Ammunition Supply Getting Better/Options

I’ve managed to grab some .22LR, .308, and .243 Win over the past two weeks walking into Walmart. Local gunshops have most common caliber, but, are still asking ridiculous prices. I get the increased prices when the supply level was much lower. When they have CASES and CASES stacked in full view with no limits but still asking $29.99 a box for 9mm? Nope. Not gonna do it.

I want to support my local shops but not when they are screwing their local customers. Every penny counts especially nowadays.

Here are a couple links to grab ammunition online.

Blazer Brass 9mm 115-gr 50-rd/box $20.99

Sterling 12-ga 00-Buck 10-rd/box  $5.89

Brass-cased 7.62 x 39mm – 480 round Case – $249.99

Flat $12.95 shipping on all products above.

Tula .223 Remington 20-rd Box / $9.99

That’s it. Everything else for the most part I’m too embarrassed to share.

Finding it cheaper locally? Excellent! Options are good.

What does the ammo supply look like in your area?

John, I have been buying online when I find a deal and have the funds. Friends tell me AAcademy has lots of empty shelves and a local sporting goods store is always high, so I only buy there when I have to.

JohnP – The few Academy’s I’ve been to in South Carolina have a small selection – mostly .223 ad a bit of 9mm. Expensive. Visited a Cabela’s in Augusta, GA about a week ago and prices were much better on .223/5.56 – – but no 9mm.

Most of the ammo I’ve bought in the last year was online.

PNW area, now seeing supplies of common calibers again, reloading supplies i.e. powder, bullets, cases available, not so much primers. Prices not quite as high a before the sky high $. Usually some limits on ammo, either 100 rounds or 1 box of 500 or 1000 per day, per person (bring your significant other!). Interestingly they had boxes of 200 rounds .22lr with no limits for purchase. One caveat, despite the high cost, look at the South Africa situation. Ammo there is well over $1.00++ per round and they will buy it because things are crazy (the police ran out of ammo and were begging for more from private groups and folks), so keep that thought in mind if you are concerned about money. The whole availability thing could blow up in a heartbeat and then your’e behind the 8 ball again and maybe even more so. Just my thoughts on the matter. Also, consider picking up the 2 volume set by Jack Lawson, “Civil Defense Manual”, covers a multitude of topics essential for those preparing. Expensive, ~$100 for the two, but definitely worth every penny. Biggest takeaway you learn from that book is a neighborhood is defendable, not so much an isolated home, so networking is essential. That was a clear message I saw when researching the South African situation. Resistance with armed numbers count. Reports of buses transporting 100-500 rioters/thugs to isolated towns for invasion and mayhem. Can only be countered by radio communications, cell phone towers being destroyed everywhere and/or jammed to prevent intended victims from reaching out for assistance and establishing coordinated lethal effort before they get to their target area. Much to learn from this conflict. Evil is rising up everywhere. Take care.
