Simple Cornbread Recipe

Here’s a simple recipe for cornbread that you can easily make with shelf-stable ingredients!

Cornbread Recipe

Ingredients:

– 1 cup cornmeal

– 1 cup all-purpose flour

– 1/4 cup sugar

– 1 tablespoon baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1 cup milk (powdered milk can be used, just mix it with water)

– 1/4 cup vegetable oil

– 1 large egg (or 1 tablespoon of water mixed with 1 teaspoon of oil as an egg substitute)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir them together until they are well mixed.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the milk, vegetable oil, and egg (or egg substitute). Whisk them together until smooth.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir gently until everything is just combined. Don’t over-mix; it’s okay if there are a few lumps.
  5. Pour into Pan: Grease an 8-inch square baking pan or a similar-sized oven-safe dish. Pour the batter into the pan, spreading it evenly.
  6. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and Serve: Once done, remove the pan from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Cut the cornbread into squares and enjoy!

This cornbread is great as a side dish or even for breakfast. Enjoy!!
