Many may not be aware that effective September 20th, 2019 it will be illegal to import or sell the Baofeng UV-5R and similar radio’s. Why? You can head over to ARRL.org and read the specifics.
What this means is the availability of these inexpensive, versatile and varying quality communication devices may decrease and become difficult to find. While it is widely reported that these radios will suddenly be gone and off the market, I have my doubts. Should supplies decline prices will go up. If you were interested in one of these radios – or twelve – the time to purchase is now.
Why is this important?
As a communication and information gathering tool, these radio’s are high value. They can receive and transmit(with appropriate license) on a variety of frequencies.
Right now prices are less than $30 per radio. It is my recommendation to stock up on a few of these before prices climb and supplies dry up.
Visit this link for the best prices on Baofeng radios.

So they violated FCC rules. Ouch.
Apparently, however, there must be a reason action is being taken now and not years ago.
Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered two of these units with a bundle pack for accessories. Not a bad deal if they are decent radios. Both for $75.00.
Amazon has a fantastic sale on the high power commercial Baofeng. See:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E4KLY34/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Two radios and accessories for $25. I ordered several. Again, please get your Technician amateur radio license before use.

I think you need to order the two pack to get the two radios and the price would be 50.00.
2 for $25. Check it out. PR
The 1 pack is $25.62 and the 2 pack is $50.65.
Yup – the sales page is rather misleading.
I was mislead big time. I ordered 2 sets, thinking I was getting 4 radios. So, when only 2 radios were delivered, I went to Amazon support and entered a chat session. Amazon’s chat person investigated, then said he was giving me a refund (an Amazon gift card). I did not figure out what went wrong till a couple days later. I have chat session saved, if anyone would like to read it.
Great little radio JR, i plan on adding another couple to the supplies while they are still available.
Panhandle Rancher, its great to see you here again. Hope all has been well .

I’m glad to see this group reconstituted, after the disgusting handling of the original MSO site, by the new owners. I have been subjected to censorship and content loss due to greed and liberal ignorance. I have moved on to an irreverent, uncensored, social media site where I have a collection of old and new articles. I also have a mixed subject YouTube channel with monthly live streams and demo videos on prepper gear. I’ll have to think about coming out of the anonymous closet on here.
Regards, D.
I think a good area we should address is alternatives to Fakebook. I have heard of one called “Parler” but haven’t looked into it yet. I have heard that there are others as well that still value freedom of speech.
I use mewe, essentially the anti- Facebook.
I’m on MeWe as well and it seems like a decent platform. Within the groups, there is a lacking f security to stop “bots” from posting but it’s not too bad. Unfortunately, it is going to take something dramatic to make MeWe or any other free speech social media platform to compete with Facebook.
If Trump created a MeWe account that would be a gamechanger.
Capt –
Parler looks very interesting. I’m going to sign up for an account and check it out. Thanks for the heads up.
I’m looking forward to your impressions of it. I haven’t made any moves yet but hoping to find a platform that is good enough to move the masses away from Fakebook.
Good to hear from you D. Shoot me an email and let me know what you’ve been up to.

Thanks for the tip! Oh, and I just received the new radios that I ordered yesterday! Mind blowing speed in shipping! Got ’em charging now.
No problem CaptTurbo!
Looks like a redesign is going to be in place.
“company instructed the manufacturer to fix the problem and later confirmed with the manufacturer that all Amcrest inventory on order and in the future would only operate only on 145-155MHz and 400-520 MHz.”
I think they already have the new ones on the market. I think they are designated with a ‘plus’ (+) after the model numbers.
