I’ve watched the movie at least 6-7 times. Pretty good. Brad Pitt did a decent job and enjoyed the storyline. Fast zombies….so much more of a threat than the slow Walking Dead versions. While the movie was pretty good it really left me wanting more.
I’ve finally gotten around to reading the book. So far it’s fantastic. I didn’t realize the structure of the book and how it was written. Basically, it’s a series of after-action reports. With these reports coming from all over the world starting from the very beginning of the war all the war to the end you get a really good picture.
I’ve been listening to the audio version of the book. There is a multitude of actors who are playing the different characters. These include Alan Alda, Bruce Boxleitner, Max Brooks(the author), Masi Oka(from the TV series – Heroes), Rob Reiner, Martin Scorsese, Paul Sorvino, and many more. They do a great job.
The specific version I’m reading can be found with this link: World War Z

Oh – members of The Patriot Brigade get a .mp3 version of the book to download as part of their membership.
Book is WAY better than the movie!
I suspect that the idea of zombies attacking people and spreading the zombie virus came from the idea of rabid animals going crazy and attacking people, spreading rabies, in which case it’s based on a grain of truth.
If you like this type of books you should try John Ringo’s Black Tide Rising series.
Years ago wandering a Borders Booksellers (before they shut permanently; I haven’t been back much since…), I discovered WORLD WAR Z.
I was instantly hooked.
.
Vampires and voodoo and ghosts always seemed hokey, goofy, a time-wasting placebo for cloud-headed dummies.
But this!, finally, somebody came up with a brilliant concept, and followed through with something of lasting value.
.
As I sat in a big over-stuffed, I completely fell into the tale.
Hours later — as ‘Closing Time’ played on the PA — I finished the book and returned it to its place on the shelf.
.
I grew-up on a farm, my four grandparents lived next door, so, following their lead, I was always a prepper.
I think the author of World War Z uses his stories to get folks interested in resilience.
I think — besides the profit — he wanted to contribute to bettering our humanity.
I believe he was/is successful.
