Apologize for not publishing my normal “From the Desk of…” yesterday. I had to take Wifey to the ER. The short and sweet – She had swelling in her lower extremities and went to an urgent care facility. The doctor there was very concerned she may have a blood clot and sent us to the ER. There the doctor ruled out a blood clot but ran tests for that as well as other concerns. Everything came back good. Quite a relief and the doctor was very happy. She is now following up with her regular doctor but struggling to get an appointment. Currently, her appointment is 3 weeks out. If there is a cancellation she’ll go.

Local Sam’s Club ran out of gas today. More to come? We’ll see.

Hurricane Irma is far out in the Atlantic heading West and currently a Cat 3. Meteorologists are predicting it will strengthen to a Cat 4. The big question is where Irma will track.

September is Preparedness Month. Many online vendors are having special sales. I’ll post a list shortly.

Question: Anyone have an AR they are wanting to build? What is it? Would like to hear your concept. I’m not talking fantasy at work here, rather, a realistic build.

Sending prayers for you and your wife
Prayers for your wife.
Prayers for you and your wife/family as this unexpected turn is dealt with….unexpecteds suck….
Hoping this long weekend can help recharge everyone, no matter what your unexpected is…
Stop to rest, but don’t quit….
Our thoughts are with you guys and pray for a cancellation so she can get in sooner. The unknown is the worst. Our medical issues always happen late Friday and you can’t get a hold of DR until Monday.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Praying for a speedy recovery.
Am in the process (turning out to be a long one) of building a “ghost gun”. Bought an 80% lower just before the elections last year when it looked like Hitlery was going to be the next president. Have removed the initial material with my drill press but the end mill didn’t clean up everything very well. My trigger assembly won’t go in far enough to put the pins through. Am waiting for a new mill to arrive so I can try again. It will be 300 Blackout. Already have the barrel but still need everything else. Am hoping the Hearing Protection Act gets passed. Would like to have a suppressor for it but getting the stamp is currently too much of a pain. Maybe I’ll have a shooter by the first of 2018? We will see…
I have been looking at parts and vaguely thinking of a 9mm SBR, just to put together something different. 12″ barrel or 7.5″ with suppressor and a folding stock rather than collapsible. DBAL sighting. The gun glut has made parts prices interesting, with a lot of sales.
Prayers to the wife and those in Texas.
Hey folks, if you are Zello users, you can listen to the Cajun Navy rescue efforts and others. Just go to “trending channels” and check it out.
Zello is a phone app that uses the data path for voice communications. Works just like a PTT radio.
keeping the wife in our thoughts & that it’s nothing serious. We’re having some issues and know how stressful it can be with a significant other.
A build I’d like to do is a 9mm ar pistol with shockwave armbrace 10.5″ barrel and the ability to take the curved metal Sterling or MP5 magazines. Just for some reason the Glock magazines & how they sit just turn me off of 9mm AR carbines/pistols.
JR, saying a prayer for your wife and you.
Glad your wife is okay. Prayers coming your way.
Gasoline? Read from the Texas RR commissioner the current gas issues is not critical. It’s only a matter of supply and demand due to re-routing of trucks and other disaster issues that will be resolved within the next 2 weeks. People are just making a run on Gas all over the place. Yet again, makes you realize. Is your prep based on a finite supply, like Gas? Or on Solar, Wind, Geothermal, and Water?

I just completed what was supposed to be an basic “economy” build. Unfortunately for me, prices are coming down and I think I could have purchased cheaper. On a positive note, this one is “off the books”. I used the BCG and handle to upgrade another AR, and recycled the parts.
Ruger lower with trigger kit and buffer kit – $150
PTAC upper – $150
BCG – $120
Charging Handle – $90
So, I have $510 in an undocumented build that I could have purchased cheaper.
I think a base DPMS is less than $400, on sale
Rourke- please tell your wife I am praying for you both. Did anyone recommend that she
elevate her legs and maybe take some Vit. B6 to alleviate some fluid-it helps.
Did the Drs. test her heart ? Kidneys?
Gas prices here have skyrocketed $2.65 per gallon is the cheapest.
Raining here and very chilly high 40s.Mts had 31 last night.

Rourke- that photo of the storm and lightning was incredible-thanks.
