Just finished Black Autumn, and I can’t stop thinking about it. The story pulls you right into a post-apocalyptic world where everything’s falling apart, and a small group of people has to figure out how to survive against all odds. It’s got plenty of action, but what really stood out to me was how real and relatable it felt—like you’re right there with them as they build a homestead, face tough choices, and fight to protect their community.
What I loved most is how it shows people pulling together in the worst of times. It’s not just about survival—it’s about teamwork, resilience, and what it takes to keep going when everything’s stacked against you.
If you’re into stories about survival, prepping, or just seeing how people adapt when life turns upside down, this one’s definitely worth a read.
Have you read it? Seen the movie?
Take care all –

I have read the series and did enjoy it. I have not seen the movie as of yet. My prediction about it being out on Amazon by now has not happened. I did join the Guild on Angel Studios’ website, so maybe I can watch it there.
I’ve only read a couple of the books from the series starting with Black Autumn and enjoyed them, saw the movie also when it came out.
There are a lot of people trashing the movie because it wasn’t a typical shoot’em up, constant gunfight event and that it didn’t follow the first book page by page either. I enjoyed it for several reasons including able to see a little more glimpse of what Homestead looked like, the side things of the shelters used for the people, little more behind the scenes of visual aspects. It really makes one think, especially those of us living in a suburban area if we could pull together our neighbors or even just a few of them if something would happen. Let’s face it, you need community. You cannot do everything that’s needed daily around your place including providing security 24/7, you cannot be the only medic, gardener, security guy, mechanic, radio guy, person who washes the clothing, purifying the water etc etc.
I have Angel studios guild… and got free tickets and seen it in the theater… but there is a series that you can watch there as well there is like 2-3 episodes out that continue on from where the movie left off…. I liked the movie and see myself in this movie per say and what people would do… but according to the movie…. I probably wont make it… I have no fortifications like that nor can I afford them… so Ill just last as long as I can
Deb,
Got an email today saying the movie is now available online at Angel Studios as well. Still not on Amazon yet!
deb,
it takes a community to survive, we can’t do it alone.
church is the best place to make contacts with likeminded people in your area. just go slow with them, get to know them first and always offer help.
and always ask for advice, folks always like to be asked for their advice, it makes them feel needed and special. and you may learn something!
you’ll get out of it what you put into it with people.
best of luck
