From the Desk of John Rourke – April 2nd, 2024

Hope everyone had a great Easter. I’ve been traveling down to the South Carolina/Georgia/North Carolina area to see my kids, brother, and a high school buddy. During my travels, I went to church on Sunday. A fantastic experience with a message that really hit home.

My youngest bought an enduro bike. This bike can be used on the street as well as off-road.  It’s been 25 or so years since I’ve been on a motorcycle and had a ball riding through the woods. While I’d love to have something like this back up in Maine, we really need an ATV or a UTV as a property workhorse.

Hoping to find a used 4-wheeler in good operating condition for a decent price in a couple months.

In case you missed it……

Does anyone have any experience with the PSA Dagger? At the prices which one can purchase a complete gun or put together via buying parts, they are extremely affordable.

I’m finding in this insane time we live in with all that is going on and the constant state of events occurring which seemingly present a new disaster daily – people are becoming complacent. I think back just 10 years ago if a time traveler had professed the last few years along with the indicators of what is to come most people would be overwhelmed. Preppers would use this information as a huge motivator to step up their preps. Today? Well – just another day in this modern world for a lot of folks.

What a mistake I fear people are making.

We are now up to 9 galvanized raised beds and bought a chicken coop along with a good-sized “caged run” to put the chicken coop in. We will get the chickens hopefully within a month. I’ll post pics and an update as progress occurs.

Stay safe all and please…..keep preparing.

Rourke

It just keeps getting worse with stumbles and mumbles in the Whitehouse , I feel they have something planned where they are being so open with carrying out their agenda

Glad you had aa good Easter JR! I’m a bike guy and have two “enduro” type bikes. One is the Yamaha WR250R which is fuel injected. The other is the Suzuki DR650 which I really love. It’s stone axe. It’s the only one of my four bikes that I have running after being submerged for days in saltwater after Hurricane Ian. The DR650 would be a good choice for your area because it is very much like tractor depending on what countershaft and primary sprockets you put on it. They have been made almost unchanged forever and are still in production so factory parts and aftermarket support is huge.

anything by Honda is as bullet proof as you can get as far as equipment goes but first i would invest in a small 4wd tractor with a front end loader first. they can do and go anywhere an ATV will go and will save tons of work around the place for the same price. you can thank me later.
here in the deep south on the gulf, the few times i go to town i am so proud to see most people stocking their carts with non perishables, canned goods, seeds, water and all of the goodies that go along with it. i feel better about things here when i see that. it has always been somewhat of a cultural thing here anyhow with the occasional hurricane threats. everyone plants veggies here, even if it’s just a few tomatoes in the backyard, you know, braggin’ rights.
take care and i hope the tests come out good.

Thanks Scout. Maine Prepper Girl and I have looked into a 4wd tractor as you described. It’s not in the finances right now…but who knows, maybe. I need to take another look as tht would really be a huge help.
