Every so often I recommend a few things such as movies, books, and an assortment of gear – all kinds of stuff. Most are related to survival & preparedness – while others are just stuff I like. Most are on Amazon but not all.
So – for this week……here is my list:
Books:
Doomsday Apocalypse: Book One in the Doomsday Series
Survival Theory: A Preparedness Guide
Movies:
Gear:
USB Magnetic Lithium-Ion Battery Charger
There are many reasons why so many love their Kindle and Amazon Fire tablets. One huge advantage is you could literally go years without ever buying a book to read as there are tons of free eBooks available. Don’t have a Kindle or Fire? No problem. There are apps that can be installed on most any cell phone or computer for free. No excuses!

How To Survive The Zombie Apocalypse
NOTE: If you see a free preparedness eBook that you’re interested in get it now. Prices change often and there is no way to tell how long the book will remain free. Before purchasing a free Kindle book on Amazon make certain the book is still free by making sure the price is $0.00. If it lists a price or says “read for free” or has a price for Prime members the book is not free anymore.
I travel to Asheville to the VA Hospital about every 2 months. I see various doctors for anything from a nutritionist to the eye doctor. No, I’m not sick. I’m a veteran and I’m taking advantage of the benefits allowed to me. Every trip I take, call it the paranoid side of me, I worry about getting back home. The big “What if” always plays on my mind. What if we were to experience a massive CME or EMP. That’s 90 miles this fat boy has to worry about. Most recently, I came across a book that caught my interest. “Going Home” by A. American. The story line is pretty predictable. The first couple of chapters were the most interesting. In those chapters the author talks about the items in his Get Home Bag. I found it interesting. Also wondered how he planned on traveling the 200+ miles he had to walk with a pack that weighed over 100#. Interesting.
Oh…how have I approached getting home? Obviously a serious GHB with appropriate protection. I am refurbishing my mountain bike. New tires, chain and pedals (getting rid of the pedals that require special shoes) and stocking spare tubes and tire changing tools. Add to the bike frame a rear platform for the GHB and I’ll be set. Used to rid my road bike. Average daily trip was 25 – 40 miles. Yep, the wife says I need to get back in shape and rebuild the lost muscle and appropriate butt calluses.
Rourke– I’ve just been through worrying about Dorian. I know you are prepared, so I,ll say prayers for you and yours, and, stay safe.
