From the Desk of John Rourke – November 30th, 2017

Ordered mylar bags and oxygen absorbers. As I am looking at goals for 2018 food storage is a major one. While I feel well off in the food department I’ve realized there may be additions to my group I’ve not planned for. My older son has a girlfriend he would not leave and would want to bring her to the retreat.

With that said order 5-gallon mylar bags and absorbers. The plan is to fill up another 6-8 buckets with rice and screw on gamma lids. I’ll do a couple more with beans and maybe a couple other things. Also planning on taking one bucket and use for spic and herbs.

Food is very inexpensive right now and so critically important. No better time to stock up than now.

Think I’ll get some hard candy to vacuum pack, add an oxygen absorber – stash away.

If I was Japan I would be very nervous.

I also just received a load of oxygen absorbers from Em. essentials.
My wish for Christmas is that our country will be safe ,that justice and peace will prevail in the world along with enough food and water for every good human being and animal.
That we will be able to remain on our beloved farm. Lightning

I just added those oxygen absorbers and bags to my Amazon list. This will be the first time I have used them.

For Christmas? Less stress and more happiness for everyone.

Except anti-Trumpers. Fiery pits o’plenty for them. I have had enough already.

What do I want for Christmas? Family together and happy and healthy. I think I’d like to have a pistol AK or AR. Wish you and our 1776 Family a very merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!

    Christmas wish list:
Large cabin on a remote lake filled with fish, family, and a deep larder. A visit from Old Saint Rourke would be a fun plus too 🙂

Good list JR. Sounds like the same order I’m putting in this morning. Of course the wife will think I’ve slipped a cog and gotten closer to “Shady Pines” rest home. All things considered, as GoingGray58 stated…”more time”….I think we are about to run out of time. Hope everyone has on their list oil for the Aladdin lamps. It’s coming. This time next year we could easily be back to the so-called “good ole days” with no electricity.
Just a thought here. I’ve always been told that the folks who depend on insulin will be some of the first to go if we get zapped with an EMP. I don’t believe that. As someone who is one 2 different types of insulin plus Metformin, I think with the elimination of electricity, I’ll be working my can off getting firewood, making the garden work, tending livestock, living on a limited diet etc. If anything, I’ll have to manage my blood sugar to assure I don’t drop too low.

All I want for Christmas is no unexpected expenses, lots of wool socks, and more/better sleep than I currently get. Hoping that I can buy a new mattress in the spring with income tax refund because the old one is impossibly uncomfortable even with extra foam padding & a quilted mattress cover.

All I want for Christmas is another cord of dry wood in the shed, up to date.. in the moment information source and as always a few more, bullets, beans and band-aids.

Well, Santa answered my wood needs with Hurricane Irma. I have cords of the stuff split and drying for my KBQ smoker. What would I like for Christmas? Hmm … maybe Peace and goodwill for all mankind? If I can’t have that I will just hold on to my machine gun. 😉

I have saved rice and beans like most here but I’m lucky to live here in SW Florida, at least when the storms aren’t trying to kill me. I have food jumping out of the ground all year round. I have so much kale and mustard greens at the moment I could harvest with a machete and bale it. The funny part is I didn’t plant any of it. It reseeds each year and does it all for me. I just have to keep the wood chips hauled in for the fertility.
