NOTE: This was originally posted last year and thought it was worth it to revisit.
Every Fall around Thanksgiving there are certain items that go on sale. This is a perfect time to stock up on a lot of baking and food items.
Here are some examples:
– frozen turkey’s
– flour
– stuffing
– canned vegetables especially corn, pumpkin, green beans, etc.
– creamed soups
– canned fruit
– sugar
– canned chicken/turkey broth
If you have a deep freeze throw a few turkeys in there. Many grocery stores will have HUGE discounts on items from the list above. Additional discounts can be had using coupons from the Sunday paper.
This time of year is perfect for adding to the food storage program.
Hungry yet?

Of course we all have Extra … unless you are pretty new to the gig.. I have seen a couple articles recently where China told it’s people to Hoard in preparation for weather and expected supply shortages. I also saw where Fuel is being rationed to a fixed number of gallons in multiple places because supplies are not arriving as quickly as it runs out.. as well as some Stops being OUT of fuel. So now it is not just cost has doubled, but availability. That means you can count on price gouging as well .. The shortages seem to be running West toward the Eastern US. Take advantage of any holiday deals… I suspect it will get worse before it gets better.
Stay safe out there guys and gals..

Just put two birds in the freezer yesterday for .87 per pound. I was surprised to see them at such a far price after reading that there would be a shortage of turkeys this year do to Brandon’s maleficence.
John, I keep checking my stock and filling in the blanks when I find good deals. Bought a U T V with a 24 hp engine which seems to get good milage, will they let me use it on the roads if things get bad, we will see if that does happen.
Which UTV and why ?
I have been working in my kitchen today taking stock of what I have in my pantry.
I have been reading about the supply chain so I have started buying extras like coffee and paper products. Some items in stores in the area have put a limit on certain products.
I usually enjoy fresh produce but have been buying some canned fruit. Also bought a bag of powdered milk and some bread mixes. Have already paid over $3.00 for a gallon of gas. Have been watching the TV show “Building Off the Grid” and it is fascinating. It’s amazing at how ingenious some people can be.
