I Miss America

This was the phrase spray-painted across bridges and walls in the book, 299 Days. The sending of this message for all to see was an act of civil disobedience. In a world where the government and many of its citizens were over-controlling and against freedom as the Founders established – I Miss America sent a message that THIS America just wasn’t the same.

It wasn’t the same America that fought for freedom in World War I and WWII. It wasn’t the same America that fought against the British for independence of a teeny-tiny tax on tea. It wasn’t the same America that fought against communism on numerous fronts – both domestically and foreign. It was not the same America that won the Cold War against an evil Soviet empire that dominated its citizens and was the epitome of a dictatorship.

Yeah – I miss America as well.
