Secure Communications for The American Reformation: Telegram App

Those Patriots who wish to communicate with fellow Patriots in a more secure manner – for whatever reason – may want to look into the communications tool called “Telegram”. Telegram is a communications tool available as both a web-based and mobile app interface.

Working very much like any other chat app such as Facebook Messenger Telegram offers several features which may be attractive:

    • Telegram is secure – or at least much more secure than typical communication tools.
    • Telegram is fast.
    • Telegram allows for both individual and group messaging and chats.
    • Telegram allows the sharing of files.
    • Secret texts can be sent which will self-destruct.
    • Available on all of your devices.
    • Voice messages can be sent.
    • Telegram is 100% FREE

Setup is extremely easy and not much different than any other app. Telegram does require access to your contact list and camera in order to send messengers as well as photos.

Telegram can send two types of messages with both being encrypted.

CLOUD: The first is a cloud-based message which is stored on the Telegram servers. While this may seem very un-secure it is not at all. While it is possible for the FBI to access these messages via a warrant, the ability for hackers to access the cloud is extremely difficult. Security is what Telegram is built their reputation and existence on. As of today, Telegram has provided zero data to anyone making requests. This includes governments.

SECRET CHAT: The second type of message is called the “secret chat”. In this format, messages are sent and received and can ONLY be accessed using the end users devices. This means that they are not saved on the Telegram servers and cannot be accessed by anyone – except those who use the user’s devices. These messages can be set to self-destruct. This is the most secure method within the Telegram app. Currently, the Secret Chat option is only available for person to person communications. Group Secret Chats are not an option – at least for now.

While there are pro’s and con’s to all secure communication apps Telegram continues to be the leader of the pack. Constant updates and added features keep things interesting and new features are added all the time.

    Telegram – Secure Communication Solution?

I will tell you from my experience using Telegram over the past year it is fantastic. My preparedness group uses it as their exclusive communications tool. We set up multiple group chat rooms to use for different topics. Pictures, videos, and other files can be sent as well as audio. Frequently while I am driving if I need to communicate something to the group I just press the audio button and record my message – and then it sends automatically when I am done.

Whether it is in the middle of the American Reformation or the beginnings we find ourselves now Telegram is but one solution for more secure communications.

Note: Telegram is available for both the Android and iOS operating systems, as well as a web based access point. This means that virtually every multimedia device from Smartphones, tablets, and PC’s can utilize the technology.

In the process of trying to set up some training for a few friends and potentially one group member. People will go out and buy a pistol or an AR for $500+ but make every excuse in the book not to spend a few hours training. Why the reluctance to pay for training? I get it money is tight but come on. Make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and don’t go out to lunch every day. In a couple weeks a defensive carbine and pistol class will be paid for. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – “Training is NOT shooting at paper between two narrow walls.”

People overestimate their firearm skills almost as much as their food storage levels. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being Papa Smurf and 10 being John Rambo – where do your skills lie? Me? Realistically and being totally honest(as always) I rate myself a solid 5.

If you are sitting on your couch right now watching TV, reading this – and have never practiced switching to your backup weapon – while moving – your missing the boat(and will likely miss the target). Not trying to be harsh here but how many times have you shot off-hand? You’re right handed? What are you going to do when you are on the left corner of a building and need to shoot around it? What most people will do and expose themselves unnecessarily and pay the price. The smaller percentage of people will simply switch their rifle to the left side and engage – accurately –  with minimal exposure.

So you carry everyday? Awesome! How fast can you successfully draw your pistol? Be honest. Will it get caught on your shift while you fumble to grab the butt? Is there a round in the chamber? I hope so. Have you practiced grabbing your shirt with your off hand pulling it up high well away from your pistol so as to remove any opportunity for the pistol to get caught on anything? If not – the time to start is now.

Not healthy enough to “train” the way I describe? Then train to the level which you can. Truly cannot afford a $175 for a defensive firearms course? There are tons of YouTube training video’s to study and practice on your own. How about buy a book such as The Home Schooled Shootist?

Bad things happen to good people every day. Some significantly crappy things may be happening to many good people in the not too distant future. It’s time to get ready now.

    But what do I know I’m only a 5.

There are many reasons why so many love their Kindle and Amazon Fire tablets. One huge advantage is you could literally go years without every buying a book to read as there are tons of free eBooks available. Don’t have a Kindle or Fire? No problem. There are apps that can be installed on most any cell phone or computer for free. No excuses!

NOTE: If you see a free Kindle book that your interested in get it now. Prices change often and there is no way to tell how long the book will remain free. Before purchasing a free Kindle book on Amazon make certain the book is still free by making sure the price is $0.00. If it lists a price or says “read for free” or has a price for prime members the book is not free anymore.

  • Preparedness and Drones

    Preparedness and Drones

Military use of drones and surveillance have exploded in popularity over the past decade. The reasons are obvious. Unmanned drones  – being unmanned – help save American lives. The perspective of several hundred feet to a few thousand feet certainly provides insight as to what is going on in the area. The fact that unmanned drones can also be weaponized makes military drones a major combat multiplier in our Armed Forces.

Drones are not only for the military. The quality of civilian drones is constantly going up while pricing has been fairly steady or even trending downward slightly. A great example of a civilian drone with real uses for the prepper is the Phantom 3 Standard. Running under $400 on sale the Phantom 3 Standard provide exception ease of flight and real-time camera viewing. Of course it also records during flight and the camera’s angles can be adjusted during flight.

A friend of mine recently purchased a Phantom 3 Standard and has shared his flight video’s with me. Impressive! I wanted to post one here however file size was rather large so check out the video below. It provides a good overview of the capabilities of a $500 drone. Remember – all the footage can be seen by the pilot in real-time.

Consider the benefit of using such a drone – or multiple drones – for retreat security and area surveillance. There are many benefits of including these drones in preparedness plans and strategy. Expensive? Fairly, however there are those that will blow $1500 on an AR – and scoff at spending $400 on a drone. For some it would be a valuable tool while others not.

I believe in short order I’ll have a Phantom 3 Standard on a bench in my garage. Besides preparedness – these things are FUN!!
