Does anyone have any thoughts on this monkey-pox virus? I believe far too many who are just worn out by the whole CV19 crap are discounting this too quickly.

For me, I hope it blows over and is extremely limited in its spread. We do not need anything else to deal with.

Monkeypox may be uncomfortable but has less mortality rate than the Wuhan virus. Some may still have some protection from a smallpox inoculation of years ago. It’s also not airborne transmissible unlike Wuhan. Of course, this only applies if it hasn’t been tinkered with.
A contact I have in Europe is of the opinion that this is a man-made variant, because it’s spreading too fast. From what I’ve heard so far, the cases in the US/Canada have no obvious connection to the ones in Europe, and none of the recent ones on either side of the ocean involved a trip to Africa.
The WHO and CDC both recommend following airborne precautions because we do know that monkeypox can spread through the respiratory tract & mucous membranes as well as through open wounds. The majority so far have been through sexual contact, but I haven’t been able to find the cause for the others or anything that clarifies what “majority” means.
So far, all reported cases have been mild, but children, young adults, and the immunocompromised are at highest risk. For those of us born before 1972, our smallpox vaccines will supposedly be 85% effective.

I just read a fact sheet that was posted 2hrs ago. Here is a cut down of the info presented.
“Agam Rao, of the CDC, an infections disease specialist and poxvirus expert”… had these comments.
“Monkey pox is a known quantity. We have the tools to prevent it and treat it. For the time being, the public doesn’t need to particularly be worried.”
My opinion, as long as Fauci doesn’t get involved, we should be alright.

This is another contrived attempt at fear porn by TPTB, clear and simple. It is not easily transmissible as it is not airborne (read:no masks) Body fluids and such, much like AIDS. Predominantly gay or bi men it would seem at this point, ie close contact are the recipients. Focal point in Europe was a gay pride festival of 80k people in the Canary Islands. It is endemic in parts of Africa. It is zoonotic in nature ie disease that can be transmitted by animals to humans, the monkeys are a vector (think bushmeat) but other animals have been noted as well. There was an outbreak in the US in 2003 via prairie dogs, squirrels and some species of rats. It has a very low transmissible rate, it does not mutate quickly like a coronavirus and it is not very deadly from what I read. It does look awful, and that alone will scare the bejesus out of a lot of folks. Not a lot is known about it as it is very rare indeed. Simple contact tracing and temporary quarantine are effective in controlling an outbreak and there are anti viral drugs available for treatment. There is a vaccine for it but is recommended for first responders, health care workers. And of course it has been noted to have been studied in the Wuhan virological site in China and probably other places as well.

During the Ebola crises I did extensive research and monkey pox ( both being in Africa) was mentioned. Monkey pox is spread but close contact ( possibly sexual contact between humans and monkeys or from eating monkey meat- and possibly from men having sex with men .( it would be interesting to get the stats on how many men vs woman currently have it.)
Since Biden ordered millions of vaccinations for monkey pox and small pox from Bavarian Nordic in Finland -the vaccine is known as “Jynneos”
there may be a danger from it.
I had a small pox vaccination as a child (oouch my age is telling 71) and I tried to get it for my children- not a chance unless you were going to Africa and could show the tickets to NYS Dept of health.
I would like to see all citizens have the option of getting the small pox vaccine BEFoRE it ever hits as a biological weapon-this does kill.
The fact that monkey pox normally is only in Africa and S Africa I believe it is definitely purposefully being spread as another control the masses and shut them down tactic or worse another country trying to bring us down again.
I spoke with my own Dr. who agreed that it is most probably being
spread purposefully .
Otherwise there would be larger numbers in a few countries- not several here and there in many countries.

The local Stewards shoppes here that are gas and convenience and local dairy and ice cream stores are out of straws for iced beverages and ice cream floats etc. and have no idea if and when the straws will be available again.It is laughable.
The TRactor supply stores here are OUT of sunflower bird seed with no re-stock date in sight and cracked corn jumped to $15.39 per 50 lb bag,( from $13. two weeks ago)They are also out of some dry and canned cat food as are the grocery stores.

A variant of Chicken Pox.. not critical or mortal… Uncomfortable certainly and I am sure deadly for those that have co-morbidities.. So far that is a very vanishingly small percentage…

The virus has been tinkered with and is more virulent as tested in mice.

Correction, chickenpox despite its name is not from the genus orthopoxvirus of which monkeypox originates from, rather the genus varicellovirus, species type of herpes virus, aka varicella zoster virus. Fortunately, despite monkeypox name, it is not easily communicable vs chickenpox which is enormously transmissible. It does not confer immunity for those exposed to the monkeypox. However the smallpox vaccination may still confer immunity even though its use was discontinued in the early 70’s as it had been declared eradicated. Judging by your moniker, you are old enough to probably had been vaccinated for smallpox, in the ole days. Have a great day.

After reading up .. it was first identified in monkey’s circa 1958 (hence the name). It “became” (one assumes a mutation) zoonotic circa 1970’s (so mayo and other lite thinks). Viruses mutate.. and they also get engineered.. could be either or neither. One thing i foudn telling in my reading.. and it doesn’t take much of a tinfoil hat to think this.. A monkey pox vaccine was developed in 2019. So I asked myself why a vaccine when it’s considered eradicated by modern statistical standards. Hmm …
So I went to see who produced it.. for altruism, scholarly or profit ?
The vaccine probably was not accidental and certainly not produced commercially for a non profit. So who woudl do that .. TADA! Pfizer! Really… This is the same Pfizer who’s windfall profits form the “other ” virus have dropped of drastically.
It isn’t much of a stretch to think about WHY the idea and received seom traction lately.. or why capitalizing on any lingering fears or sheepism’s might be used to improve sales and prop up profits i.e. Stock Prices…
I’ll leave this here for your own conclusions.
We, none of us, is forever. It’s only ever been a question of what and when really. Personally I’m to concerned about this one though.
