SITE UPDATE: I’m working on a schedule of what will be posted when. The goal is to be more consistent with content. An example would be posting a review every Wednesday. For those who like that it would be something to look forward to. Maybe have a “Firearms Friday” and always post something related to firearms on Fridays.

PlayOn Cloud Service: I mentioned this past Saturday I have started using the PlayOn Cloud service as part of my entertainment efforts without cable or satellite. It is working extremely well. It may seem a little weird but I have a digital entertainment library as part of my long term preps. An entire library of movies, TV shows, and music to be viewable on tablets and TV’s.

There’s a lot of talk of Trump not making it through his first term. Take the meaning behind that as you wish. Between the Democrats screaming impeachment and the RINO’s against him – anything is possible. Talk of the Deep State planning a coup is ever president. Likely just talk.

The garden is almost done. The 2nd planting for the summer is producing but plants are frail and not looking good. I’m going to pull up the weaker ones and start getting ready for the Fall garden.

I really like the looks of this setup.

Hmmm… very good post and thought provoking. Is this the professional threshold for this site? I enjoy the blog fellowship, the maturity of those that post here, and the thought process shared. For some reason, imo today’s post seemed to jump over to some kind of professional level.

I really like that “stovie” thing? What is it and how do I get one built? GoingGray58’s comment really made me interested. It seems feasible without high cost.

Capt .. The stove is a version of “rocket stove”. For heating you can google “how to build a rocket stove for heating” or “rocket stove mass heater”. The second is more descriptive of what happens. rocket stoves are extremely efficient, and leave almost no un-burned material, and generate little smoke if done well. Imagine a stove in the corner or basement with flat surface for cooking, and the flu traveling out of the stove into a “mass” (can be sand, clay, pea gravel or anything that won’t burn that stores heat, even a water tank I guess.. then you could use warm water if it worked). The mass radiates what heat it absorbs. Ideally the exhaust that leaves to the outside has lost all it’s heat and therefore makes no condensation trail outward. I even saw one where the built and tiled a bunk over the mass that heated the couch or bed.
There is a more complicated version that burns the exhaust gasses as well. The simple rocket stoves let that get away. I understand that those can be used to power a generator from anywhere from a couple KW to 20KW (which is big enough for a compound). Give a thought to maintenance. Seal it all up pretty and efficient and you have to tear them up to get back in to do stuff if needed. Google it and see what you get .. there are many for sale .. but why not learn to build them ?

GG58 … Your thoughts are are helping me ‘flesh-out’ a solution for my Phoenix home in the event of a power down situation in cold weather. You’all know it can get real cold in the desert. I’d like to have a super simple backup to my standalone ( no public service tie-in ) solar effort.

Well Capt. Michael’s not sure what you were reading as I just shared my usual random thoughts though. Hey – appreciate the compliment. I think it was a compliment. Lol.

JR … Nothing weird about your digital library. Very smart idea so keep it up. Ask anyone who has been deployed deep remote.
