Gov. Chris Christie has received tremendous criticism over his sitting on a beach outside his house and how he has responded to the situation. While he may not have made the best decision the MSM exaggerated what took place. I kinda like how he just speaks his mind and tells it like it is.
Here’s a thought: How about the MSM report on REAL news that effects our lives and the future of this country?

Garden continues to produce well. A few more plants have died which they are swiftly added to the compost bin. Replanting several new cucumber and squash plants has been completed. The picture below shows several varieties of tomatoes.

If you are setting up a shooting range on your own property chicken wire strung between a couple posts make it very easy to mount targets. Throw some clothes pins up to hold the targets and you’re good to go.

Saw a thread on a FB survival group I frequent where someone was asking about bugging out to an island in the middle of a large lake. I guess that could be an option if the location was just right. How long to stay on the island would be a question. If the only supplies would be carried on the kayak or boat then long term might be considered weeks – at best.
Pre-stage supplies? Interesting thought.

There is no money in it for the MSM to report facts, and real news. The media today is a product of the sensationalism that William Randolph Hearst created long ago. They are not journalists any more where they report things as “And that’s the way it is” like Walter Cronkite used to. They are now part of the political industry where facts take a far back seat to hype, and their proprietors interests. Sad how many people are ignorant of that fact really.
On an island…in the middle of the lake? Fish in a barrel or easy pickens for someone with a long rifle? Isolated, at the mercy of any weather, locked in space, if you ever need to leave that island for something, someone Will, be waiting for you. No thanks.
Awesome garden results. My second replant failed. I need more compost. *Sigh* I’m cynically and quickly coming the possible realization I’m going to have to store back a lot of pesticide.
Just read your previous posts. Been a wild and great week and half so far. Just got back from JW Marriott resort in San Antonio sponsored by company. Got to pretend I was rich for 3 days..heh. Just got back last night from Corpus Christi, visiting the USS Lexington and other sights.
Awesome Kayak picture Rourke.
Signed up with a group from work to do a tough mudder. Started the pre-training Sunday at 5am. I made it up until the last part. It’s all mental to me. It’s the civilian attempt at Marine training IMO. Either way, it’s time to fire it. No pain, no gain. Mind over matter. If you don’t mind…it won’t matter.

Bad news Sells .. good news does not .. and no advertisers pay for anything that people don’t watch. So WE did it .. as in the BIG group.. I personally don’t watch it .. but I am in the minority of the population on that.
An Island is like walking into a boxed canyon.. Easier to defend until someone determined tries .. and then it’s a trap. It discourage casual discovery .. Once discovered .. it’s game over .. IMO…
I used to think mind over matter until I stayed hurt more than healed..
Good luck man .. and have fun with it ..
Not a bad thought on the targets.. I may do a couple T-Posts and try it out.

Dog days of summer are biting at our heals….never bothered me as a kid and we never had air conditioning. But hey, being a water rat and hubby also, our four kids turned out the same so we never thought it was needed. Fast forward twenty-five years with kids on their own and me on night shift, i made due with a fan and soaked/rung out sleeping attire. Once DH moved to night shift work as well, we rethought the air conditioning. Now we are spoiled and plan outdoor activities around the heat of the day. Yep….we live a very spoiled life for the most part. i don’t mind working hard, getting grimy, hot and tired but boy…being able to clean up and stay cool, to sleep especially, is one of my favorite things of this modern life we enjoy. The thought of no air conditioning or running hot/cold water for cleaning up is daunting, though i am sure there will be more pressing issues to take my attention if life takes a turn backwards. And i don’t even live in the southern tier of states that are more hot/humid.
Looks like you have a nice variety of tomatoes JR, mmmmmmm…..! Have always liked the cherry/smaller ones as they seem to keep well and pack well for brown bagging it. (Also dry easily compared to large slicing tomatoes if one is using primitive methods.)
Capt.Michael’s…enjoyed the Tough Murder clip. Hope your team exceeds the expected goals and you accomplish an advancing of your fitness level. Knowing what one is capable of under pressure is definitely an advantage. Speaking of which, we had an unexpected demonstration of this on the evening of the 3rd. While i was cleaning up a late supper inside, three adults and two of the grandkids were out back sending up some glow-copters about 30 yards behind the house. Neighbors next door started to light fireworks so our family moved another yard away not really thinking the fireworks posed a threat, especially since the neighbors setting off the fireworks knew they were out there. Unexpectedly, a volley of rockets went sideways into our family group, exploding multiple times in and around them. Surprisingly, it was some of the adults who froze, unable to process the reality of just what was happening and take action…ANY action. As i opened the back door to the explosions and screaming it was heart rending to not have power to protect them from the misfire that could not be stopped. (God, however, did protect them from serious harm.) After the dust settled, three relatively small burns-two through clothing and one on the face-were the only PHYSICAL evidence of the twenty second crisis that occurred. (Surprisingly, we are still on speaking terms with the neighbors.) Psychologically, the impact of the crisis slowly started to show. After the fact, anger was expected…especially parents of the children affected were upset. But there was a questioning of one’s self for not reacting fast enough OR well enough. HOW ONE REACTS UNDER FIRE was pondered long into the evening…a good thing to come out of a not so good event.
Chicken wire…not just to keep the critters out of my garden. Amazing idea…..
….silly spell check. “Tough Mudder” though for me it WOULD be murder….hahaha….
