From the Desk of John Rourke – November 7th, 2016

Pretty much the only thing on my mind is the election. Just cannot comprehend how so many people could be fooled or are so ignorant to such a large extent that we are seriously looking at “President Hillary Clinton”. I shouldn’t be shocked after all Obama was elected twice.

Back in November of 2012 I predicted this country would never see another Republican President. Hope I was wrong.

So – I finally got around to shooting my Hi Point 9mm Carbine. I hate it. Hey – lots of other people like it and that’s why so many options are available. Guess if you’re used to driving a Cadillac and then have to drive a Pinto you may get there but it will suck along the way.

I’m not giving up. Going to place the gun in a new chassis – the ATI Hi Point stock. I’ll add a red dot as well and go from there.

So – Obama is now promoting illegals to vote in the election. Nothing shocks me anymore.

Looking at how my supplies are stored. Currently I use many 18 gallon plastic totes. Not the most durable containers in the world but they are cheap and work. After a couple of years they tend to get brittle and need replacing. Thinking about investing in gamma lids and start switching to Home Depot buckets for various supplies.
Curious what everyone else uses to store their supplies.

5 gallon buckets with O ring lids. Stacks 4 high no problem. Keeps ’em ready for planting if needed. Have a dozen or so gamma lids for when a bucket is opened for consumption.

45 gallon used pickle barrels. Thick polymer, screw on lid with good seals–holds LOTS.

Nested ammo cans w/ 100 mph tape for selected electronics.

Yesterday, I saw an article on Fox news where the Department of No Justice instructed to reinstate “thousands of names” that North Carolina had purged from the voters roles. I also received and e-mail showing what had been purged. Voters who were over 100 years old made up the list. Some were 110 yrs old and one was 160 yrs old. I never realized living in North Carolina was so healthy. Meanwhile, this morning it’s reported that illegals are being encouraged to vote in Nevada. To me, this invalidates ALL votes from Nevada and any vote from the 100 yr olds in North Carolina should be stricken from the count. This is clearly another of the many attempts by the Democrats to steal the election. Susan Sarandon said it best…believe it or not…”the entire DNC is corrupt…”. She is voting for Jill Stein and feels that all Bernie supports should do the same.

I received this yesterday. I believe it is attributed to Franklin Graham…

Subject: Time is like a river
Time is like a river.  You cannot touch the water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again.  Franklin Graham, the son of Rev Billy Graham, was speaking at the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida, when he said America will not come back.  He wrote:
“The American dream ended on November 6th, 2012 in Ohio.  The second term of Barack Obama has been the final nail in the coffin for the legacy of the white Christian males who discovered, explored, pioneered, settled and developed the greatest republic in the history of mankind.
A coalition of blacks, Latinos, feminists, gays, government workers, union members, environmental extremists, the media, Hollywood, uninformed young people, the “forever needy,” the chronically unemployed, illegal aliens and other “fellow travelers” have ended Norman Rockwell’s America.
You will never again out-vote these people.  It will take individual acts of defiance and massive displays of civil disobedience to get back the rights we have allowed them to take away.  It will take zealots, not moderates and shy, not reach-across-the-aisle RINO’s (“RINO’s” is an acronym for “Republicans in Name Only”) to right this ship and restore our beloved country to its former status.
People like me are completely politically irrelevant, and I will probably never again be able to legally comment on or concern myself with the aforementioned coalition which has surrendered our culture, our heritage and our traditions without a shot being fired.
The cocker spaniel is off the front porch, the pit bull is in the back yard.  The American Constitution has been replaced with Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” and the likes of Chicago shyster David Axelrod along with international socialist George Soros have been pulling the strings on their beige puppet and have brought us Act 2 of the New World Order.
The curtain will come down but the damage has been done, the story has been told.
Those who come after us will once again have to risk their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to bring back the Republic that this generation has timidly frittered away due to white guilt and political correctness.”

      IN GOD WE TRUST
“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to
restrain the people; it is an instrument for the
people to restrain the government-lest it come to
      dominate our lives and interests”
      Patrick Henry

As I read on a prepper site comments section: the second American civil war has already begun… the bullets just haven’t started flying YET.

Kind of depends on what the items are, we generally do food in 5gal buckets with mylar, but also do some of the smaller mylar bags and put into the home depot HDX 17 and 27gal totes to stack. Ammo goes into the metal ammo cans, been having problems with any of the plastic ammo ‘cans’ out there. The #10 cans just go on a shelf and misc gear goes into the thicker rubbermaid totes. I did get a hold of four 30gal open top drums that some spare clothing and gear will be going into.

rcho – this nation is so divided and on a cusp of economic decline I don’t know how either crap sandwich candidate will be able to turn it around.

Oren- depressing but very realistic. I like the quote from Patrick Henry.I wonder how many Americans and youth even know who this great patriot was.
Rourke- after many years of storage we have found that yes the tubs get worn but they are excellent-especially for non- perishable items or those in cans and jars. I also use new/clean metal garbage cans that are lined with a plastic bag and then
put in other bags or boxes.Good for keeping dampness out- such as for tea bags, dry goods, tp etc.
We also use Emer Ess. buckets and gamma lids for packages of salt etc.I keep these in a very dry space.Other buckets are used for batteries etc. I think it depends on each person geography and circumstances.
I am very ill- with bronchitis-needed to go to an Urgent Care center as our Dr was swamped-picked this up from our Grand child- ugh. However if I must crawl into the voting booth tomorrow I will . Trump must prevail. God bless you all and God help America. Lightning

Lightning, I read a lot. I mean a lot. I subscribe to Amazon Prime and also Kindle Unlimited. I can read an unlimited amount of books on the Kindle Unlimited book list. I particularly prefer books on WW2, especially the Pacific theater. I recently read a book, I think it was about Desmond Doss on Guadalcanal. A foreword to the book stated that remembering the heroes of WW2 was for the men that fought side by side. Remembering the places was a duty of those who were there. The next generation would remember stories of WW2 and some of the great battles and names of far off exotic destinations. However, the grandchildren of the “greatest generation” would have a fleeting understanding and the great grandchildren would not be able to tell you any of the events of WW2. Names such as Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, New Britain, Peleliu, Buna-Gona, Saipan, the Gilberts and others will be meaningless to the following generations. They will never understand the tremendous sacrifice made by our Fathers generation. I tried to talk to my 97 year old mom about the stories and some of WW2. She could not talk. She started crying about “what the Japs did to our boys”. Her memories are still fresh. I still study WW2 and served in country in Vietnam. Today, I see college kids who are abysmally ignorant of the legacy of our country and sacrifices she has made to assure them of their privilege to live and enjoy life in this country. It greatly saddens me that this part of our history is now glossed over and I think that we are a lesser nation for it.

Can’t really focus on much but the election – hoping for the best prepping for the worst. Using Home Depot buckets with gamma lids for my preps. Obama, leaves such a vile taste in my mouth, after all he has done to wreck our nation! Ran on change and all he has done is changed his mind. Hell is hot and judgement day will come!!!!!

  6. RocketCityPrepper says:

Look for somewhere that you can buy re-cycled 10, 15, 18, or 20 gallon plastic barrels with lock lids and handles. I think we’re going to pick up a few this weekend to make some caches. They should also be good to store all kinds of dry goods in.

  7. Doomsday says:

Here I go to the Pepsi plant and get the 55 gallon Foodgrade barrels for around 30 bucks a peace, that’s what they pay for core deposit, there are also lots of places on Creig list that sell them, I buy the 55 gallon steal drums on sportsmen guide for ammo, and other gear, then food grade 5 gallon buckets for freeze dried, beans, and rice. Rubber oring lids.
