Sometimes it’s just fun to think – or maybe fantasize about different scenarios. For some of us though it is a daily decision to do something such as my latest video is about.
You’re out in the woods in BEAR country – what pistol are you carrying?
Maybe you’re hiking. Maybe you’re bow hunting. Maybe you’re out looking for the rare Blue-Eyed Ground-Dove. Whatever. The point is you are out in the wilderness and there are big, bad animals in the woods that could if they chose to, tear you from limb to limb.
What pistol would you carry?
No rifles. That’s cheating. No grenade launchers. That would be cool, but no.

Rourke
I carry a S&W Model 69 (5-shot 44 Mag) loaded with 200 gr 44 Spec +P loads (1100 fps with the short barrel). Comfortable, compact (for an L-frame Smith) and lethal.
Nice!!!
Great minds think…. in a similar fashion.
As mentioned in a previous post, I also tote about a S&W Model 69 Combat Magnum, but with the 4.25″ barrel. One of Smith’s best overall designs, in my opinion.
I’d load it up with 260 Grain Keith-style Hard Cast SWC bullets, going about 1000 FPS.
It makes bad things into good things.
Ruger Alaskan…..in 454 or 44 mag, or the s&w 329pd, good choices I think for the shock factor on impact
The same Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II that I carry every day. 230 gr ball over 230 gr JHP. Looking for a rail mounted flamethrower to put on it too. Let me know if anyone knows where to get one.
In my neck of the woods, panhandle of Idaho, it seems a Glock in 10mm is a common recipe for bear soup.
