From the Desk of John Rourke – May 30th, 2017

NOTE: Technical difficulties led to this post publishing late. Sorry about that.

It was great seeing red, white, and blue yesterday all over social media. Seems like it was more prevalent this year than last.

I have been working on editing my book – A Survival Story – and giving it a new cover. May take a few days for Amazon to approve it. Nothing major changed in the story just fixed some grammar and spelling errors. If the cover gets approved that would be a major improvement. Right now only the Kindle edition is effected.

I will link to it once the change takes place.

I was thinking of writing one of those “budget guns for survival” posts when I realized things have really changed over the past year. Prices have dropped so dramatically the doors have been opened for many firearms that previously would not have been considered “budget”.

Ammunition prices continue to drop as well.

In my quest to expand 1776PatriotUSA to a larger audience I have set a record for website views. With one day left May 2017 will go on record as the highest traffic month since its inception. Appreciate any social media shares that people have done. I have a long ways to go to get to where I want to be.

I have changed quite a few things over the past several months. I’m putting up higher quality pictures/graphics. I have reduced the number of ads along the right sidebar. I believe the ads that do exist – which total 6 – are higher quality and more attractive. I am sensitive to over commercializing the site and that is probably to my detriment.

Many of these changes are rather subtle but hopefully they have been positive. Some good stuff is planned ahead including the recently mentioned download section.

There are many reasons why so many love their Kindle and Amazon Fire tablets. One huge advantage is you could literally go years without every buying a book to read as there are tons of free eBooks available. Don’t have a Kindle or Fire? No problem. There are apps that can be installed on most any cell phone or computer for free. No excuses!

NOTE: If you see a free preparedness eBook that you’re interested in get it now. Prices change often and there is no way to tell how long the book will remain free. Before purchasing a free Kindle book on Amazon make certain the book is still free by making sure the price is $0.00. If it lists a price or says “read for free” or has a price for Prime members the book is not free anymore.

Yes, lots of great Memorial Day postings – so glad to see it! Kim Jon – should be taken out. His people should be set free! Love the prices I’m seeing. Allowing me to help prep my boys with good guns and help them lay back ammo. Love the website and all the improvements. Have shared with lots of friends who are greatly enjoying your site and helpful information. Please keep up the great work!

Thanks for sharing your thought process on changing and expanding the site. I’m a regular reader and love the content here. The ads are fine in my opinion because they stay put in one place, we can read them or not, and they are not popping up and getting in the way of reading all the good stuff! Speaking of reading, can’t wait to read your book…

I often look at other sights rourke, but when I get the pop ups, side bar adds constantly trying to open as I scroll down to read content, I’ve ALWAYS unsubscribed and it is very rare I open the adds… I find it forceful and resent it personally, just my two cents..

I never trust sites that have more than a couple ads. I’m there to see YOUR page. If you feel the need to inundate me with links to other sites, I’m going to wonder why you’re trying to divert my attention and why you apparently believe that your site can’t stand on its own merits.

SingleMm – thanks for the comment. I understand your perspective and this is one of the reasons I am likely oversensitive to pop-ups and ads. I do not care for them myself but depends on how they are done.

The reality is it costs money to run one fo these websites. So while I have ads and will continue to do so it is to pay the bills not so much to divert attention or not stand on my own merit. My hope is many readers will click on some of those ads and check out what they have to offer. I only give ad space to those who I feel warrants it.
