The communists on the Left continue to scream gun control – bans and restrictions. They spout false statistics to make a case that to save the citizens of this country gun control must be enacted to lengths never before seen. As of this writing numerous gun control measures have been put forth to the Justice Department as well as Congress. Who knows what the results will be. Gun ownership is a fundamental Constitutional right and self-protection is a God-given right. Period.
So – here are a few thoughts on how to prepare for the most likely gun control measures:
****Note: I’m not a lawyer. I’m not an expert on ATF and gun laws. I do believe the 2nd Amendment is crystal clear and any law that is unconstitutional is null and void.
1. Gun Ban – Any gun ban would most likely grandfather in those firearms that already exist and have been purchased. If this is the case the main strategy to prepare for such a case is to purchase what you want NOW. Later it may be impossible to purchase or at a minimum very expensive.
If AR-variant firearms are your interest purchasing “stripped” lowers is one avenue to prepare. The frame – or lower part of the AR-15 contains the serial number and is actually considered the firearm. Buying a few lowers is fairly inexpensive and insurance that you’ll be able to build later that which you want.
2. Magazine Ban – Magazines with capacities over 10-rds have been targeted by numerous states and of course the Federal government back in 1994. Any magazine ban will likely grandfather in any currently possessed higher-capacity magazines.
Preparation: No better time than RIGHT NOW to stock up!! After the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban which limited magazine capacity to 10 rounds the price of existing higher capacity magazines shot up and supply became very limited. Stock up on magazines for your firearms now.
3. Ammunition Restrictions – This is the least likely form of gun control we will see. Numerous gun control groups, as well as politicians, have suggested ways to control ammunition availability. Taxing ammunition and making it much more expensive is one suggested path. Requiring serial numbers on ammunition is another strategy to make ammunition more expensive thus limiting how much people will buy.
Preparation: Time and time again the strategy of STOCK UP NOW has proven to work. Buying when supply is plentiful and the price is low is the way to go. Far too often we get comfortable during “normal” times. No complacency. Stock up.
Budget-Friendly Idea:
Every paycheck buy at least one box of ammunition – depending on cost and caliber. If you can afford two – buy them. Think about it – if you buy a single box of 20 rounds of 5.56mm every week for a year this amounts to 1,040 rounds in a year. This may not be enough but it is more than if you DON’T buy any.
4. Confiscation – This is highly unlikely to occur but nevertheless it’s a concern. “Confiscation” includes the active removal of firearms and/or ammunition from your possession.
Preparation: Purchase firearms “off-grid” and “off-the-radar” via private sales from private sellers. By purchasing firearms from private individuals there are no trackable records to trace. In the event of door-to-door search and seizures, keeping firearms in a different location than “home” would help keep them from prying eyes.
Summary
Make no mistake about it the complete banning of all firearms is precisely what the Socialist Left wants. That has been their goal for decades and is their goal right now. While we can all hope and pray that the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment can survive – we simply do not know.
So – – – prepare.
Stock up now while you still can.
