For those who may have missed it, I’m reposting this today. It was originally published several months ago……

With every day passing by bringing us closer to the next major solar flare event and satellites passing over us every day that may contain EMP-capable nuclear weapons – preparing for EMP has been a major topic for the last decade or so.

    Thinking of an EMP against us I was thinking the other day about my gun safe. If an EMP was deployed, could I get into my safe or would the batteries that are part of the digital lock be no good and wouldn’t let me in. I guess I could place batteries in a Faraday that would keep them from damage but even then could I open my safe.

    Just a thought, what do you all think?

    BTW, my safe is unlocked for now but it is not easy to get to.

    Fred-very interesting point-thanks for sharing. Might be good for us each to have a few well hidden places to store our valuables.May e the good old fashioned lock and key would be better. Arlene

    Batteries would not be affected by an EMP. Just make sure you have a crowbar, because every gun safe made can be defeated with a crowbar and time.
