Bill O’Reilly off Fox News and The Factor. Always liked him. Too bad.

Prepper Discipline: Sometimes when looking at a preparedness system and current inventory you realize that you need to stock up on “X” and “Y”. Then you think to yourself, “Self – it would be great to have X and Y if something happens but I really would rather go buy Z.”

It has happened to me numerous times where I want to go buy a new gun but the reality is I need more “boring” food. We all need the discipline to make the right decisions rather than always the fun ones.

I really like the looks of this SB Tactical SBPDW stabilizer for AR pistols. Might include in my next build.

Talked to the wife about getting back into some activities this summer. Kayaking is a given and will start back soon. After the hike recently in Georgia asked her if she would be interested in getting into backpacking.  She’s not real keen on sleeping in a tent along the trail. Makes me want to do it even more!

Got our mountain bikes out and oiled them up. Will take them out soon. Lot’s of trails in the area and I prefer off road.

Rourke-you are so naughty…. maybe you could compromise and you and your wife
could find a lean to to camp in along the trail. Heads up TICKS are at an all time year round high here in the Northeast.Took the grand girls for a farm hike yesterday
and we had to de-tick ourselves and the dog when we got home. We now treat the pets year round.Folks stock up on doxycycline because Drs dont always give meds after a bite unless theres a big ring with a bullseye or symptoms ( body aches) and by then it may be too late.I almost died last summer from an unknown tick bite-I was terribly sick for 6 weeks . My Dr blew the rash off (I didnt find a tick then) and later
he treated me thoroughly -turns out it was from a tick -called babeosis(sp?.) (red cells are destroyed )
I also liked Bill OReilly. He should have known better.
I will be without a computer for the several days while it gets repaired.

I did not know that Lighting. It tells me I need to look into what “things” I need to be aware of in Texas. Where do I buy doxycycline? Is that fish-biotics or can I buy anywhere? Also, is that just for pets? Hope you get your pc back soon.

I’m going through the same thing Rourke. How do I get the wife to go primitive camping? The kids want to go already. I could buy a cot for her so she will have some good comfort, but that will be weighty. I was thinking about an air mattress. Those can get heavy to, but I can pack it much easier. I do know this..when it comes to primitive camping. One needs the right tools, for the right job. When I was in the military things were different and it was just me I had to worry about. A basic cheap tent and a basic sleeping bag. Will only leave you wet from the morning dew/rain and a horrible sleep. The rest the camping trip only goes down hill from there as most of us probably found out the hard way already.

Capt., I’ve had good results with Thompson.. You can get it for Fish or Bird use. A little pricey, but works well. Used it in india a couple times. You might be able to get it locally at a Co-Op as well.
Good to see FedEx planes are still useful in the after…

Yeah a lot of my prepping activities are less sexy than a gun and more like work… Learning how to produce food, raise animals, etc etc … but unless you are actively engaged with an enemy, that is what most of it will be. Feeding yourself and family, trying to stay healthy and warm and dry. Co9uld be a Tornado, Hurricane … learning what TO do and what NOT to do is a big deal.

Can’t blame your wife, sleeping on the ground sucks. Perhaps a good hammock tent? I’ve been doing a lot of research for my current AR build, a pistol based PDW. SB Tactical’s SBPDW brace is definitely the way to go, for several reasons. 1st- no stamp needed. 2nd- it’s a quality piece. 3rd- it uses a standard bolt carrier group, unlike nearly every true PDW stock on the market (yes I said stock). 4th- although by no means cheap, the price is more than competitive for this type of hardware…

Hahaha!! I had a Mongoose, before a could afford my Trek. You don’t know what a real bike is until you have a Trek!!!!

Rourke…try using a yoga mat. Not one of the thin little ones, but one of the thick ones. That might help with some of the lumps and bumps. Or one of those memory foam mattress toppers in twin size. It’s pricey, but it might help your wife and can roll up really small. When my husband and I would do our Civil War re-enacting every weekend, I made a straw tick and filled it with straw, threw my yoga mat over my side of the bed and an old sheet. Worked like a champ. Make sure it is straw though, not hay, especially if you have allergies.
