A simple butane lighter, like a Bic, is one of the best survival tools you can stockpile. It’s small, cheap, and reliable—perfect for starting fires to stay warm, cook food, or boil water in an emergency. Unlike matches, a Bic lighter can be used hundreds of times and works even after getting wet (just dry it out). Keep extras in your bug-out bag, car, and emergency kits. Fire is life in a survival situation—don’t get caught without a way to make it! 🔥
Here are a couple of good deals on bulk packages of butane lighters:

buy a pack of 5 or 6 every time you go to the grocery store. they don’t cost much and will add up fast. not only will you have an easy way to start a fire, but think of the barter value in them.
speaking of good barter items, i have a lot of cheap reading glasses in different power lenses that i was able to get a while back when the dollar tree had them for a dollar. what’s it worth to someone to be able to see.
some people put their money in silver and gold and there is nothing wrong with that. i put mine in things that us or others can use right now like
food, water and things that will make our lives easier should something happen. weather related events happen quite often here in these parts of the deep south. often enough that our community looks like an indy 500 pit crew with chainsaws and tractors dealing with it when it does happen. we have it down to an artform here. we have heard of FEMA but we have never seen one. do they taste good?
good luck all
