It’s Time to Shore Things Up

It’s difficult to imagine a time when the unpredictability of the future is so uncertain and unpredictable. I hate the saying, “To be honest”, but – to be honest, I’m struggling with the insane politics, increasing inflation, crazy ammo prices, guns sold out – and what the hell is going to happen to this country over just the next couple of years.

What I know is the preparedness lifestyle has never made more sense than right now. I know a few on here are fairly new to preparedness. There IS still time, however, if you’re just starting out you’ve got to ramp things up.

For those who have been preparing for a while now is the time to shore things up. What do I mean? Simply imagine if RIGHT NOW as you are reading this you cannot purchase ANYTHING. Whatever you have is what you have.

What would you wish over the coming weeks you had bought more of?

Here are some simple things that are inexpensive but so valuable:

Food: Eat what you store and store what you eat

– Bic lighters(or the cheaper variety)

– 2.5 and 5 gallon gas containers FILLED

– cold and flu medicine(’tis the season in a few months)

– trash bags

sanitation supplies: cleaners, glass cleaner, disinfectant, bleach, wet-wipes, toilet paper, shampoo, etc.

– Zip-Loc bags(fantastic storage)

– tarps

– cordage: paracord is overrated but still worth having. Get rope, bankline, twine, string, etc.

– Knife – a Mora is well worth the money

– batteries

– flashlights(there are things that go bump in the night)

As stated – imagine that RIGHT NOW you have to survive and move forward with whatever you have. What’s missing? What should you have stocked up on more?

We’ve recently installed a bunch of super-bright LED battery powered motion activated lights outside. Probably the best overall investment I have made in years.
To go with them, we have also started to experiment with rechargeable batteries. Maybe a full half of our battery-operated devices are now using them. Remotes, flashlight, sensor lights. So far, so good.
We recently had 3 sheltie pups added to our clan. I had forgotten how much puppies eat, so we need to add puppy chow to our preps. We had lots of regular dog food already, including canine MREs. But, their tiny mouths need tiny food, and we hadn’t plan on new troop acquisitions when we were outfitting.
We don’t have gasoline stored, as I am uncertain as to how to store it long-time in a safe and secure manner. We had some gas set aside a few years ago, and it went bad in about a month, and did serious damage when we tried to use it.

well it won’t get better soon..
Mostly because the media won’t call it out and Biden even walk away from the question at the Dias this week. If it gets no attention, then there wont’ be awareness or pressure for a correction. Only a downward spiral.
Fill your preparedness gaps as soon as you can.

Maslow’s Heirarchy: Food (and water), clothing, shelter (heat). This is the starting point. The most neglected preparation is spiritual and if we, all facets of preppers, had started there we probably wouldn’t be in this position because ‘they’ couldn’t manipulate the thoughts and, more importantly, emotions of the population the way they do. It will continue to get worse and more quickly, famines, pestilence, natural disasters, world economic reset, divisions between people, violence, depravity and debauchery, until God’s people finally realize that no matter how well they trained and ‘stocked up’, they can’t make it without Him and call out for help.

This! Sanitation supplies: cleaners, glass cleaner, disinfectant, bleach, wet-wipes, toilet paper, shampoo, etc. Get them now since they have seemed to come back in stock for now! Buy in quantities if you can.

Extra clothing, and even more so if you have children. Pallets, they are good for everything, have you seen the cost of wood? Garden seeds (non GMO), soil if you live in the sandy states. We are working on water catchment and non electric way to do laundry, lots of choices there, just haven’t decided what is best for us. Barter items…. canning supplies and a good canning book. Speaking of books..lot’s of books. Make sure your medical needs and supplies are topped off.

We are also moving forward. We should close on our new place next month, on the end of a smaller town. Slightly bigger house, garage space for 3 cars, plus 2 “shop rooms”. With the larger, corner lot we should have 5 fruit trees, 10 berry bushes, and .25-acre of garden. With other expansion planned. And all of my “toys” will be on my property, inside my fence! Move/upgrades/repairs should be completed by October.

After we sell our current house and the DW retires in January we should be back to being debt free and in a better position to weather whatever is coming.

Once when I went on a Vision Quest the leader said most people worry about cougars or bears but its the fire ants that can really get to you !!
Assuming you have the major needed supplies I would suggest
tooth floss, paste,brushes- dental repair kits and the book What to Do When there.s no dentist.
Money – as much as possible in varying bills and change
    Solar items and rechargers
Extra prescriptions and homeopathy meds .
Pandemic supplies because another one will hit or other diseases will resurface
    Masks, bleach, gloves
    Pet food
    coffee -tea
“Stay calm “and prep on Arlene
