Just finished Black Autumn, and I can’t stop thinking about it. The movie Homestead is based on this series. The story pulls you right into a post-apocalyptic world where everything’s falling apart, and a small community of people has to figure out how to survive against all odds. It’s got plenty of action, but what really stood out to me was how real and relatable it felt—like you’re right there with them as they build a homestead community, face tough choices, and fight to protect their homes.
What I loved most is how it shows people pulling together in the worst of times. It’s not just about survival—it’s about teamwork, resilience, and what it takes to keep going when everything’s stacked against you. If you’re into stories about survival, prepping, or just seeing a glimpse of a possible future for all of us, this one’s worth a read. 🌾 Have you read it?
By the way – there are several books in this series. I think I’m on Book 5 right now. Love it.

I am reading it now!
i’ll check it out. sounds good. i already have to many books and not enough shelves now HAHA, really.
some of my favorites have been the Left Behind series as far as post apocalyptic how to reads. anything by Jack London, and anything by Louis Louis L’Amour ( the walking drum and fair blows the wind are two of my favorites ) and Alexandre Dumas.
i read Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe at an early age and it left a profound impression on my life.
…what might be called the upper station of low life, which he had found, by long experience, was the best state in the world, the most suited to human happiness, not exposed to the miseries and hardships, the labour and sufferings of the mechanic part of mankind, and not embarrassed with the pride, luxury, ambition, and envy of the upper part of mankind.
Crusoe’s father goes on to explain, as an example, that even kings wished to be in such a place, between the poor (“mean”) and great— for an easier life. He continues by saying that a wise man prays to avoid poverty as well as riches. All in all, his father insists that those in the “middle state” have the best life of all.
Listened to the entire series over the last 4-5 years. Good books. Movie sucked.
