Survival, Preparedness, and Life

Over the last…{enter whatever time period you’d like} I’ve contemplated many life-changing events. In the last few years, I’ve gone from the Charlotte, NC area to Georgia, then back to SC not too far from Myrtle Beach, and now I’m in Kentucky. 5 years ago if you’d said that this is what I would have done I would have laughed. Well – welcome to reality and what is known as the truth.

As I type this I’m sitting in a 30+ foot camper in northern Kentucky and we actually had our first snowfall today – November 12th. I love the snow and it was exciting. Back in SC and GA snow was a rare event. Living just off the river provides high winds and absolutely beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I should post some pics below.

At 52 years old I have some decisions to make as Maine Prepper Girl wants us to head to Maine as soon as possible. We have what I believe to be severe economic conditions just around the corner so the job market might not be the best. Maine Prepper Girl is a nurse – so getting a job is really not an issue. While I have expertise in manufacturing leadership and management – I’m not a nurse and the need is not the same.

I suspect I’ll be in Kentucky for the next few months……at least.

Looking into the future things look pretty bleak. For those that pay any attention inflation is going to stick around for…..months? years? Government continues to warmonger and hold policies that would make the Founding Fathers perform summersaults in their graves. Societal decay is rampant as approx half the population believes in abortion up to 9 months and this transgender BS is natural and should be accepted. Traditional values and all that America was founded on are under attack and the results of the mid-terms are certainly not encouraging.

We have some hope in seeing Florida turn more RED and Texas standing its ground with Abbot winning the Governor race by a good margin. It’s EXTREMELY disappointing that Trump came out and attacked Desantis. A civil war within the GOP is exactly what the Left wants. So disappointing. I’ve been an avid supporter of Trump but this is ridiculous and a horrible turn of events.

Here’s what I know:

The best solution for all that is happening in the world is to move away from the cities, away from high-population areas, and get out in the country. Insulate yourself from people, society, government, and big corporations, and become as self-reliant as possible. Add to this is to spread the word that this is what people need to do.

The thought that one election – some specific political candidate is going to fix everything – is nothing more than “hope”.  I get it. I wish I could have hope. I really do. I’m also a realist that looks at facts and logic which has brought me to believe that there is no turning his sinking ship around. The best we can do is slow how fast the ship is sinking.

What do you think? Am I wrong? I sincerely hope so.

Take care all.

I have never seen our local thrift and discount stores as crowded as they were this afternoon. I was looking for cheap stocking stuffers, but the majority of people there were trying to find warm clothes, heavy blankets, and discounted canned foods. Few were buying frivolous items. I think that says a lot.

My own kids are feeling it, too. We normally do silly gifts and toys for Christmas, but they’ve all asked for practical items this year. They’re getting down comforters, longjohns, cases of food, and canning jars from me.

Thanks for sharing SingleMom. Valuable information and observations you made. No doubt Christmas is going to be different this year. Squeezing the life out of every penny will be important.

Rourke- I agree I am very disappointed in Trump for being negative toward DeSantis-who is doing an incredible job during the hurricanes etc.
If you and Maine Prepper girl are a team then I say go to Maine and make it work .You will find some kind of work eventually . If she is willing to do nursing then hopefully you can both get by .Get yourselves snugged in before winter hits.
I always have hope because change is inevitable and we must each be very
aware of the blessings of each day.I had two good days after chemo and then needed to sleep all day today -I do not swear much but cancer sucks and so does chemo. However every moment that is positive contributes to hope.
So cherish each moment and try to live forward -one day at a time.
    With hugs and prayers- Arlene

Thanks Arlene. MPG and I are definitely a Team. I am so sorry to hear of your illness. I hope things go well and you can get past it soon. Cancer does suck!

I agree about Trump, I am really disappointed in his speaking out against fellow GOP. He just can’t keep his mouth shut. I am definitely leaning toward DeSantis in 2024.
JR, hope you can make it work in Maine if that is what you and Prepper Girl want.
Arlene, I sincerely hope and pray for the best for you.

Trump has done many things positive. All of his speeches during his campaigns were instructional, informative, educating the populace about what was actually happening. He gave people hope against the onslaught of the techno/corportate/do gooder media and government. That was all the good. He failed to realize how entrenched the deep state and their minions were and it doesn’t work like being a CEO of a company. The deep state is a living organism and has its own agenda and they disregarded his directives. That was his failure, looking in hindsight. He tried.
My problem with Trump is the vax. It is deadly and responsible, informed physicians, researchers etc are now providing hard evidence despite the censorship, that the vax is a killer and maimer of a huge swath of humanity.
And he will not admit it nor say he was wrong. Yes, he had the best of intentions, listened to the people at high levels that were already part of the scheme, thinking he was following the correct course, but it was and is wrong. But the worst is that he does not admit it nor attempt to correct it in any way. It makes him now complicit in the death and destruction. I will not give him a pass on that. De Santis will be eaten alive by all the hidden interests and deep state just like Trump if he pursues the presidency. He can achieve so much more by remaining governor of Florida. A beginning of a new Confederacy against the centralized federal government. We as a nation are going to break apart. Nothing will change until our country is broken. I pray for the Phoenix to rise from the ashes. The destruction of our country is deliberate in every way. It is not happenstance nor incompetence, it is willful, planned and for the purpose of destabilizing the country. It is evil. We must harden our hearts, pray and prepare for what is unfolding. We are living on the cusp of a new and unknown reality.

I could not agree more Ralph. As stated I have been a huge supporter of Trump and was able to overlook his shortcomings. There are many that will not. Seems with each passing year voters focus on issues that are far less relevant than what they should be.

    SingleMom ,
i have seen the same thing in our area. people stocking up on warm clothes, blankets. buying things in bulk at the grocers and it’s not just Christmas or Thanksgiving, you don’t buy bulk dried beans, rice salt and sugar in 20 lb bags, cases of soup and bottled water for the holidays. no one is talking about it, everyone seems to stay to themselves when making purchases like that, but it is happening.
that’s a good thing and i for one am glad to see people are waking up to what is going on around us in this country and are becoming more aware of what may happen, and getting ready. me i have been there for a long time now.

RalphK, I have to agree, I believe if people don’t smarten up the red states have to form there own alliance and hell to the blue states, if we don’t the red states will not survive either. I feel sorry for those in blue states who don’t like what is happening. Those I am in contact with in those states know I invited them to my state of free people.

Great post and great replies all!
The life changing event for me arrived Sept 28th with six hours of 155 mph winds and then .. the storm surge. Charter boat torn apart in the yard on the trailer, cars destroyed, home flooded, which I’m coming to learn pretty much means destroyed. Life for me has changed for sure.

    Hey John,
I just wish Trump had done better, some of the things he said and did just didn’t sit too well with me, remember when he said “Take the guns, do due process later”? Yeah that was a cringe moment, then the bump stock ban really pushed it over the top.
Other than that I’m looking into doing more scrap collection, “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure” Looking for things to fortify the home, build projects, ect. Me and my old Ford F-100 are out looking.
