My turn…..

North Korea: Can’t help but have this on my mind a bit but I’m not overly concerned. Maybe that is a bad sign as there’s been numerous things I’ve been on “high alert” about and nothing transpired.

Weekend Plans: Kayaking Saturday and trip to shooting range on Sunday. Going to work on lightweight AR build some but short on parts.

The whole NORK situation has me thinking a lot about the ramifications of even a limited strike, bugging out/sheltering in place. The suburban neighborhood I reside in is only livable for short term duration. My previous BOL’s are non existent now, even with the uptick of possibilities the hosts just have lost the preparedness mentality/desire all together. If I were to show up to a couple of backup spots, I’d be supplying the majority if not ALL of the supplies for who knows how many people, one location is nearly 5hrs away using the interstate. Local network is DOA since the beginning of the year, some talk about reviving it but it’s just talk. Once again, we’re on our own. I don’t know if it’s a blessing or a curse at this point.

jh – I get what you’re saying. You can’t squeeze blood out of a rock. You have the play the cards dealt. Not sure of the area you’re in, property, etc. If bugging out is what you feel is needed get a couple target locations now. Scott Williams book on bugging out is excellent. If you’re bugging in – fortify the best you can and get it so folks have as little interest in you as possible.

I’m rambling a bit and you know this stuff already. Sounds like finding like-minded folks for you is a priority…and needs to be.

jh, I fully understand your dilemma. I live fortunately in an area that I can have a garden and chickens. That in itself can supply a lot for my family. I have never been one to join groups, associations or clubs. Just don’t like them. I’m 71 and have never been to a class reunion. As a result, all of my preps have been centered on my immediate family. But, even there, there are problems. My sister in law doesn’t want to talk about anything because it creates fear in her and she gets depressed. Her daughter, who I love as my own, has this idea that she will come to my house to live here. My sister in law’s son, is doing what he can with this attitude and is therefore not getting the support he needs. My daughter just rolls her eyes and pats me on the head. My son is trying for some self sufficiency in the chickens and goats, but he is 20 miles away. Meanwhile, my sister and mom live here with me and my wife. They are 75 and 98 respectively. Her son, 49, has cerebral palsey and has the mental development of a 10 year old on good days. Her other son lives about 90 miles away and most likely would end up here also. Thankfully, my sister is in a house on my property, so it won’t be like putting everyone in my home. If we have a SHTF event, my daughter, her three girls and her less than useful husband, will land here. Most likely, my son and his family will also. My home can handle that. My exposures include the need for a hand pump for the well. I’m looking at a double action windmill pump that you can hand pump. I can grow a lot of food here, but we need the well.

Seems like a lot of problems in front of my prep’s, but they are not insurmountable. I just have to continue, as JR states, playing the cards as they are dealt and hope I have enough time to get things set before everything collapses or gets shut down by EMP. Meanwhile, thank the good Lord for the blessings I have and work around the pitfalls.

I am concerned about NK because a conflict there would quickly spiral into something far bigger. NK has only one shot with their nukes – they have to make it a kill shot. Launching a nuke round towards (near) Guam is not a kill shot – but will kill them.

  3. Insider says:

    Ladies and Gents,

NK is not going to launch a nuke at Guam or the mainland. The only thing that might cause Kim to try that is if he feels his regime and power are threatened. Meanwhile, he scrambles to get a true nuclear capability across the finish line–so the rest of the world has to back off and leave him alone because the risk is too high.

If he had a real miniaturized missile mountable warhead, he would be plastering pictures all over the news to make us back off.

So, he continues to scramble, which, ironically, drives the U.S. to contemplate actions to interrupt him which, is exactly what he’s trying to prevent.

What makes all of this dangerous is that the pressure is on to stop his progress. And, there is no good plan to do that without disaster.

The question we all have to ask while this is going on is “what’s really happening that this push for war is trying to make us ignore?”

Oh, I dunno, maybe an economy that’s teetering on the edge?

    1. JR says:

You very well might be right Insider. I believe the stock market has been falsely driven upwards for some time however the economy is strong – but very problematic.

  4. Lightning says:

Trump had already brought in 4 trillion dollars to our economy but the mainstream media ignores these facts.
Clinton and Obama cleared the way for NK to build nukes .(gave them money and trusted them) well folks now we are all at risk. The worst would be for NK to set off an EMP over America. I say we should blast out their nukes and also Irans while we can.I dont take this lightly mu husband served in the Cuban blockade and history reveals that then we were one phone call away from nuclear war.

Actually the blame for petulant N Kora goes all the way back to peanut brain, Jimmy Carter and includes the Bush administrations as well.
