reloadable. So for $300 I thought that was a pretty good deal. Am thinking about getting a new Kawasaki Mule but want to find out how many of the critical parts contain electronic chips. Will probably buy spares if it’s not totally cost prohibitive and put into a Faraday cage. At almost 66 I just don’t walk as well as I once did! Don’t forget to vote!!!!
Speaking of a Kawasaki Mule, our neighbor hit one with his Jeep Wrangler. Actually the Mule hit the Jeep. Anyways, Jeep was totalled. The Mule? Well the old man who was driving it and hit my neighbor had to give it up to keep the police out of it. Now my neighbor has a fully functioning Mule as well as a new SUV. I guess you can say those Mules are pretty tough ATVs.
Ditto JR, did almost nothing except working on getting things ready before winter hits here in the north. I’m kind of burned out on everything – elections, prepping, group networking – just everything. Can’t wait for winter to get here.
Ditto JR, only things I’ve done this last week were get things ready for the winter to hit up here even though it looks like the 70’s this week. I’m just burned out on everything, can’t wait for winter to hit so I can do some winter camping.
Inventoried food stock. Continued to clear the garden of the summer plants. As I clear a row, I roll up the trickle irrigation hoses and store them for the winter. Cleaned the chicken house and thanked the girls for the poop gold that I spread on the garden. I till that in every time.
we got Ham now.. and now I need to figure the how to work it and understand part..
we have 4 clubs local so looking for classes now
added a few other things and some food as well as gr8 big mylar bags…
time to start putting up stuff..
So for anyone .. and maybe it fits better in Q&A
I can make big bgas of one thing in a bucket .. but I want to do some all in one buckets as well ..
What do you guys put in your all in one buckets ? and what sizes or counts.
Thanks
GG58
We use 5 gal buckets for most things some with gamma seal lids others with standard lids (these are intended for long term stores, Bulk pack items are in mylar, others are cluster or nested packed meaning in these buckets items are packaged into meal size increments, ex: items in 1Lb increments like (sugar, corn meal, flour, Bannock bread dry ingredients, beans (rice is in 3 & 4 cup increments) we also right the date and price per pound at time of packaging, it’s quite a moral booster when you break into a pack and look at the price and realize the $$ you saved. Each bucket is labeled with content and packed date.
Bulk pack example:
MED – GRAIN WHITE RICE (BULK)
Date: 16 – 11 – 01
30 – Lbs
Cluster pack example:
WHT – SUGAR
Date: 16 – 11 – 01
20 – Lbs (1 Lb ea. Pkg)
When I end up with multiple buckets of the same thing I right with a sharpie underneath Bucket #1 of #2 etc.
items needed temp control are in the house, everything else is in the shed and gerage
Another busy week at work, but more people are opening their eyes to what’s happening in the country AND talking about it. Kind of comforting to think it may be sinking in. Picked some more rice, .45, 9mm, 20ga. 00, and 9 more magazines for pistols. Recycled some more old gas. DW is so onboard, must be paying too much attention to the news.
My main prep progress this past week has been to buy all the parts I needed to complete a second AR-15 build. I already had the stripped lower, but had to buy the complete upper plus all the other lower receiver parts. Between Joe Bob’s, Palmetto State Armory, CDNN, and a big gun show I got everything I needed. Not as cost effective as buying a complete gun off-the-shelf perhaps, but it will refresh my memory on how to put one together plus get us another long gun for my wife or kids to use if SHTF. Father-in-Law and Brother-in-Law also got AR’s within the last 2-3 weeks in anticipation of a Hitlery win. I’m optimistic though that we will pull off a win and defeat the Clinton mafia next Tuesday. Everyone pray that the Christian voters go to the polls and vote Trump.
Added beans, rice, toilet paper, paper towels, some socks, t shirts and underwear. Went to the gun range and sharpened the knives. Grandson and I went fishing and set out fish traps. Caught some nice ones. Didn’t make it to the larder – we ate the whole thing!!! That is all. – Keep Looking UP
Yes we have been praying that Trump will win and justice will prevail !!
This week I took advantage of the sales-stocked up on tuna, frozen turkeys
and soups.
Sometimes I make a bucket with products for a fulls day worth of meals and label and date it.
Had a real hard, white freeze here -time to plant some garlic for spring.
