The trend towards “grippy” textures being added to pistols for better handling is definitely a positive one. While the ability to hold a gun may not seem like much of an issue at the range but when the sweat starts pouring and grips get wet things can get slick.

Magazines are a bit behind on the trend. “Stippling” can make a huge improvement in retention and it can be done at home with a simple woodburning kit.

AR, magazine, stippling, AR-15,

Set up a fan to move the fumes away as burning plastic isn’t exactly healthy to inhale. Pretty rewarding doing this yourself.

It’s interesting over the last few decades as the church has been pushed out of the public to the confines of four walls on Sunday that society has continued a spiraling downward trend.

I suspect this is not a coincidence.

I’m in the process of testing a new flashlight. Those that have read my numerous flashlight reviews know I prefer those that turn ON and OFF. All of the strobe and multiple brightness levels and SOS functions are not needed in most cases. ON and OFF is ideal for me.

It will be a couple weeks before I know if I can recommend this light.

A flashlight that doesn’t have the 5 settings and that worthless strobe that isn’t from 1990 era? My interest is peaked!! I did just convert a old usgi anglehead to a led, brightness isn’t spectacular but runtime is great and I can use aa inserts too.

Now I like the sounds of that conversion. Going to look into that.

OK – here is the light: http://amzn.to/2AckLCy

It is a Coast HX5. I ordered several for work. They are 130 lumens with alkaline – not bad, but – they also take lithium-ion rechargeable batteries which with 3.7 volts boost the brightness to 345.

I’ve been using it for over a week and its been riding in my pocket. For 345 lumens it is very small and handy. I put it in a glass of water for over an hour this afternoon and it works fine.
