Was buying a bunch of magazines prior to the election bad?

The sales of guns, ammo, and magazines was massive prior to the election. Most of us thought Killary was going to contaminate the Oval Office for sure and along with that the risk of significant gun control measures was high. Hey – I’m not disappointed! Gun control seems to be way down the list of things to be concerned about. With that said – a question:

Was buying a bunch of magazines prior to the election bad?

Absolutely not. It’s risk versus reward. No one knows the future and what the anti-gun crowd will be able to accomplish. What I do know is we have a reprieve. Take advantage.

The future remains uncertain in so many ways.

You are correct. Buying stuff that is or will be under the gun (no pun) is not a bad idea. The libs are not thru and never will be. Buy what you can. Your grand kids will thank you.

Wrong… no… At worst it’s an investment you can turn back into cash if needed.. right! Politics and politicians pandor to the mob when election results come calling…. Putting it back for sale or barter is never a bad idea. TRUST is a perishable commodity in modern times.

All based on budget PB – the 3 Advanced is another $300 or so. Don’t disagree with you on which is better however it would be better to have the one you can afford than not have one at all. I love the Phantom 4 but it is way out of my budget.

Fair enough but that dramatically increased range is sure useful…

Soooo, the Army just selected their replacement for the Beretta M9–the Sig Sauer P320.

Maybe time to check one out.

Oh I agree PB – I just got back from Best Buy with a friend and we were looking at the Phantom 3 Advanced and Pro. Double the range would be nice. Looked at some other brands as well.

I’ve never been a fan of Sig but that is entirely based on owning a 2022 – which I hated. Sold it after one shooting session. I feel the same need to check out the Sig P320. Going to the gun shop in the morning and see if they have one to look at.

Yup. I know two things about Army selection priorities–what will fit many and what uses the ammo we have.
With that said, their rigorous testing cycle is worth noting–nothing gets approved without getting the snot kicked out of it.
            I’ll take a look too.

DH and gg58 are spot on! We have 2018 and 2020 ahead of us. Those 2/4 years will go quickly. My stocking purchases included Magpul 10 rounders as well. Never felt better about a longer term investment !

I suspect the next congress election cycle the Dems to take control, just basing it upon history, see what they do then so we have at least 2 years to put away what we need or upgrade current items to as modern as possible. Buying a handgun and rifle magazine per month and 100rds of ammo a month will put you way ahead of the game in case of another storage or change in government policy. I didn’t buy a lot, just a couple cases of 223 and 9mm and a handful of AR and handgun mags. I mainly bought some spare parts for the firearms including cleaning gear and a couple of better quality holsters. I’d really like to add a few revolvers to the arms locker this year.

Not to worried about the mid-term. Half of the Dems in the Senate are up for re-election in 2018. Also with the re-drawing of congressional district in republican held state house, the Dems have an up hill battle for them in the House.

      1. JR says:

Agree 3rdMan. If this Congress and Administration can move things in the right direction Liberals will lack the ammunition needed to win seats.

My son-in-law has a Sig 2022, and I agree with you JR, don’t really care for it. I’ve got a Sig 226, and a couple of their 1911’s, and I love em, especially the 1911’s, but I’m kind of a 1911 nut!
