Updated May 24, 2020: According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), consumer spending drove about 70% of the U.S. GDP in 2019. Where this money goes is another story. As Visual Capitalist’s Iman Ghosh notes, in the first and second quarters of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has initiated a transformation of where consumers spend their money in lieu of widespread shelter-at-home orders.
Here at Ammo.com, our growth in sales has directly correlated with the public’s increasing leeriness of COVID-19. Starting on February 23, sales began to increase as the search term “coronavirus” gained traction, according to Google Trends. This increase in sales over the past 90 days has continued as follows:
- 592% increase in revenue
- 502% increase in transactions
- 235% increase in site traffic
- 80% increase in conversion rate
- 14% increase in average order value
Note: These figures compare 90 days of sales, February 23 to May 23, to the previous 90 day time period, November 24, 2019 to February 22, 2020. November 24 was the Sunday before Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
It’s only going to keep on going. With all that happened in the last 3 months,get ready for a rush on everything. I mean Everything!

That is a tenuous connection.
I think millions of Americans buy ammunition because of this economic lock-down.
I think the belief goes something along these lines:

Ammo sales are up because people know they may have to defend themselves against Antifa and other anarchist type groups and thugs.
…has anyone else been “warned” about 1776 Patriots or other webpages they frequent being “unsafe or suspect” to go to by their search engine? It’s been happening to me the past few days, (today’s Wednesday 6/3.) i am becoming a “little bit jumpy,” to borrow a phrase from “Starman.” It’s enough to make me drop off into “grayness”: and not come back. However, the blessings of STILL being abel to have access to the online connections here and elsewhere are NOT un-noticed or un-appreciated by me. To have this “event” happen the last few months without having deprived us of the modern conveniences we had EXPECTED to disappear, at least yet, is giving us a reprieve i hope we all take advantage of!
My biggest concern is that we, especially us girls, fall into that normalcy bias and don’t see the next thing coming… whatever it is. Please, everyone keep your eyes open and be watchful!
