Another great reason to have common food items stored for emergencies. Hope more folks are able to Can and Preserve their meats. Luckily we have a couple of ranchers up the road from us who periodically have a butcher come and slaughter/cut up the product for freezer storage. Minimal waste and we know where the meat came from!
paying a ransom is always a bad idea, like the Colonial pipeline, now they can do whatever they want. This is just a prelude to what is really coming..prepare….. that’s all we can do. And if they bring it to your doorstep…fight!!!
My family has been thinking of going meatless for a couple of months. Guess this will be a good time to kick off the “new meatless” family. Also, if we want meat, I’ll sit on my front porch and “harvest” a couple of deer. I just finished tilling under a portion of the garden that had nothing but stubs of beans left. The deer really appreciated the red pepper/garlic I sprinkled. Didn’t bother them at all. We tried the Irish Spring on the fencing as well as a repellent guaranteed to work. I saw the deer standing next to the dispenser mid-day last week. I had already planned on filling the freezer this year with venison.
Thanks Rourke- had not heard a word about this and I had no idea that Brazil
was involved in our US Meat production. I know some beef comes from BRazil which is ridiculous when we have so many US beef producers.
It is always a plus to do business with a local farmer when possible- for that farmer and for yourself. We use solar detectors to keep wild life out of our garden and they work well. They flash and beep in an animals comes near.
Between the weather issues and the cyber crap and inflation our food chain is
definitely unstable.
For long term storage dehydrated and freeze dried is a meat option .I have not bought any in years so it must be quite expensive now.I used to use Emergency Preparedness. Arlene
