From the Desk of John Rourke – September 4th, 2017

Hope everyone had a good weekend and enjoys their Labor Day. Weather was great here in South Carolina and mostly relaxed. Went on a short mountain bike ride through some local woods which was pretty cool. Saw some rabbits and deer.

I can’t figure out if Kim Jong Un is extremely smart – or totally insane. The latest successful testing reportedly consisted of a hydrogen bomb small enough to be placed inside an ICBM. They continue to have major advancements in their nuclear program – if you believe everything that we are being told.

Appreciate the recent orders for the Sawyer Water Filter Bucket Kits. Saw several names that looked familiar. I’ve been doing some additional testing with two units in one bucket. Higher flow volume works well when needing larger amounts of water.

It’s being reported that the FBI and DHS warned local law enforcement that Antifa and similar groups could be violent with some documents calling them “domestic terrorists”. This was not released to the public in 2016. Interesting.

I watched a report today concerning the water shortage in Houston and surrounding areas. Cases and cases of water are being handed out and I kept thinking to myself – “Self – why don’t they hand out some water filters?”

Definitely taking a look at my water situation which I have felt pretty good about.

Re : Houston and the water-good point Rourke. The e coli is so high in the water there now that I wonder if the filters could handle it.
The sores and illness that revived itself from the local rivers here in Schoharie( when the huge flood hit -6 years ago today)were terrifying.I volunteered at the Red Cross
and it was gross. To this day many homes and stores are still vacant.Texas will be
    hurting for many years.
The NK leader may be distracted a bit with the 5.6 earthquake that just hit NK. I think
he is very sane and we need to be one step ahead of him. Lightning

The ‘why’ they don’t hand out water filters is because the majority of them are not designed to take out the chemicals/petro chemicals and raw sewage that is in the water most people will dip their buckets into to get said water for drinking. Remember, people have no common sense anymore even if provided directions on ‘how to use’ said filters. I’ve helped clean up after a localized flooding and after seeing the oily sheen and smell of sewage and chemicals in standing water, I don’t think even my Katadyn Combi would make that water drinkable.

Agreed!!! Most people do not realize a water filter would be useless in this situation. To many pollutants in the water. The chemicals alone would kill even if you use a filter. The best option would be to bug out and I’m a bug in guy for the most part.

As the dominoes associated with Harvey continue to fall it is sometimes apparent, sometimes surprising, the effects. The huge scope of the crisis is to blame in some cases but the number of people affected is more than my mind can take in…thinking and praying for anyone suffering loss in any way from the devastation. My small contribution seems best used in the hands of the RED CROSS/SALVATION ARMY but, as in any disaster, make sure you donate to the REAL charity whichever you choose. There are many fraudulent entities posing as an authentic charity using a similar name hard to tell from the real one if not careful.

After seeing comments on possible effects across the country, (away from the flooded area,) i wonder what additional “unexpecteds” will come and how long they will continue. The flooding experienced in the past decade here in the Midwest, while devastating to those flooded, did not destroy such a large area. Recovery is not complete for many and cities still struggle to put safeguards in place against possible future flooding. There is no prevention for the flooding in TX/LA. With the possibility of Irma turning it’s major storm power into devastation along the coast or any future storms coming onshore, relief/help could be spread thin. As well as recovery materials/personnel/assistance. Could be a “perfect storm” in MORE ways than one…..i pray not.

Congratulations JR on hitting #27… another week or so will hopefully see you jump two more spots if everyone keeps at it 🙂 ( Hope your wife is much improved…none of us stand alone. How one member of a family feels affects everyone else so much! )

    Everyone enjoy Monday !!!

Stop to rest …but don’t quit.

I was one of those who picked up to sawyer bucket systems. I live in Bedford DFW North Texas. the only thing I have in our preps to remove chems from the water is a (Distiller), something to keep in mind. We have sent two Tractor trailers down to the effected zone to staging area to be distributed.

This has been quite a tough year for the tropical storm season. I feel sick for the folks in coastal Texas and for many here locally that lost so much in the flooding we experienced in Lee County Florida in the last week. And now the forecast grows more foreboding for us with Irma. We are at full saturation and then some now and might perhaps be dealing with at least a category 4 storm by the weekend. I did some tree pruning today to help protect my home but the real worry is flooding for the reasons I mentioned. Of course I always have concern for the 45 solar panels on the roof as well. Fingers crossed.

He’s a sociopath, with a huge dose of MegaloMania. We have not pushed back and have allowed him to push forward.. Making him bolder and stronger. Worse, giving him time to actually get stronger. IF THAAD works .. shoot them down.. all of them.
AAAANNNNDDDD now the rest of the world sees us as indecisive and weaker.

on Water, doesn’t providing water keep the people humble and dependent upon the government? “Teach a man to fish….” right? I have been amazed at photos shared by friends in the are of store shelves completely bare. We have seen it for decades, people are not willing to do today for tomorrow if it takes away from the wants of NOW.

    Just my two cents.
