It’s been 38 years since Red Dawn was being shown in the theaters. I was 15 years old and for my journey in survival, I was in my infancy. Amazing how things seem to come full circle. Well, sorta. Back then Russia was the main emphasis of most people’s preparedness concerns and actions. The U.S.S.R. fell and many who prepared for what was perceived as a certain nuclear war moved on past preparing and simply lived their lives.
Now Russia has re-entered the picture and the world sits on the edge of war – or something else. I find it difficult to believe much of anything on any news outlet. Any. What I know for certain is there is nothing I can do about it. All I can do is live my life the absolute best I can and prepare for the possible effects of the insanity evil men continue to create.
Survival in the ’80s seemed so simple.
Today? Not so much.
Take care all –
Rourke
I was in the Army when that came out. I stood in line for the movie. At that time it was a good movie since we were still in the cold war era. Look at us now. Scary times we live in.
The boil on the butt of humanity isn’t Russia. It is Leftism.
I was in the Army Reserves at the time and a few got together and watched the movie on the RCA disc player if you can remember them, we all agreed in concept that kind of attack was possible, but not likely, today with our open borders it is more likely. Possibly not by paratroopers, but terrorist. It would take a lot of poison or nuclear waste to poison our water supply systems.
Dear sir, Just wanted to thank you for your insight. Really enjoy your articles and point of view. As my grandfather used to say, you are welcome at my camp fire any day.
Appreciate that Karma!
I was a senior in high school when we saw this at the theater. One of my friends joined the Army the following week. To this day, I can’t watch it after dark or when I’m alone. My kids don’t understand. They think it’s just fantasy fiction.
